When Sinoca woke up, her head was ringing. Her vision was blurry. As she sat up, she looked around not recognizing her sorroundings. She stood on her feet, grabbing the bag beside her. Suddenly, all the memories of last night came rushing back. She remembered all she learned about the DCU, how they were responsible for killing her father. Her seeing Amanda lying there dead. Abandoning Nate as he was dying. Seeing the love of her life decapitated right in front of her. The weight of everything came crashing down on her at once. She started to walk away, in a zombie-like state. She didn't have a clue where she was going. The forest she was in was much more run down than the one on the outskirts of the city. Many of the trees were dying. She didn't see animals running through it. It was clear that she was far from the home she'd known for so long. She had no way to know how long, or how far she ran. Sinoca had no idea where she was going to go, or what to do next. When she saw the smoke in the air, she thought to herself that the place was as good as any. So she began to walk towards the area of the smoke. As she started moving forward, her body was still weighing her down. As she started to get closer to the smoke, she saw it looked to be coming from what looked like a camp fire. Before she could move closer, she saw what looked like a werewolf jumping out in front of her. The werewolf bared his fangs and claws towards her.
"Halt! You D-C-U Scum!" The werewolf yelled in a loud confident tone. "I knew one of you bastards would find this place. We'll bring it on, I don't care what you throw at me! I will take you corrupt bastards down!!" He took a step towards Sinoca, but she just stared at him, tears streaming down her face. "Ha-ha bask in my glory! For you know that you have no chance against a specimen quite like me!" The werewolf boasted. Still, Sinoca remained unmoving. "Ha! Those crocodile tears won't," the werewolf's words started to trail off as he saw how she looked. In his sight, she looked like a sad, defeated puppy. It had sapped all the bravado and all the willingness to fight out of him. "Hey...are you....[sigh]are you okay?" The werewolf begrudgingly asked.
"No!" Sinoca cried out, crouching down, crying into her knees. She was breaking down all over again. This made the werewolf extremely uncomfortable.
"Oh....wow," the werewolf said awkwardly. Unsure what to do, the werewolf walked up to her, and crouched down right next to her. Putting his claws away, he started to pat her on her back. "Uh, there there," the werewolf said before clearing his throat. "Look, I don't know what happened, but just.....just let it all out ok. I won't judge you." Sinoca almost immediately buried her head into his chest and wailed into him. The werewolf did what he thought would comfort her, but was not sure if he was doing the right thing. Eventually, Sinoca stopped crying and began to get up.
"I'm sorry about that," Sinoca sniffled, "yesterday was really a long day."
"Don't worry about it," the werewolf said. "I'm Inamaru by the way." Inamaru extended his hand to shake. Sinoca looked at it, unsure if she wanted to shake it. It was as if it was the first time she noticed that this was a demon she was talking to. Ultimately, she decided to shake his hand.
"I'm Sinoca," she said, "thanks for that."
"You're welcome. Do you want to talk about it," Inamaru asked. Sinoca stared at him, unsure of what she should do.
"Are you sure you can trust me?" Sinoca asked. Inamaru laughed.
"Funny, because I can tell you don't actually trust me," Inamaru said. "Anyway, call it a gut feeling, but I think we should talk. Come in to my clubhouse." Sinoca looked at what Inamaru was looking at and saw that it was just a small hut mad of sticks. Sinoca shrugged her shoulders and followed him inside. They got settled, Inamaru started to eat a leg of an animal that Sinoca just couldn't make out. Sinoca opened her bag and pulled out some carrot sticks she had in there. "So tell me, why are you...like this," Inamaru asked. He was truly trying to be sympathetic, but he was not used to any of this. Sinoca took a deep breath and told Inamaru everything that had happened the last few days. Sinoca even geared up when it came to the parts of the story where the people she cared about died. Inamaru was listening intently. Finally, Sinoca had finished her story.
"That damn DCU! Always making life miserable for everybody but them!" Inamaru yelled in frustration. "Still, I never imagined that there were people in the organization that didn't know what was really going on." Sinoca nodded.
"According to Ruyen, you get more information the higher you get," Sinoca explained. "You see, I'm at the soldier level, above me are knights, they wear green. The generals wear red, and the commanders wear black. I find it hard to imagine that any of the generals don't know what's going on. At the same time, knights and under are less likely to know." Inamaru took all this information in. After processing everything, he looked up and saw how hard it was for Sinoca to talk about all of this. Feeling bad, he sighed.
"The DCU killed my whole family," Inamaru admitted. It wasn't you guys, it was mostly their demons, a few of whom you call generals were there, but it was mostly their top demons," Inamaru explained. "I was eight. I was so scared when I saw them. They were killing everyone around us. Before they saw me, my mother hid me in a locked unsuspecting box. She told me not to let myself out until I knew they were gone. Our whole village was wiped out in a flash. I still hear their screams sometimes." As Inamaru was speaking, he felt a hand on his shoulder. Inamaru looked at Sinoca and smiled. "Thank you. It ducks, but I think that if we work together, we can get our revenge. So what do you say? Do you want to team up."
