Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 1

Luvuno lay in a hospital bed as countless thoughts rummaged her mind. She had just broken up with her boyfriend. Now her ex though. Daniel had been cheating on her with her best friend, Priscilla, for months now. She was being treated as a clown as she confided in her about the recent behavioral changes of Daniel. She had once thought of the possibility of their affair but she always dismissed the thought as quickly as possible. Later on, she had no choice but to hire the services of an investigator since the suspicion weighed on her mind a lot. At long last, the dreaded outcome was finally at hand with various photos of them visiting a motel. It broke her heart. Priscilla was her best friend since high school whereas she was had been dating Daniel for three years. She stormed in the motel and caught them red-handed. Tears could not help but stream down as the scene replayed in her mind. She left in a huff and was later involved in an accident due to over speeding. The attending Doctor had just informed her that she was two weeks pregnant and she was lucky the accident was not severe and that the air bag also played a part. The Doctor further advised that though no immediate harm came to the baby, the shock was unavoidable so she now had to take care of herself well as any other accident will cause a miscarriage. Luvuno was in a dilemma on whether to inform Daniel of the pregnancy but decided otherwise after a little bit of thought. She clearly remembered the scene at the motel, he wasn't remorseful at all. Finally the sedatives kicked in and she fell asleep.

Days later
..

Luvuno was discharged from the hospital and had to call a taxi as her car was a mangled wreck. Her account will be credited with the insurance benefits. She arrived at her apartment already fatigued. She called in at work for a maternity leave and fortunately it was granted. It seemed Bahati pulled up some favors when she noticed the urgency in her tone. Bahati is a stern faced woman and also appears very taciturn though she is a big softie and very caring to her circle of friends. She didn't ask any questions and just facilitated Luvuno's leave document from work. Luvuno felt gratified from this gesture as she had prepared various excuses to give in a short time. Though she was betrayed by her best friend, decent people still existed. She dragged her feet to the bedroom and fell asleep afterwards, the medications were taking a toll on her. She woke up from the ringing on the doorbell. She dragged her feet to answer the door and to her surprise, Bahati stood there. She was dressed in a pantsuit crafted from Italian silk that hugged her curves perfectly. A crisp, white silk blouse peeked out from her jacket, its delicate lace collar adding a feminine touch. She had her eyebrows up as he stared at me with an inquisitive glance. Luvuno ushered her in the living room in her cozy loungewear as she had not yet taken a shower. She explained the details of what happened in the past days as she teared up after recalling the events that befell her. She really believed to have been cursed but Bahati comforted her throughout her story.

"You have been through a lot girl" Bahati sighed.

"You shouldn't lose heart, at least for the infant in your womb you need to be strong," she advised.

She left for the kitchen to prepare dinner and even promised to stay for a sleepover as she insisted that a person of her current circumstance shouldn't stay alone. She urged Luvuno to take a shower as she cooked. Luvuno took a quick shower as she felt obliged to help in the kitchen but was soon kicked out and reprimanded by Bahati to take a rest. She sprawled on the sofa as she checked out her favorite dramas. Minutes ticked by until she was distracted by an aroma, she gazed her sight to the dining room and found a simple rice and stew already served. She joined Bahati and had a hearty meal that left her wanting for more, though she was already full. This really served to prove her culinary skills were top tier.
