MILES POV
I woke up to the sounds of the rumbling downstairs.
My mom was probably in the kitchen making breakfast, I thought to myself. I lazily stretched my arm and got out of bed.
"Miles hurry up, I don't want you to be late on your first day of high school " my mom yelled.
"I'm coming Mom" I mumbled. I dragged myself to the bathroom, turned on the shower, and let the water run through my body.
"First day my ass" I heaved a deep sigh.
I got dressed and stared at myself in the mirror. Nothing has changed I thought.
I was always constantly bullied, who could blame them I was weak, I was regarded as the bottom of the food chain, and an easy target.
Well, let's just say I didn't have fun childhood memories growing up, unlike most kids.
I stared deeply into the mirror again, damn these freckles and acne were not helping.
"Miles aren't you going to have breakfast?"
My mom's voice brought me back to my current reality.
"I'll be out in a minute "I sighed.
I put on my glasses in hurry and headed down the stairs.
Yep that's right I wore glasses and it made me look like a freaking nerd but I can't do without them.
That's why I was named "Bat". I hate that name, I hate my school, I hate this freaking town.
I quickened my pace as I ran down the stairs. I hugged my mom and she kissed my cheek.
"Good morning, sweetheart. I hope you slept well."
"It was wonderful," I said lying through my teeth because I've been having trouble sleeping these days.
I keep having weird dreams about a Sliver headman, wolves, and many other things that I couldn't recall because it just comes in flashes.
I pinched the space between my brows.
"What's up, man."
That would be Theodore my best and only friend. We've known each other since we were kids and our moms are best friends so it's natural for us to be close.
We did our secret handshake.
"Woah, I see a ritual going on." My mom giggled as she placed the dishes on the table.
We finally got to school Theo and I were about to run off when my Mom caught my arm and pulled me to herself.
"I told you to always put on your necklace." She said as she hooked it around my neck.
It was a black steel necklace with a silver moon pendant. My mom said it was a family heirloom and it was meant to protect me which I don't believe but I wear it because I don't want to hurt her feelings.
"I'm sorry for taking it off" I rolled my eyes.
"Aww, my son is all grown up and handsome". She chuckled and ruffled my hair.
"Mom ..stop it I'm not a kid anymore" I irritatingly shoved her hands then I turned to look at Theo who was trying to hold the laughter in.
"I hate you, man."
"Mama's boy" crossed his arms and smirked. I wanted to wipe that smug look off his face.
The classroom was filled with students quietly chatting and preparing for the lesson.
I sat at my desk and Theo took the desk next to mine, it was so clear that curiosity was written all over his face.
He has always been curious, well who could blame him. He was not just smart and funny, but also really good-looking.
He had short brown hair and cute brown eyes that made him even more attractive. His smile was so charming.
Unlike me, he was extremely confident mostly at the wrong times though.
Sometimes when I'm around him I tend to question my sexuality because who wouldn't, my best friend was a hottie.
Although he was handsome and had a nice body he was extremely clumsy and also socially awkward.
I shook my head and glanced at him.
"That's why you're stuck with me," I thought.
I was grateful for that because without Theo I would be utterly alone in this world.
"Settle down students we have someone new joining us " Mr Anderson our chemistry teacher said as he dropped his textbook.
"Go on and introduce yourself" he gestured.
"My name is Alexis Taylor. I recently moved here and I'm not excited to be in this class " she frowned.
Well, it was clear she was forced to be here. Although she was pretty, she had this dark and scary Aura that made her seem so unapproachable.
She stared deep into my eyes and I shifted uncomfortably.
"Have a sit" Mr Anderson said to her.
She walked straight to the seat right in front of me and I swallowed hard and she eyed me. I couldn't tell if it was disgust or just her normal facial expression.
Theo moved his chair to enable him to have easy access and he leaned over whispering into my ears.
"I think she likes you. "
I eyed him suspiciously.
"She is kind of hot outside the terrible choice of eye shadow and mascara " he laughed.
I whipped my head around, fixing him with a sharp gaze that cut through the air.
"What " he smirked
"Don't tell me you didn't notice she was staring" he pouted.
"Staring? That was more like death stares" I whispered.
What was even the point of whispering it was obvious she could hear us. I mentally facepalmed, feeling a surge of frustration coursing through me.
"So do you like her" he asked
"You..." I turned as my eyes widened.
"Mr. Theo Rodriguez", Mr. Anderson called out, his eyes piercing with intensity, urging him to return to his desk.
School was finally over Theo and I walked out of the gate chatting as usual. We weren't far off from school when I felt a hand on my shirt dragging me into the woods and pushing me on the ground.
"Let him go!" Theo shouted, his voice filled with urgency. He attempted to help me but he was held hostage by my worst nightmare, Romeo and his gang.
