Chapter 7 - chapter 7

Alaric Pov

I slammed the door to my car, frustratingly muttering.

"She never listens, no matter what!"

She's going to need my help sooner or later I said to myself.

"Good morning detective" Thompson my partner greeted as he walked by my side.

I found myself at a gruesome crime scene.

The lifeless bodies of several livestock lay scattered across the ground, their blood staining the earth.

I narrowed my eyes when I noticed the strange symbols etched into the ground, hinting at a possible ritualistic connection. My instinct told me that these innocent animals were used as sacrifices.

As I examined the scene, Officer Thompson's voice broke me from my concentration.

"Detective, what do you make of this? It looks like something out of a horror movie."Thompson's voice carried a mix of concern and curiosity as he spoke.

I glanced up, meeting his gaze.

"I agree, Thompson. These symbols and the way the animals were positioned suggest a ritualistic element. We need to dig deeper and find any leads that could help us solve this case."

"Do you think it's some sort of cult activity? Sacrificing animals for some twisted belief?"Thompson nodded, his eyes scanning the area.

"It's too early to say, Thompson. We can't jump to conclusions just yet. We need to gather evidence, interview witnesses, and follow every lead."I sighed." Let's start by talking to the local farmers and see if they've noticed anything suspicious."

Thompson nodded, his eyes reflecting the seriousness of the situation.

"Right, Detective. I'll start rounding up the farmers for questioning. Hopefully, someone saw or heard something that can help us crack this case."

I placed a reassuring hand on Thompson's shoulder.

"We'll get to the bottom of this." I walked off to a side not far from the scene, I took my phone and dialed Priscilla's number.

"What is it ?" She asked sharply.

I couldn't help but imagine the kind of funny facial expression she might be having right now.

"We need to talk" I glanced at the gruesome scene and " I don't think bloodhounds were the only things Lucifer brought to Green Hills."

"What do you mean "

"You might need to come and see this." I stared at the Thompson as he interviewed the witness.

A huge part of me already knew the cause of this, but I had no evidence to prove it.

Not quite long ago a car parked to my side and Priscilla came, looking dashing as always.

Her dark curly hair fell past her shoulders. She was slim and had a part shape, the sun illuminating her fine silky skin and for a second I was mesmerized just like I was 16 years ago.

At that time she just turned 16, the first day I saw her was on the day of the announcement of the engagement.

She had a hair of timidity and fragility about her. She was a bit shy and delicate, with beautiful grey eyes that yearned for love and care. As soon as I saw her, I felt this strong desire to protect her.

She had a gentle aura and a sweet smile that could brighten even the darkest heart. Her presence was graceful and elegant, and she had this quiet strength that made her even more captivating.

One glance at her I could tell she had changed so much.

Her step exuded an air of fierceness, donning snug tight gean and her black folded sleeves. The shy girl was long gone or probably buried somewhere within.

"Looking fierce as always love" I teased. She ignored my words and walked straight to the scene.

"She's with me," I said, waving my hand dismissively as an officer attempted to stop her.

She confidently made her way through the crime scene, her eyes darting from side to side taking in the lifeless bodies of several livestock lay scattered across the ground.

"Gloves," she said holding out her palm towards me and I placed it on her hands.

Crouching down she inquired" Do you see anything common among these dead animals."

"Well, besides the obvious fact that they're all dead, I don't see any similarities," I shrugged, while she gave me a perplexed look.

"All the animals had their throats slashed, and the blood flowed through the inscriptions dug into the ground," she demonstrated, her fingers tracing the path in the air.

"If you follow the blood trail, it forms two interconnected circles."

"I have a feeling this theory is leading us somewhere," I mused, crossing my arms thoughtfully.

She let out an annoyed sigh and pressed on.

"You know, when you connect those two circles, it forms the number eight which spiritually represents a new beginning." she stood up and removed her gloves, stating firmly, "I just don't think this is some kind of sacrificial act."

"What do you think then."

"This is a ritual preparation for a sacrifice that is meant to bring a new beginning." Hearing her say that sent shivers down my spine.

"I hardly doubt if that new beginning is going to bring positivity."

"Two circles joined together is the number eight, but this spell is ancient and according to legend it was used by the Consejo de four."

"you mean the council of four." Alaric gave a stern expression"So you're saying they are behind this."

"That's the only lead for now."

"If the council is behind this then we are in a dire situation."I could feel a headache coming in.

"I thought the Consejo de four were dead and never to be resurrected." I continued.

"That was what they made us believe but there was one last member that was able to escape the cleansing." Her gaze bored into my eyes and I feared for the worst.

"Lucifer" she muttered as confusion flushed over my face.

"So you're saying that Lucifer was a member of the Consejo de four, wow no wonder he's psychotic."He said and I couldn't hold back the laughter.

She ran her hand furiously through her hair.

"This isn't funny Alaric.

As a druid I grew up hearing tales about the Consejo de four, they were the most powerful supernatural beings tasked with maintaining balance and order in the supernatural world.

However, as time went on they delved into dark magic causing chaos to be unleashed upon the world.

They were formidable, their quest for power was insatiable, making them virtually invincible.

They were so powerful that they couldn't be killed, their souls had to be sealed and their bodies never to be found.

"If we were to believe what we were told each member's soul was sealed, so how's Lucifer still...?"

"He cast a soul switching switch spell." She replied.

"So that would mean the soul that was sealed?..."

"Was never Lucifer's" she chipped in.

"How do you know about all these."

"He told me after he burnt my mom alive for betraying him," she said with no emotion.
