Chapter 11 - First Mission

The next few months, Sinoca and Inamaru spent some time training and living at various rebel groups. After her fight with Khoros, the word about them spread. That made it easier for them when arriving at different bases. Inamaru was already a well-known warrior among the rebels, but Sinoca was a human. Some of the bases would've given her a hard time if they didn't know that she was strong enough to best Khoros. As they were going from base to base, the duo did not explain that they were looking for more members of their unit. This was something Sinoca thought was best. Her reasoning was that she didn't want to ostracize the other rebels on the base, and she didn't want people going out of their way to prove themselves to them. After a few months of going from base to base, they gained a bit of chemistry with many of the bases. Inamaru's personality helped him when it came to team comradery. As for Sinoca, her time in the DCU made it so she could share very useful information about how the DCU worked with the rebels. In her time staying at the bases, Sinoca learned that a lot of the demons were a lot like humans. They simply wanted to live their lives without fear. Conversely, many of the demons that thought of humans as selfish beings got to learn more about humans through Sinoca. They also learned that many in the DCU didn't know what was going on in the organization. In time, Sinoca and Inamaru both grew by leaps and bounds when it came to their strength. However, they had yet to find that person that could join their special unit. Still, after spending so much time with the rebel groups, some of them started to invite Inamaru and Sinoca out on missions. The first mission was weight nerve-reckoning for Sinoca as they were tasked with hitting a hideout full of knights. For Sinoca, everything got real, as she was going on a mission to kill members of the DCU for the first time since she had to save Inamaru. In the other cases, she had to kill the DCU warriors. She was faced with her life and the lives of those she cared about. This time, she was going to be the aggressor. One of the rebel warriors saw Sinoca and decided to check on her.

"Are you okay, Sinoca?" The demon asked. She was a Humanoid green demon, with dark green hair, and two horns coming out of her forehead.

"I'm fine Cindy," Sinoca answered. "It's just a deferent feeling, you know. I dedicated my life to fighting demons in the DCU. Now here I am, about to team up with demons to attack the DCU. It's just.....it's so different from what I expected my life to be like."

"I can't even imagine what you are going through," Cindy answered. "Still, I know it may be hard, but we need you focused out there. So many of us are depending on you. What's more, many of those in the DCU are depending on you too." Sinoca took a deep breath and grabbed her sword tight.

"I understand, thank you, Cindy," Sinoca said. Sinus smiled at her.

"Look alive everyone," the demon, leading the charging attack squad. "We are almost there." A few minutes later, the team arrived in front of the knights. The demon leading the charge killed a couple of knights. The alarm sounded immediately and everyone in the area began to fight. Most of the people fighting were evenly matched. However, Inamaru was on a roll, beating warriors left and right. At the same time, Sinoca was absolutely dominating every warrior she saw. Not only was she killing them, she was doing so at record speed. Sinoca was moving so fast that any time she felt like someone was in trouble, she would be there to help them out. Before the knight knew it, they were taken out. Sinoca and Inamaru both had the most kills by a landslide. The team retreated after a job well done. Back at the compound, the entire group was having a celebration over their win. There was a lot of drinking and eating over the bonfire. Of course, Sinoca had a different diet than the other rebels, but at this point they had some of her food prepared already. She and Inamaru both sat together eating and enjoying their success when Cindy walked over to them.

"Mind if I join you?" Cindy asked innocently. Before Sinoca answered, Inamaru eagerly nodded his head and wiped off a spot for her. Sinoca and Cindy both laughed as Cindy sat down between Sinoca and Inamaru. "So, how are you feeling, Sinoca?" Cindy asked. Sinoca looked down at her cup, really searching for her feelings.

"Honestly, I'm pretty content right now," Sinoca answered. "I guess our talk must have helped me more than I thought. I mean, I thought I would feel bad right now, but I don't. I can't explain it, but I don't feel guilty about what happened at all."

"I think you give me more credit than I deserve," Cindy responded. "I think you knew deep down this had to be done. That's why you've been living with use right. You were the biggest reason we won today. I personally believe that you are going to be the reason that the DCU falls. You're going to bring peace to this world." Sinoca smiled hearing all of this. Even though a lot of the rebels warmed up to her, it was rare for someone to believe in her to this degree.

"Thank you, Cindy," Sinoca said. "You have no idea what that meant to me."

"What about me?" Inamaru asked. "What do you see in my future?"

"Well, you certainly will help," Cindy said, starting to look away.

"Uh-huh," Inamaru said, slightly discouraged. Cindy giggled and started rubbing his arm.

"Just kidding, you are going to be key in this war," Cindy said, "I can feel it." Inamaru smiled.

"Thank-"

Suddenly, an arrow pierced Cindy right in the head. Killing her instantly.
