Chapter 17 - Grave Communication

Over the next few days, Sinoca would check the surrounding area looking for anyone that could give her information. She wanted to ask around about the demons in the area as well as the graveyard. Unfortunately, she couldn't seem to find anyone around. The entire area seemed to be deserted. Sinoca didn't want to give up her search, something in her told her that the graveyard was important. Still, she didn't even know where to start. The first few days. Suchi and Inamaru helped her with her search, but after not finding any leads, they decided that their time would be better served training with one another. Sinoca was starting to get frustrated. So she decided to spend time meditating at the graveyard. Feeling the surrounding wind, she started to relax. Suddenly, Sinoca felt voices calling out to her. This was new and slightly scared her.

"Hello, hello, is someone here," the voice called out.

"What's going on!" Sinoca asked, breaking her meditation, looking around with her blade drawn. She looked around and could see anyone. "Hey, who was just talking to me?" Sinoca looked in the surrounding area, but there was nobody there, nor any tracks that were left by anyone. "It couldn't be," Sinoca said to herself as she returned to the graveyard. She got in the same spot, "well it's worth a try. " Once again, Sinoca began to meditate. After a few moments, she began her meditation, she began to hear the voice again.

"Hello, hello," the voice said again. "Is someone there?"

"What's going on?" Sinoca asked, not breaking her concentration, "who are you."

"Finally, someone came," the voice said, sounding almost relieved. "I am Peeblo, I was the ruler of this land years ago. I may have been in charge, but I cared deeply for all of my people. We were like family. That was until one day, some.....monstrosities of creatures arrived. They came out of nowhere, one by one, they killed us all. We had no way to stop them."

"Did they look like they had lizard heads?" Sinoca asked.

"Yes actually, they were strong and fast. There were around 10 of them," Peeblo said.

"I know you wouldn't know, seeing how you were...well, you know, but do you have any idea who could have made these graves for you?" Sinoca asked.

"Graves huh," Peeblo pondered, "I don't know exactly who could've made the graves for us. As far as I know, there is nobody in the area."

"How can I hear you?" Sinoca asked. "I've never heard of people talking beyond the grave."

"I'm not really sure, actually. I know that one of our members was part phantom, perhaps she used her powers to help me to speak to you."

"Is there anything you would like to tell me, you know, before I move on," Sinoca asked.

"I would love for somebody to avenge my people," Peeblo said. "I know it's a lot to ask, but if you are willing, I have an idea where they are staying."

"Me and my team are actually here because we ran into some of those guys," Sinoca explained, "if you know where they are, my team and I promised to take them out."

"Very well," Peeblo said, "east of the village there is an old red bridge, at the bottom of the cliffs there is a cave. That's the most likely place for them to stay."

"Thank you sir," Sinoca said.

"I'll warn you now, the battle is bound to be dangerous," Peeblo assured her. "You would be wise to be careful." Sinoca rose to her feet with a gleam in her eyes.

"I will," she said, not sure if Peeblo heard her. Sinoca rushed back to tell Suchi and Inamaru the news. She explained everything that happened to her at the cemetery.

"Sinoca, are you sure you haven't lost your mind," Inamaru said. "Maybe you are working too hard. There is no way you heard a voice at the cemetery."

"I know what I heard," Sinoca argued, "they told me what happened, and where the demons we saw are staying. Not only that, but I promised to avenge Peeblo and his village. If you guys don't come with me, I'm still going down there myself."

"Are you crazy? What makes you think that you can handle something like this without us?" Inamaru said. Inamaru and Sinoca both glared at each other.

"In any case, it won't hurt to take a look down there," Suchi said. "I don't know about voices, but either way, the bottom of the bridge seems like a good place to check." Suchi got up, and began to walk out the door. "Are you coming? You're supposed to lead the way, right?" Sinoca smiled as she hurried to the door.

"Of course, just follow me," Sinoca said before turning to Inamaru. "Last chance, Inamaru, if you want in, you have to tag alone." Inamaru rolled his eyes.

"I would stay here, but I guess I'll be bored by myself," Inamaru said, "so I guess I'll be tagging along." The team traveled over to the area that the bridge was said to be in. When they saw the bridge, both Suchi and Inamaru were stunned to see that it existed.

"Come on you guys, we are going to have to climb down," Sinoca said, running to the edge of the cliff. Sinoca started to climb down.

"There's no way a voice actually spoke fo her, right?" Inamaru asked Suchi.

"I don't know anything about that," Suchi said, "in any case, we had still better climb down. It's what we came for, right?" Sichu and Inamaru both climbed down, joining Sinoca. As they arrived at the bottom, they decided to enter the cave. Slowly, they went deeper into the cave. Suddenly, Inamaru smelled something in the air. He then stopped the others.

"Guys, I smell human blood in the air," Inamaru said.

"Hearing this, Sinoca started to run deeper in the cave. Suchi and Inamaru chanced after her. When Sinoca got to the end, she saw two of the lizard demons eating a human alive. On Instinct, Sinoca sliced both of the demon's heads off at the same time. The other demons stared at her, readying herself to attack. Inamaru and Suchi rushed in. They were outnumbered six to three but they were still ready to fight them.
