Since she was a little girl she has been able to fight at an exceptional level. When she was 15 her dad was killed in the line of duty. She originally joined demon containment unit (dcu) he worked in order to fulfill his undone work. But after learning that they are not only the ones behind demons entering the human world but that they killed her father she decided to leave and create a team to take them down.
