Chapter 12 - Realization

After Samuel left, Lucy couldn't stop thinking. She couldn't stop thinking about what she had just agreed to do, though she doesn't regret it one bit. It still bothered her, but Samuel was her only hope right now, sure she didn't know him well enough but he showed interest in helping her, even though his personal motives are behind his desire to help her, but he was certainly better than the people she called family, the people she once trusted with her life.

Lucy sighed as she closed her eyes, she was doing all of this for her baby. She couldn't turn back now. " Mrs Rodman?" An officer called as he walked into the room. " Yes?" Lucy mumbled. " It's time to go, your court case will be starting in an hour." The officer said he walked up to her and began to walk her towards the door.

The officer soon walked her out of the station, different types of police vans could be seen on standby, Lucy was confused. " What are all these vans for, is there a problem or something?" Lucy asked. " Or something ma'am, these vans would be accompanying you to the court house. Just in case you try to do something funny." The officer answered.

" Funny?, you all think that I was going to try and escape?" Lucy sputtered. " We had no hand in this ma'am, your husband was the one who requested for the extra security." The officer said as he placed her in one of the vans, he got in beside her before slamming the door shut.

The little remorse she was feeling seconds ago soon disappeared like a cloud of smoke, this was nothing but otter humiliation. And to think Dennis couldn't do anything more stupid he proved Lucy wrong, he could do more stupid things.

Throughout the ride to the courthouse Lucy couldn't stop thinking about what she had to do. She then remembered what Samuel cautioned her about. " Remember Lucy, after you plead guilty the case would immediately end. Your ex-husband will try to push your buttons, but don't give into your anger. The sooner you leave the court house after your case ends the better it'll be for our plan. I may not be able to help you get out of prison. But I've got some people who'll be protecting you on the inside, so you won't have to worry about being mistreated in there." Lucy sighed. " I'm not worried about that, I know you'll be keeping your end of the deal. My problem is how I'm going to stop myself from pulling that mistress's eye out." She hissed.

" Don't let your anger get the best of you, I already got her charges against you nullified. You attacking her would only make your case worse."

" I know, and thank you for doing that. That woman really wants to see me on the ground." Lucy mumbled. " There's no need for that, plus her report was baseless anyways. My lawyers found a lot of loopholes, so going around it was pretty easy." Samuel said. " Still, thank you."

" No problem, we'll keep in touch." Samuel said as he stood up heading for the door, but before he left he turned back and said. " Oh and before I forget there's something you need to know." Lucy asked, confused. " What is it?"

" One of my lawyers would be waiting for you at the courthouse, he'll make sure that everything goes according to plan so there won't be any surprises popping up. You'll know when you see him."

Lucy sighed as she remembered every detail they discussed. She needed to remain as calm as she could, if she didn't Martha was going to get what she hoped for, and there's nothing Martha would want right now than to see Lucy spend eternity in prison.

Lucy's tummy turned as she remembered that she was supposed to plead guilty in a few hours, would it ruin her pride and reputation, yes it definitely would. But now, nothing mattered more to her than her baby's safety, she was going to make sure no harm comes to her or her child.

Already at the courthouse Martha could do nothing but smirk at herself. It was obvious that she was excited, she was going to witness first hand the downfall of the woman she hated the most.

Her joy knew no bounds. " What do you think is taking them so long?" Roselyn asked, she kept staring at the entrance making Martha roll her eyes.

" To be honest I'm not sure if you're just trying to make me paranoid or trying to make yourself look stupid." Martha insulted. " Lucy will be here. I made sure that Dennis would make a request to the police to add extra security coming with her today. Just in case she gets cold feet and tries something funny."

" I just hope everything goes as planned." Roselyn sighed. " Everything will go as planned, she'll go crazy trying to prove that she didn't kill Louisa. She'll plead innocent in court, the judge will find that every evidence points against her and Lucy would be sentenced before she could even blink. Twenty years max, I'm not sure about these things. But what I'm certain of is that she won't be getting out of prison anytime soon, and everything, absolutely everything that wretched woman took from me would finally be mine." Martha chuckled.

Martha then turned to Dennis, he looked uncomfortable. " My sweet." she laughed as she rubbed his jean covered thighs with her finger tips. " You should really calm down, being stressed doesn't look good on you at all." Dennis sighed as he rubbed his temple. " How can I be calm Martha, that woman hasn't arrived yet."

" And she will be here, she's with the police, remember. Lucy won't be trying anything funny, we made sure of that. And even if she does it'll not be favoring her, she's already in a deep mess." Martha said. " Yes, I guess you're right."

 " I'm alway

s right, my sweet, I'm always right."
