Luvuno had now come to terms with the new hypocritical nature of Priscilla. She had been blind to notice that Priscilla had never been true to her since the beginning. She wanted to smoothly take over the business, all under the hawk's eye of Priscilla. She couldn't let her notice anything amiss that's why she played the ignorant card. She hoped for a foolproof plan but now wasn't the time. She would wait for the smart Alek Bahati to devise one. She decided to take a walk in the park near the estate residence. She also planned to pass by the shopping Centre and buy some groceries. She locked the door and immediately set out. I don't know if it's considered bad luck to this point or pure coincidence, but she actually met Daniel outside the gate. He was chatting with one of her neighbors. What's most surprising is that she never knew that they actually knew each other. The moments he usually came to visit her, he pretended or rather they pretended to not know each other. Alas! They were actually friends and from how they were conversing, they seemed to know each other for a very long time. This completely creeped her out. What was Daniel and the neighbor's intention to feign ignorance upon their encounter? She clearly remembered that she didn't have a good impression of them since they abused the staff of the residence repeatedly. When Daniel saw her, he wore a surprised look but then quickly hid it, the same was for the neighbor which puzzled her greatly. Daniel strode towards her.
"You recovered quite quickly?"
"How did you know about the accident?" Luvuno queried with a very stern gaze.
Daniel averted his eyes and quickly looked over the neighbor with a side eye and he immediately looked away. Luvuno knew something was fishy but she suppressed her curiosity, she resolved her determinations to get to the bottom of this.
"Anyway it doesn't matter, what do you need me for?"
"Can you not blame Priscilla, I had an interest in her and I forced her into our relationship"
His statement to any discerning person would be clear as the sky know that it was scripted. It is as if he was instructed to say these words and how could she not know that it was from Priscilla. It seemed her so called best friend had a lot of secrets that she needed to unearth.
"Yeah, I know you bastard. How could you do this to her? "Luvuno feigned a reproachful tone.
Daniel stared at Luvuno with a disdainful gaze and immediately walked away.
"We are no longer in a relationship, so it is none of your business" he replied in a nonchalant manner.
Though he had walked away, his voice was quite clear. Luvuno as if in instinct, made a wail and ran back to her apartment. Something told her to act in such a manner as it would benefit her. She complied though utterly clueless. She had wanted to tell Daniel about the pregnancy but from his behavior, it seemed he didn't give a damn about her. Daniel was from an upper-class family. His family was especially the definition of wealth. Though she had never interacted much with them. She had visited his home once and felt really uncomfortable and therefore always made excuses not to visit again. There has once been speculations of their source of vast wealth but they were all silenced.
She sent a text to Bahati to buy groceries. She then tuned in to some fantasy idol period dramas that was currently airing. She didn't want to check her phone since she knew it would all be gossip from the residence chat about her. She was glued to the screen until a grumble distracted her attention. She whipped some eggs to go with Ugali and remaining stock of veggies. After she was full, she resumed her binge-watching but it was all for naught. She fell asleep soon afterwards. She woke up to the incessant ringing of the doorbell. She answered the door to see an anxious Bahati. She immediately hugged her tightly.
After what seemed an eternity did she let go.
"I thought you had succumbed to depression after the encounter with Daniel, everyone is talking about it in the estate. I feared you committed suicide. Thank heavens, you are alright." She finished in one breath.
"Let's get in, plus as you can see I'm perfectly fine." She twirled as if it could prove anything.
She helped collect the groceries that were scattered all over the ground. Bahati had dropped them in her anxious state. She then proceeded to pack them in the refrigerator under the questioning gaze of Bahati.
"What really happened today "
She calmly walked to the living room and settled in the long couch and narrated everything. She even pointed out the fishy acts she noticed today. She satisfied Bahati's curiosity to detail. Bahati listened keenly not wanting to miss out any parts of the story.
Bahati took a deep sigh.
"I've been actually meaning to tell you about Priscilla but I figured you wouldn't believe me"
Luvuno was surprised, she never thought there would be a history between them.
"I once caught Priscilla coming out of a club escorting an old man to a Mercedes who was drunk. I figured he was a rich man as there was a bodyguard beside a car. The old man kept grappling the breasts of Priscilla and I intervened. She pushed me aside and entered the car with the man. Not without a hateful glare."
