A month has gone by since Lucy was accused of the murder of her mother-in-law, she could already feel the little bump on her abdomen now. Her baby was growing every single day, she could feel it within herself.
And today was the day she was going to be brought in front of the court, knowing that she was going to be brought before the court she was anxious, Dennis hasn't changed his mind about anything. There was no chance of her going scott free, she had already talked to a couple of lawyers. And all of them thought that she actually murdered her mother in-law, no matter how many times she told them she had no hand in the woman's death they also thought that she wasn't being honest with them. And they all refused to help her with the case that was filed against her.
Lucy had also tried countless times to reason with Dennis, her beloved husband, but it seemed like he had cotton in his ears and that evil woman Martha still has him under her little claws. He wouldn't even give her the light of day to listen to what she has to say.
But now she was sitting in the visitors area, waiting. Dennis had called the station earlier today and asked for them to speak before they could meet in court.
The joy that Lucy felt in her heart knew no bounds, she prayed so hard that Dennis finally saw reason. She prayed that Martha no longer had a hold on her husband anymore, and by the end of the day she knew, no, she believed she was going to be a free woman.
Lucy was going to have all her firsts with her child, and she was determined to do that on the plain fields outside these prison walls.
Soon Dennis walked in, unfortunately he didn't come alone as she thought he would. Martha was with him, and she clung on to him like the blood sucking insect that she was.
" My love? I'm so glad you're finally here. I thought you didn't want to see me anymore." She then turned to Martha's direction. " What is this demonic witch doing here?" Lucy asked, the anger in her voice settling in, once she trusted herself not to rip Martha's eyes out she stood on her feet, the cuffs on her hands making its presence known.
" Please be practical Lucy, to be honest, denial doesn't really look good on you. You'll definitely be sentenced to jail for a very long time today at the courthouse, I mean seeing that you have absolutely nothing to show as evidence to prove your innocence in court, come to think of it criminal lawyers aren't even willing to see your case right?, i can definitely understand them though, you're not innocent to begin with and telling the truth is not one of your qualities." Martha said, pouting her lips. Her pregnancy was very potent now, it made Lucy frown.
" I strongly suggest you keep your mouth shut, because I can clearly remember not starting a conversation with you, a home wrecking wretch like you shouldn't be allowed to speak when a married couple is trying to have a conversation. Dennis is my husband, I do have a right to have a decent conversation with him so get on my nerves one more time and I swear I'll smack you so hard that the heavy make up you have on right now would break right off, I really dare you to test me." Lucy dared, her teeth gritted.
Turning her attention back to her husband, she saw that he wasn't smiling at all. " My love, please I beg of you to listen to me, you're making a very big mistake. This woman doesn't love you, she doesn't have any good intentions for you or the company, she's just manipulating you Dennis. Why can't you open your damn eyes to see that?" Lucy grumbled, her feet already hurting from standing.
" The only mistake I've made in this life is that I married someone like you, a murderer who wanted nothing more than to have me all to her damn self. You went to an extent I never thought you could go, you killed my mother Lucy, my own mother, yes she may never have liked you but that didn't give you any form of right to kill her the way you did!" Dennis scoffed. " And now with that rotten filthy mouth of yours you think you get to call me 'my love'? don't make such a mistake again Lucy, I'm warning you. Martha and I are now together, we're in a relationship so you should know your limits."
" You are the biggest idiot on the planet, you should be the one with all the limitations Dennis, how dare you. After everything we've been through, after everything I've been through for you and your family. I'm still your damn wife, at least show me that respect." Lucy snapped. Tears were already rolling down her cheeks.
" You won't be holding that title any longer, you no longer deserve it. Now make it snapping and sign this. It will make things better for both of us." Dennis said, taking some documents that were with Martha. Placing them on the table he sighed. " It'll be easier for you to sign these right this instant."
Taking the envelope she looked at him in dismay. " What is this?." Lucy asked, opening the envelope she confirmed her worst nightmare was about to come to pass. " You want to divorce me?" Her hands already trembling, Lucy began to whimper.
" You don't mean this, you don't mean any of this. You're just playing a joke on me right? you can't actually be serious, you can't divorce me, we love each other to the moon and back remember? why, why would you want to do that! it's because of this moron of a woman isn't it? she's influencing you to do something you'd regret later on. Please my love think this through, she's doing all of this to get rid of me, we can't part ways because of this!." Lucy began to panic, she couldn't lose her husband this way. Especially not to a woman like Martha, if she succeeds everything Lucy has built would be going to Martha and that would basically mean everything would go down the drain. Like it was nothing to even begin with.
" Martha had no hand in my decision, she has been warning me about you lots of times, and time and time again I have pushed her aside thinking that she must be losing her mind. I didn't know that because I trusted you my mother would have to pay the price. My mother's death opened my eyes and I won't be making the same mistake again, and this time my child is the one I would be protecting from you. I'm not letting the lights of you come in the way of what I've waited five whole years for." Dennis snarled. " Enough of this rubbish talk now, I've signed my part of the document already. Sign your part so we can be free from each other, no, so I can be free from the lights of you, there's no way you're going to escape the law now. Besides, I can't be married to my mother's killer, so the faster you sign those papers, the better it'll be for you and for everyone involved."
" Try to stall this process, and I swear on my mother's grave Lucy. I'll be making your life a living hell." Dennis threatened, he then turned leaving the room but not without Martha giving Lucy a little snug smirk. " Dennis! Please!." Lucy called after him, but he didn't even turn to look at her once.
Lucy sat back down on the chair and sighed in defeat. Martha has won, she has lost everything.
Her husband, her marriage. And now her entire life is about to be lost because of Martha, where did she ever go wrong.
More tears streamed down her face, but she immediately cleaned them as an idea came to her. Since Dennis wanted a divorce she was going to give it to him, but she was determined to make him pay. If he was foolish enough to fall for Martha's ploys and tricks, then he'd also have to participate when Martha receives her punishment, they are in a relationship aren't they?
Lucy's love for Dennis turned into undeniable hatred in an instance, and she knew exactly who shared the exact same feelings with her.
" Guards!." Lucy called out. " I'd like to make a phone call." A sickening smirk could be seen on her face, it was high time she took the low road. Since Martha wanted to fight with dirt on her hands, she was willing
to fight with dirt too.
