True to her word, for the next few days Sinoca continued to return to Suchi's home. Daily, she would attempt to convince him to join her team. She didn't seem to be having success, but still Sinoca refused to give up. The first few times, Sinoca would be attacked upon her arrival. However, when Suchi realized she wouldn't stop coming, he stopped wasting energy attacking her. Eventually, it got to the point that Suchi started to look forward to her visits. Even though it always started and ended with Sinoca trying to convince him to join her team, they would often spend time chatting with one another. Suchi hadn't had anyone to talk to in years. He didn't realize it, but he was missing having company, and Sinoca made for great company. She was engaging and open. She explained to him everything that had happened to her and the DCU, as well as how she met Inamaru and all of their adventures. Suchi was astonished at the fact that she didn't leave out any of their struggles. Sinoca thought the best approach to convince Suchi to join them was to go the honest route. Although Suchi didn't seem any closer to joining, it was clear that he appreciated the honesty. One day, as they were chatting, Sinoca felt like she laid enough ground room to get Suchi to open up.
"So, do you mind if I ask you a question?" Sinoca asked.
"Sure, but I can't guarantee that I'll answer it," Suchi responded.
"Well, if you don't want to answer, I understand," Sinoca assured, "I was just interested to know how you knew so much about the DCU?" Suchi looked off into the distance as if he was deep in thought. "If you aren't ready to share I understand." Suchi then put his hand up.
"It's fine," Suchi said, before turning back and smiling at Sinoca. "You've been more than open with me, so I can at least tell you my story."
"Thank you," Sinoca said, as she was ready to listen intently.
"So I know I said my story, but it was really my brother's story," Suchi began to explain. "My brother was a B-Class demon. He used to protect everyone in our village. Whether they were humans, or demons, my brother would lead the charge and protect all of us. Despite being tasked as our protector, he still found time to get to know everyone and make sure the whole village was taken care of. One day, my brother was drafted by this group of higher-classed demons. They promised to help protect the town in exchange for him joining them. My brother agreed. It was fine at first. My brother was mostly going after murderers and thieves. At the same time, the demons were doing their part protecting us in the village. They didn't have the personal touch my brother had, but we were all safe. My brother would come and train me whenever he had time. It was through him that I got my love of nature. I would train when he was gone, hoping to follow in his footsteps. Life was good, until one day everything changed. Suddenly, the missions that my brother would go on would be much different. My brother seemed to only be sent on missions to kill humans. We didn't know at the time, but a lot of the time he was being used to silence somebody. He started to suspect that something was wrong. He stopped visiting home, only giving me coded messages by mail. My brother did some digging, and it turned out the demons he joined worked for a bigger group of demons that ran the DCU. My brother was simply a pawn in their plan to keep their organization above everyone else. My brother told me to leave the town as soon as possible. He said he'd been compromised, and his final act was to warn me. Because he betrayed the DCU, they would kill everything he held dear. Luckily for me, they did not know our system. As I was fleeing my home, I could see it going up in flames in the distance. If not for my brother, I'd have died with the rest of my people that day. So after I fled I wandered around for a few years until I found this place. I've lived here alone for the last three years." Sinoca just looked at Suchi, with sad eyes. He could tell that she was really hurt for him, which made Suchi smile.
"I'm so sorry that happened to you," Sinoca said.
"Hey, don't worry about it, we all have our pain right?" Suchi responded.
"I almost don't want to ask you...."
"Why don't I want to take on the DCU?" Suchi finished Sinoca's question for her. "It's simple really, I think what yout guys are doing is incredibly brave. I just don't think it's possible to succeed. The demons I've seen, there is no way we can beat them." Sinoca sat there for a moment. She was obviously deep in thought. Finally, she got up.
"Thank you for sharing all of that with me," Sinoca said, trying to force a smile on her face. "I think I should call it a day today."
"I understand," Suchi said, "will I see you tomorrow?" Sinoca stopped walking.
"Of course, you haven't joined my team yet," Sinoca answered before walking back to the temporary hideout. She and Inamaru were both arriving at the same time.
"Hey Sinoca, how was your date?" Inamaru teased.
"Very funny," Sinoca answered, "I think I'm close to getting through to him. I think he will join our team soon."
"Well, he hasn't killed you yet, so you might be right," Inamaru said. "Still, I worry about wasting too much time here, especially if he doesn't end up joining us."
"Don't worry, I'm not taking now for an answer, and the DCU isn't going anywhere," Sinoca said. Also, aren't you visiting some of the stations to help smooth things over for us? Or was that just an excuse to go scalping?" Inamaru chuckled nervously before heading inside, avoiding the question.
The next morning, Sinoca was ready to head back to Suchi's forest when she saw a giant DCU carrier flying directly towards the forest.
"Hey Inamaru," Sinoca called out. Inamaru rushed outside. His eyes widened as he saw the sight. "I think we have to head there now." Inamaru nodded.
"It doesn't matter how strong he is, he's going to need our help," Inamaru said. Both Inamaru and Suchi began to run to the forest hoping to save Suchi from the incoming attack.
