Chapter 21 - Army Approaching

As he went to spy on the commanders, Suchi took refuge in the trees. The tracker Sinoca gave him led him to a large warehouse. He was a bit surprised that the group was in such a large building considering Sinoca only saw the three generals. As he picked in through a nearby window, he saw that there were multiple workers there. Some soldiers, some knights, some generals and two powerful looking demons. As Suchi looked at the lineup, he understood that this fight wasn't going to be as easy as they assumed. It was going to take everything they had to win.

At the same time, Sinoca and Inamaru had returned to Gus' spot. Gus' wife once again answered the door.

"Sinoca, you're back," she said, somewhat surprised. "I'm sorry, but Gus still isn't back yet."

"I figured he wouldn't be, it's just better if we wait for him here," Sinoca answered.

"We?" The wife questioned. That's when Inamaru went inside. "Well, uh...you're huge." The wife laughed nervously.

"Sorry to barge in like this," Sinoca explained, "it's just really important that we are here for now," Sinoca explained.

"I promise I'll be on my best behavior," Inamaru said, in a half-jokey tone.

"Well, I guess things are pretty serious, huh?" The wife asked nervously. Sinoca nodded, causing Gus' wife to sigh. "I'll put on some tea, Gus should be here soon." The two of them waited for a while, when finally Gus walked in through the front door.

"Honey! I'm home! How was you-" Gus began to say until he saw Sinoca and Inamaru in his living room. "Sinoca...and Inamaru.... well this can't be good."

"No it won't," Sinoca admits. "We've been waiting for you. You might want to sit down for this." Gus looked at his favorite tea and sighed. The moment he sat down, his wife gave him his tea.

"Well, if the tea is already made, then I know it's going to be bad," Gus said before taking a sip. "Okay, what's the problem?" Sinoca went on to explain everything that happened to the generals, to what Suchi radioed to them about what he saw in the warehouse, and how they believe that Gus is the DCU's target.

"....I suggest that you leave the city and take refugees for the time being," Sinoca said. "It's the safest option for you and your family." Gus looked at his wife, who was also listening in.

"Yeah, I'm not going to do that," Gus answered.

"What about your family?" Inamaru asked.

"Listen here boy," Gus said, as he stood up. "Let me tell you a little something about me. I'm too old and stubborn to be running. Particularly when I am standing by my convictions. I believe in what I am doing. I am supplying top tier items to over half the rebels taking on the DCU. What happens if I move? I have to contact all of my clients and let them know where I'm staying. I lose out on opportunities. More than anything, I show those fighting for their lives that I'm a coward if I leave. Sinoca, you know I'm no coward." Sinoca drummed her hands on her lap before popping out of her chair.

"No you are not," Sinoca said. "I guess we have to go with plan b. Inamaru and I will take out all the incoming DCU soldiers." Sinoca leans on Inamaru as she says the last sentence. Out of shock, Inamaru shot out of his chair, knocking Sinoca over.

"Are you serious?!" Inamaru asked, shocked. "You're not going to try to talk this guy out of it." Sinoca got up and dusted herself off.

"Did you not just hear me tell him it's best if he left?" Sinoca asks sarcastically. "I mean, we can't just force him to leave if he doesn't want to."

"Did we get different information from Suchi?" Inamaru asks. "They have an army coming here. You expect us to deal with that, just the three of us?"

"In the grand scheme of things, we are attempting something tougher than this anyway," Sinoca argued.

"Yeah, when we're ready," Inamaru argued, "I don't think we are ready for this."

"Anyway, I think I might be able to help," Gus said.

"No offense, old timer, but I doubt you will be strong enough to help us out," Inamaru said.

"No, no, I have a couple of clients that are meeting me here today," Gus said. "Actually, I was already hoping to introduce them to you, Sinoca. I didn't think it'd be in the middle of a crisis."

"Sounds awesome, what do they do," Sinoca asked.

"One is a phantom swordswoman and the other is a little dragon boy," Gus said.

"Huh, sounds like it's been done," Sinoca says.

"That's just a coincidence," Gus says.

"See Inamaru, now we have five," Sinoca said.

"Great, so we are just going to rely on these people we've never met in a war like this," Inamaru complains. "Look, I think this is nuts, I've already said that, but if this is our only option, I guess I have no choice."

"That's the spirit," Sinoca jokes. "Okay Gus, we have about 15 minutes before Suchi gets here and about 20 before the army is here. How long until your clients get here?"

"About twenty minutes, give or take," Gus answers.

"That's perfect," Sinoca smiled. "Suchi will take point with the demons while the two of us take on the army. Eventually, the others will show up and join us. When we wipe out the grunts, we'll join Suchi to take out the bosses. Sounds good?" Inamaru rolled his eyes before nodding. "Hey Gus, I'm going to need you to refill everything."

"You got it kid," Gus said, "I'll have you ready in no time." Sinoca then stepped outside and began to look in the direction the DCU was coming in.

"Ready or not, we have a big test today," Sinoca said. "I'm not going to let you guys down."
