Chapter 16 - chapter 16

Miles stared down from the window as his mother's car drove from the garage.

He could feel the anger in raising his chest. All these years he lived in an illusion, It wasn't real.

Tears threatened to fall from his eyes when memories kept running through his mind.

He could remember everything as clearly as day.

All his life he was bullied because he was weak. He had to live with terrible skin problems not to mention his poor health.

He spent half of his life living on drugs, and constant medication and he wasn't even ill. Everything was just to suppress whatever thing that was inside of him.

He felt his pulse rising when he remembered what he did to Alexis.

He was a monster and he knew it.

Miles was curled up into a ball, crying his eyes out.

He jolted for a moment when his phone started ringing.

The sound was so intense which caused him to groan in pain clenching his head.

He wrinkled his eyes then he picked up the phone.

His eyes softened for a moment when he saw it was Theo. The last time they saw each other was that day at the library and it was obvious he was worried about his best friend.

Miles swallowed hard contemplating whether to answer the call or not.

He missed his friend so much. He wanted to blab about everything that was happening but whenever he remembered what he did to Alexis his heart dropped.

He couldn't bear to harm his best friend. At this moment the best protection he could offer was to stay away until he found a way to fix himself.

Miles dropped the phone and with a heavy heart, he leaned against the wall, slowly sliding down till he was crouching on his knees.

"Miles! Miles!" He heard a voice call out to him.

The voice was faint, and it seemed to be coming from the window. Miles couldn't help but be curious, so he raised his head to get a better view outside.

After straining his neck for some time he sighed in frustration.

He opened the window but he didn't see anyone. Just when he was able to close it he heard Theo's voice.

"Hey, stranger!" Theo remarked with a smirk.

Miles was so shocked that he nearly lost his balance.

"Theo." Miles widened his eyes, unsure whether to believe what was happening was true.

"Yep, it's me. Where have you been dude? I've been looking everywhere for you." Theo sighed.

Miles bit his lips inwardly trying to come up with a good excuse but his brain wasn't helping.

"I even had my mom put up a search warrant for you. I thought something bad happened. What happened to you." Theo continued to ramble with the questions.

"I wasn't feeling too well." Miles lied.

He felt a sting in his heart when he saw Theo's eyes drop with sadness.

"But I'm fine now. The doctor said I'm okay, it was nothing I couldn't handle." Miles flashed a smile, hoping Theo was buying his story.

Theo watched his friend with a stern gaze. He was relieved to see he was okay but he couldn't shake off the feeling that Miles was hiding something.

"Still you should have answered my calls, or my text, or even my emails." Theo frowned.

Miles dropped his head thinking of the best approach to tackle this situation. He hates lying to his best friend but at this moment he doesn't have a choice.

"I'm sorry. I promise I'll never do it ever." Miles apologizes with all sincerity.

Theo feigned annoyance for a moment but he burst into laughter.

"Come here you." Theo smiled pulling Miles in an embrace.

"I missed you so much," Miles said.

Theo hopped onto Miles' bed, plopping down and crossing his legs tightly. Miles lay on the bed, mirroring Theo's position.

"Aren't you supposed to be in school?" Miles raised a brow.

"Yeah, I know." Theo retorted.

"So what are you doing here?" Miles crossed his arm narrowing his brows at his friend.

"Don't tell me you're skipping classes," Miles added.

"What does it look like I'm doing," Theo said adjusting himself on the bed.

Miles watches his friend, unsure of what to say. When Theo noticed his friend was not getting the message he rolled his eyes.

"Of course, I'm skipping class." Theo retorted, gesturing his hands in the air with frustration.

"Your mom is going to kill you then me then she is going to kill you again." Miles sighed by pressing a hand on his chin.

"Whatever, besides school is boring without you." Theo shrugged his shoulders even further on the bed.

"Besides my mom has been busy these days. She barely even has time for me." Theo sighed.

Theo threw a glance at Mile's and his brows perked up in suspicious.

"Dude, are you okay?" He asked with a stern gaze.

"Yeah, what's up," Miles replied nervously.

"I don't know. I think you look differently." Theo said.

Mile's heart panted against his chest, wondering if Theo was catching on to his secret.

Theo flickered his lashes. He tilted his head to the side taking in Miles's appearance.

Miles shifted uncomfortably when Theo came close to him.

"Theo.. what is it?"Miles stuttered.

"Your hair looks different" Theo wrinkled his eyes reaching out to touch Miles's hair.

"It's firmer and I think it even grew out," Theo said with his hands still running through Miles's hair.

Miles blinked his eyes in confusion, unsure about what Theo was talking about.

"Wow, your skin is smooth. What products did you use." Theo asked, his voice filled with curiosity.

He went over to the mirror to confirm Theo's words and he was shocked by his new appearance.

He stared deep into the mirror turning his face sideways to get a good look.

To his amazement, he realized he didn't need his glasses anymore.

His skin was clear without any bleaches or uneven tone.

"Wow!" Miles exclaimed. "This is incredible." He remarked.

Never did he expect that being a werewolf came with such perks.

"Werewolf." This was one word he didn't think he was ever going to get used to.

"You look amazing." Theo gushed.

"I know right," Miles said in bewilderment.

"Hey did you hear about that dead teenager the cops found?" Theo retorted.

"Dead girl." Miles' eyes widened in shock as panic rose inside him.
