Times like this?.. I miss them. It doesn't happen as often as I'd like them to, but when it does it fills my heart with so much joy that I could almost burst. Lucy Rodman thought to herself.
Lucy and her husband, Dennis Rodman were in their living room cuddling up on the couch watching a series that was showing on the television.
It wasn't all the time he could get an off day from work, but when he does he spends his time with her. Or so she thought.
" My Love?.." Lucy called softly. " Yes dear? what is it?." Dennis answered. His attention solely on the TV.
" I just wanted to thank you again, you would have been at the office right now but you aren't, instead you're here. I love that you want to spend time with me." Lucy smiled, gazing up at her husband from his shoulder.
" Of course dear I'd do anything for you even if I was in an important meeting I'd put you first no matter the–..
RING!
His ring tone interrupted him. That's starting to get really, really, really annoying. Lucy thought. " Your cell phone has been ringing on and on since last night. Aren't you going to pick it up?" She said, " No dear, I'm not going to do such a thing, there's no need for it. It's just work, they all can do things without me, that's one of the reasons I pay them." Dennis clicked his tongue, sliding the phone back in his pocket.
" Are you sure, it might be important for them to have been calling you since last night."
" It's not important, trust me." Dennis sighed.
" Alright if you say so–..
His ringtone cut her off. " You know what my love?." Lucy got up from his chest and balanced herself on the other side of the couch. " Go on and pick it up.. the sooner you know what they want from you the better for the both of us."
" You're sure about this?.. What if I get called back to the office?."
" Then so be it my love.. we can always have a couples weekend next week. There's no big deal." Lucy smiled. " Fine I'll answer it, but only because you told me to, just give me a couple minutes. I'll be right back." Dennis snickered. Standing up from the couch he left the living room and went into the kitchen, closing the door behind him.
Lucy frowned in confusion, Dennis wouldn't leave the room because of an office call, she knew everything there is to know about his work. Every single detail. Why is he being secretive about things now?.. Lucy pondered. Infact thinking about it now he has been extra shady these days, he keeps his phone close to him like it was a precious jewel.
Something was definitely wrong. Lucy got up from the couch and slowly began to walk towards the kitchen, eavesdropping on her husband's conversation was wrong she knew that. But the heavens knew that my cell phone had been ringing non stop since last night. At least she should know what the call was about.
Softly placing her right ear on the door Lucy tried her best to listen to her husband's hushed tone.
" I've told you time and time again that you should stop calling me. My wife has been with me throughout today and I swear to God if she starts to suspect that something is up It'll not end well for you, it won't be ending well for any of us!" Dennis hissed. " We had sex so what?, I beg of you stop bringing that crap up."
Sex?.. with whom? What in heaven's name was he talking about?.
Dennis, cheated on her?. Lucy frowned. No, it had to all be a misunderstanding, a prank maybe. Dennis would never do such a thing
Dennis loves her, he'd do absolutely anything for her.
" What do you mean you're pregnant?..you took after pills, you are not meant to get pregnant. You getting pregnant wasn't supposed to happen." Lucy, shocked to the bone, quickly covered her mouth with her palm to prevent her husband from knowing she was listening in on his conversation.
He got another woman pregnant. Dennis got another woman pregnant, after five long years of marriage, after all she did for him, all the ropes she had to pull, all just so that he could come out on top.
And now in return he repays her with deception, lies, everything deceitful. Lucy's brows squeezed in realization, for the good five years they've been married. They have tried time and time again to have at least one child, but nothing ever seemed to work. She has tried taking concussions, herbs, different types of vitamins, everything that was advised to her but nothing ever worked.
Dennis getting another woman pregnant only meant one thing, it meant that he wasn't the problem in their marriage, she has been the problem the entire time.
Lucy was the reason they couldn't have a baby. Her mother in-law would ruin her life if she ever found out about this problem.
" Fine, I'll meet you at the hospital. We'll have some tests done just to confirm if you're telling me the truth. I'll be there in twenty." Dennis sighed before ending the call.
Lucy almost ran as she went back to the living room, she couldn't let her husband know that she knew what he did. It'll only add fuel to the fire and her mother in-law would only find out about this issue sooner.
She just sat down on the couch as Dennis opened the door. Walking towards the living Dennis muttered. " Dear?"
" Yes my love? Is anything the matter?." Lucy turned towards him. Trying her best not to show any sign that she overheard him and what he said over the phone she smiled.
" Actually yes, there is. It's something about some really important documents that really need my signatures." He said taking his car keys off the table.
Documents her ass. Lucy thought. " I'll be heading to the office now but I won't stay out too long I promise, I should be back before dinner time."
" Sure, I'll make sure dinner is ready when you come home." Lucy said. " Bye dear!." Dennis placed a kiss on her forehead and he was out the door the very next second.
Lucy nearly screamed out in frustration, she couldn't believe that her own husband, Dennis could lie right up straight to her face like that. Then again she didn't expect him to tell her that he had slept with another woman and that the woman he slept with was pregnant with his child.
Lucy silently prayed in her heart that it wasn't her husband who got the lady pregnant and that the harlot he slept with was lying, that she was just trying to get money from her husband.
She prayed so very hard because if this issue was to get to the public's ears, she'd be doomed, she would be mocked, her marriage would be ruined, her entire life would fall out of place. And faster than she could blink, she would be thrown out to the streets. Everything she would have walked hard for went up in flames before her eyes.
But she couldn't lose this marriage, she loved her husband too much for that. Plus she has invested her time and entire livelihood for it to go down the drain or in flames.
All the thinking and anxiety soon got Lucy's head spinning, the dizziness had her eyes hurting. " Shit." Lucy muttered softly, her hands on her temple. It felt like needles were going through her forehead.
" Shit, shit." Lucy cussed. " I need to get the medicines I ordered from the pharmacy, I must have forgotten to go get them this morning."
Lucy went up stairs to her bedroom, took her purse and cell phone and was soon out of the house. Locking the door behind her she began walking down the street towards the pharmacy, she couldn't stop thinking about the trouble her husband might have gotten her into.
She could not be disgraced this way. Her mother in-law would be very happy to hear the news though, she never liked Lucy for Dennis. But despite all the rejections, they still had their way and got married anyway.
And during those five years of marriage, her mother-in-law doesn't miss any form of opportunity that comes up to humiliate her in front of everyone. Be it thanksgiving, easter holidays, christmas, the new year's eve, birthdays. Lucy was not spared the light of day.
This was such very bad timing for her.
