Miles pov
I finally summoned courage and forced the medicine down my throat.
The bitterness made me cough uncontrollably. So, I grabbed the honeycomb and gulped down all of its sweetness and I was relieved.
"See that wasn't so hard was it?" Jeremiah's laughter filled the room.
I shot him a fierce glare, giving him a sneering look. Then, I quickly wiped the liquid off my mouth with the back of my hand.
"So? How do you feel?"Jeremiah asked with curiosity written all over his face.
I scoffed inwardly, I was so dumb to believe this crazy man for his words.
"I don't feel anything." I let out an exasperated sigh and stood up from the bed, rolling my eyes.
Jeremiah hastily rushed to a table that was not far from where I was, he quickly flipped through the pages of a book.
"I was careful about mixing the potions," Jeremiah muttered under his breath.
"I can't believe that for a moment I believe your dumb words, maybe I'm the one going crazy. Okay, I probably just need to sleep and I'll be back at home with my mother who's trying to wake me up for school."I let out a long exhale.
"This isn't real, everything is fine it's all a dream," I reassured myself as I made my way back to the bed, lying down and closing my eyes, hoping to drift off to sleep.
"What are you doing?"Jeremiah asked with a stern look on his face.
"Go away I'm trying to sleep" I grumbled, tugging the quilt to the other side as I turned my body to face the wall.
"Why would you do that?"
"Because this isn't real and keep your voice I'm trying to sleep," I said not sparing him a glance.
Suddenly I felt a cane against my butt and I wailed out in pain.
"Ouch!" I exclaimed, leaping up from the bed and angrily yanking the quilt off my body. "Why did you do that?"
"Did that feel real enough for you nephew?" Jeremiah pouted teasingly.
"I'm not your nephew." I fueled, marching to the door.
"Where do you think you are going?"Jeremiah asked, crossing his arms as he gave me a perplexed gaze.
"Away from you," I yelled and opened the door.
I held my breath as I peeped outside. It was like we were floating in the sky, with no land in sight, just clouds as far as the eye could see. I hurriedly closed the door and turned back to Jeremiah.
"What is this?" I asked furiously, feeling my heartbeat pounding against my chest.
"Calm down, it's just my tree house," Jeremiah assured me.
"Tree houses are meant to be on trees not in the sky." I rambled.
"I know, it's actually on a tree I Just used my powers to make it look that way," Jeremiah explains.
"Your?..you have powers."
"Yes exactly what I've been trying to say, now just hold on for a moment let me fix your memories," Jeremiah said as he buried his face in a book, flipping through the pages.
"I'm done with this whole shenanigans," I said, turning to reach for the doorknob.
I felt my body go stiff, my eyes widened when I saw the blanket wrapped around my body.
"What is this?" I yelled trying to free myself from the blanket.
"Perfect that should hold you until I make another potion." Jeremiah gave a satisfactory smile and turned to his book.
"Let me go you kidnapper," I screamed, continuing my struggle.
"Kidnapper? I saved your life, you begged me to save you. So quit screaming before you attract attention." Jeremiah hissed.
"If he doesn't want me to scream, there might be someone nearby," I thought, trying to stay quiet.
"Let me g..." I tried to scream once more, but a sudden, intense pain struck my head as a piece of wood made contact, causing me to crumple to the ground.
"Quit screaming so I can fix you. How do you expect me to come up with a solution if you won't shut up." Jeremiah sighed"This is exactly why I don't have kids."
Jeremiah looks down at me, making a disapproving sound with his tongue and shaking his head.
"You..." I muttered and slowly his image faded as I closed my eyes.
I slowly opened my eyes and saw Jeremiah. When he noticed I was awake he strode over to meet me and he leaned forward.
"Welcome nephew." He smirked.
I was about to protest and I realized that he glued my mouth with tape,my body was still wrapped in the blanket tightly. I struggled for a moment and I decided to give it up.
"Good to see you finally decided to give up. I am going to remove the tape so we can talk and if you scream again It goes back on ." Jeremiah arched his brows.
I was still panting heavily from all the struggle. I glared at him and nodded. Jeremiah smiled, he reached for the tape and yanked it off.
"Ouch, it hurts." I wailed.
"Well, it's nothing you can handle." Jeremiah laughed.
"Really? You dare to laugh at what you did to me." I scoffed.
"No, I didn't do anything." Jeremiah retorted back.
"You kidnapped me," I yelled.
"No I saved you." He corrected.
"You hit me across my head." I barked.
"You were screaming like a lunatic. what did you expect me to do besides it's just a small wound, you will heal." He replied nonchalantly.
"Wound?" I muttered trying to turn so I could see the back of my head even though I knew it was impossible.
"You're fine, stop moving so you can drink this." He said stretching a bowl filled with herbs.
"I'm not drinking anymore of your brewed concoctions."I spat moving backwards.
"Concoctions? Now I'm quite offended, but unlucky you don't have a say in this matter."
Jeremiah smirked and raised his hand, making me open my mouth. I tried to close it, but he approached me with a bowl. I moved back, but he held me down and forced the liquid down my throat.
"That should solve the memory loss problem." He said softly giving my hair a gentle pat.
I felt an incredibly terrible headache and it began to affect my eyes.
"Ahhh!" I exclaimed.
I managed to break free from the blanket and grabbed my head, feeling intense pain. All my memories flashed before my eyes, everyone my mom had erased.
When I looked at Jeremiah, I growled at him, sensing his fear.
"You.. your eyes." He stuttered.
I growled again, I could feel my control slipping away my bones began to crack as I felt a change occur within my body. My claws started growing out as they left claw marks on the wooden floor.
"What's happening to me," I growl as I can feel tears from my eyes.
The pain was unbearable, I felt as if something was trying to force its way out of my body.
"This can't be happening, it's not time for you to shift." He stuttered, I could feel the panic within him.
"What did you do to me, you psycho." I let out a fierce growl, twisting to the side while clutching my stomach. My veins bulged, and I started panting heavily.
"Calm down, just try and breathe okay."
"This is your fault and this is happening because of that thing you gave me to drink." I groan.
It went dark for a moment, I blinked and I could see Jeremiah retreating as he moved with fear.
My vision was blurry and red but I knew it was him, I could smell it.
The pain had stopped but I feel strength and anger I had never felt coursing through my veins.
As I moved closer, he kept retreating, grabbing a piece of wood and hurling it at my head, shattering it into fragments. In response, I effortlessly lifted him and tossed him across the room, causing him to crash onto the ground.
I used my strength to burst through the door jumped out and I landed on the ground.
I was back in the woods when I heard footsteps approach and I turned to meet the gaze of my mother I felt rage and I growled at her.
