Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

Miles pov

"There's no need to deny the obvious." I heard a voice from the shadow.

As I blinked my eyes, everything seemed blurry and confusing. With each passing moment, I could feel my life slipping away, my heart pounding in my chest. I struggled to make sense of the figure approaching me.

"Who is there ?" I asked.

In that moment, fear consumed me as the figure drew nearer. My vision, blurred and hazy, prevented me from clearly identifying who it was.

Deep inside, I silently pleaded that it wasn't Alexis, I knew she wanted to kill me. The thought of losing my life was unbearable.

I still have things to do, and places to visit, I haven't even had my first kiss and I was about to die.

I carefully observed the figure and recognized that it was a man. He squatted beside me, moving his head from side to side as he assessed my condition.

"Seems like you've been poisoned with a wolf's bane, maybe with a hint of silver. Whoever did this wanted you dead." The man gently traced the blood on my face with his fingertips.

I stared at the man before me, he didn't have any bad intentions. I hoped with all my heart that he meant no harm. At that point, I wasn't sure how much more I could handle.

I had a hunch he could help me because at that moment I could feel my temperature rising and my breaths were getting slower with every second that passed, I knew I didn't have much time on my side.

"Please help me."I hurriedly grabbed his hands as I pleaded.

He seemed momentarily taken aback, but he quickly regained composure.

He reached out, running his hand through my hair with a gentle touch while I took a deep breath allowing the calming effect to flow through my body.

"Anything for you my dearest nephew.." he whispered.

I was too exhausted to even process his words. I observed as his hands gently touched the sides of my ears, emanating a soft, yet not overpowering, glow.

Suddenly, a surge of pure energy coursed through my veins, relieving me of the pain I had been experiencing.

However, my relief quickly turned into discomfort as the warmth transformed into a burning sensation, and a wave of nausea washed over me.

"Shh, it's just part of the healing process." His voice was so reassuring.

I managed to break free from his grip and, in a rush, I emptied my stomach as I leaned against a nearby tree for support.

"There, get it all out and you'll be just fine." He said.

I used my hand to wipe the black blood from my mouth,I was about to say something when my head started ringing again and I screamed in pain.

I fell to the ground, shaking vigorously. I didn't know what was happening and I was so scared.

I kept on seeing different images, hearing voices all at once and it felt like I was losing my mind.

"Sleep." The man commanded, his voice eluded power and authority that I couldn't even resist, although I didn't want to, I felt my eyes flickered with drowsiness and I fell into the darkness.

The smell of honey filled my nostrils and I yawned lazily not wanting to get from the bed then I heard a footstep approaching.

"Mom please I don't feel like going to school today," I mumbled with my face still pressed on the pillow.

"Your mom is not here."I heard a voice and realization hit me that I was not with my mom but a strange man.

I quickly got up and moved to the edge of the bed.

"Hey, I won't hurt you I promise." The man said raising his hands showing he was unarmed.

I glared at him sceptically and he noticed this too.

"It's not like I don't want to hurt you if I could but your mom will put my head on a spike if she finds out." The man laughed.

I stared at him as different questions filled my head, did this man know my mom?

"Do you want to hurt me," I asked curiously.

I needed to know what I was dealing with, my mind was already cooking up multiple escape plans because I didn't plan on staying long.

"I won't I promise." The man replied.

He stretched out a small bowl filled with honey but I still maintained my scepticism.

"I made honey soup." He added.

"What am I a bee? I don't want it" I reject it immediately because I've been poisoned enough for one day.

"If I was going to poison you why would I have saved you in the first place?"The man pushed the bowl into my hands.

His words actually made sense why heal me if he was going to kill me still I don't trust me. He did heal me with his hands and I wondered what he was.

"Who are you? what are you?" I asked furiously because at this moment my mind is unable to process all the strange events that have occurred this morning.

"My name is Jeremiah I'm your uncle and also a witch but technically it's supposed to be called a warlock or wizard. "

Jeremiah paced back and forth in the room, he counted his steps while crossing his hands behind his back.

"What? that's not right. I don't have an uncle and I certainly do not believe there's anything called witches." I said, shaking my head in denial.

"You don't know because your memories have been locked, that's one of the reasons why your head has been ringing quite a lot"

Jeremiah continued his explanation, going into more detail which got me even more confused.

"How do you know about that ?" I was surprised because even my mom had no idea about it.

"Yeah, like I mentioned before, I'm a witch," Jeremiah said, smirking confidently.

I was dumbfounded and it felt like I had experienced a similar situation before. I tried to recall the details, but unfortunately, my memory failed me.

"I don't believe you are a witch but if you have something that can help me recover my memories I'll take it."

Jeremiah snapped his fingers and he conjured a bowl, he didn't have to tell what was inside because the hot steam of freshly boiled herbs hit my nostrils.

"I must warn you that this might hurt and be sure to hold onto that honeycomb because the taste isn't so pleasant," Jeremiah said and he handed me the bowl.

I stared at the little bowl and swallowed hard. My instinct was screaming at me not to take it. Within me I knew I was taking a step I couldn't retract but how bad could it be I thought.

I finally summoned courage and forced the medicine down my throat.
