Priscilla pov
I watched as Miles and Theo walked into their school I sighed heavily. In a few days he was going to be turning 16 and I wouldn't be able to keep on lying to my son.
This illusion of a normal life was going to be over and the peace will soon be gone. It breaks my heart to the realization that once the truth was out my son might hate me.
My phone rang pulling me out of my thoughts.
"Ma'am your presence is needed " Lucinda my assistant spoke.
" Roger that Captain" I revved up the engine and hit the road."
I closed the door of my car and stared at my diner.
" Hard work does pay off "I smirked as I walked in.
"Hard work does pay off with a little help," echoed a voice that sent shivers down my spine. I spun around, only to be met with the sight of a face I knew all too well.
"Still playing the mind-reading game, huh?" I frowned, my expression conveying a mix of annoyance.
"What are you doing here Alaric" I added.
"I missed an old friend " he grinned mischievously, his lips curling into a sly smile.
"Friends" I scoffed.
Alaric and I were just two souls bound by an ill-fated betrothal that was supposed to unite my coven and the druids, but I ruined everything by getting pregnant with a werewolf baby.
Then I had to run away to save my child because my covens saw him as a threat, a child that could end their existence.
I was able to run and successfully hide for 16 years with the help of Alaric even though I had hurt him badly. The fact that he was here could only mean one thing my family had found me and they were coming for miles.
"The coven is here for your son," he said, his face etched with a grave expression.
I grabbed his arm, signaling for him to lower his voice.
"No witch talk here."
I took him to my office and sat on my chair.
Alaric gave my office a stern look and said, "So, this was the best you could do, princess?" Alaric said giving her office a stern look.
He placed his hands on the table, leaning forward. I took a moment to observe his appearance and noticed that he hadn't changed much.
His skin was as pale as freshly fallen snow, smooth and silky to the touch. His deep blue eyes sparkled, perfectly complementing his silver hair that always made him stand out.
My eyes landed on his broad shoulders, covered by a sleek black suit and a v-neck t-shirt.
The exposed smoothness of his chest drew my attention, and I couldn't help but notice the betrothal necklace around his neck, a symbol of our past.
This man standing before me was a stark contrast to the boy I once knew. He exuded an irresistible allure, a temptation that was hard to resist.
"I can tell I've got your attention though. Can't blame you!" He winked, clearly enjoying the moment.
I quickly averted my gaze, thinking to myself, What was I even doing, shamelessly staring like that?
A mischievous smirk played across his face as he casually crossed his fine legs, one over the other.
"It's alright to stare after all I'm a temptation that is hard to resist," he teased, tilting his head to the side. With a finger, he traced a playful circle on the table before us.
A rush of embarrassment flooded my face. With a swift flick of my hand, I unleashed my powers, causing him to stumble back, his back forcefully meeting the wall.
He clutched his chest and slowly lifted his gaze, his silver hair cascading over his piercing blue eyes. With a smirk, he uttered.
"You're as feisty as ever, my dearest Priscilla."
"Sorry it was a reflex action," I said adjusting my sleeves.
He sat back in his chair "Reflex "he scoffed.
"Why don't you tell me the reason why you are here Alaric"
"The coven sensed your boy's power, only for a second though but it was just enough time to track him and they are coming for him."
A tightness gripped my chest as the realization of my worst nightmare sank in, rendering me speechless.
Priscilla, where is he?" he asked, his curiosity evident.
"Has he shifted into his true form?" he questioned with a keen expression on his face.
I squirmed in my chair, feeling uneasy, as he carefully observed my expression. It was as if he was trying to decipher the thoughts behind my eyes.
I could sense his curiosity growing, making me even more uncomfortable.
"Does he even know what he is" he stared into my eyes and I averted his gaze
" You know are aware of the peril and the repercussions of severing the man from the wolf" he emphasized, continuing," Born an alpha, he's a hybrid." as he paced restlessly.
" Did you even think this through"He added.
"I did what was best for my son to give him a normal life."
"You did what was best for your son or what you felt was best for you." His words sliced through my heart.
"Painting your little fantasy, residing in this illusion" he jeered, tossing his hands up in mock exasperation.
"You have no idea what I've been through."
"And whose fault was that " he snapped.
"Everything started when you decided to throw everything for a werewolf who didn't want you."
I struggled to suppress the tears; it was entirely my fault. I shouldn't have allowed my emotions to overcome me.
" I made a mistake and one I will never regret and I will turn the world into ashes if I have to protect him" My eyes hardened.
"You understand he will hate you once he realizes the truth."
" My only wish is for my son to be safe nothing else matters."
"Very well if you must protect your son be ready to face your family especially your father ... Lucifer." Alaric sighed" He tells everyone that Miles is the demon child, born to bring death to all witches and destroy the supernatural."
"That exactly isn't the first time he's said it"I shrugged " Aren't you going to get in trouble for talking to me? "I asked.
He leans forward, grasps my chin and his lips curve into a smile.
"That's the whole point ..love ."
The door swung open abruptly, and Theo rushed in, gasping for breath as if he had been running for his life.
"Theo!" I blurted out, my face contorted in confusion as I quickly stood up and hurried over to him.
"Hey, where's Miles?" I inquired, holding onto Theo's shoulders and giving him a little shake as he gasped for air.
"He... he..."
"What happened to him?" I asked, shaking him a little harder by the shoulders, desperate for an answer.
Alaric pulled me " Calm down before you hurt someone."
"Where is he". My voice was filled with frustration.
" We.. we were on our way from school when we were ambushed by some bullies." He stuttered.
"Go to your mother, I'll find him" I cupped Theo's cheek giving him a reassuring smile.
I quickly pulled my hair up into a messy ponytail as I walked out of the building, with Alaric right behind me. Just as we were about to hop into my car, he suddenly pulled me towards him.
We were so close that I could catch a whiff of his captivating perfume. It was divine.
"Your father is here" he whispered.
" It's obvious he wants to talk to you"
"I don't feel like talking."
" Talk to your father although I get the feeling he's just a distraction.
"So what are you suggesting"
He smirked, "I'll find your son and bring him back."
"What if I don't trust you."
"Well, you gotta trust me on this one. If you start a fight now, you won't win and who knows, the coven might have already gotten him."
I glared at him.
"I can help you but you owe me one."
I frowned" I cast a locator spell, it should help you find miles."I handed him the compass, and in an instant, he disappeared into thin air.
"Hello Priscilla," I heard the voice of the man who had brought me nothing but pain and torment. It had been 16 years, yet he didn't look a day older. One of the perks of being a witch, I suppose.
I forced a smile and turned to meet his gaze.
"Well, well if it isn't Lucifer "
"I see you still resent your father". He remarked.
