Chapter 1 - Marks of a Vampire

"This is a tale I put together from the memories I gathered on the surface. The tale of the 1st king of vampires and the rise of Höchste Blutheim. This is the tale for the next heir to the throne. Hopefully they will heed this warning." A man said with a beautifully relaxing voice. He spoke softly as he sat in a room only lit up by a singular lamp. Sitting in front of a window in a long, red cloak being complimented by the glow. 6 people were in the room behind him, listening to him silently as he man opened a book. "Hmm, I don't wanna tell the beginning just yet so we'll start a couple years after the first awakening" The pages flipped on its own, turning multiple pages until after it reached somewhere near the middle of the 12th chapter. "We'll start here." The matured man said as the pages stopped.

[Manhattan, New York 2019. (Friday, June 14th)]

"This is the third death this week and two holes in her neck like the other victims, how the hell does this guy keep getting away with this? Didn't we receive another report about a man, a couple blocks from here. What's the progress on that one." The Detective said as he pulled the cover over the victim's head.

"Yeah he's breathing and on his way to the hospital as we speak." A younger detective said as he put his phone in his pocket.

"He has bite marks as well, right." The older Detective said as he backed away from the body and pulled out a cigarette.

"Please don't say vampires, Detective Henry." The younger detective said as he walked closer to the victim's body.

"Are you serious Eli? It's probably the same guy that showed up the first night…. Well now that you mention it, he kinda had some similarities to a vam-" Detective Henry was cut off as one of the policemen shouted to them.

"I found some blood over here!" The policeman said as he waved to get their attention.

The two detectives quickly caught up to him and followed him to the blood. When they got there, they knew it wasn't no ordinary blood stain as it stretched down the block like it was dragged.

"Was there any witnesses?" Detective Eli asked as he looked at the buildings around him

"Yeah there was some kid in all black, he also had a black surgical mask, he was coming from somewhere down the street. He said there was somebody walking from high school #86's dumpster with blood around his face." The Policeman said as he pointed down one of the street corners.

"Fucking hell-" Detective Eli said as he rubbed his nose in stress.

"A dumpster?" Detective Henry questioned before he walked back to his car.

"The guy who told you this info, did he have any distinct features we could use to find him."Detective Eli said as he pulled out his phone.

"Yeah, actually she seemed to have these weirdly colored red eyes as well." The Policeman said as he hovered his hand.

"That's all? She wasn't wearing anything notable? Not even a brand name on any of her clothes" Detective Eli said as he wrote all the details on his phone.

"No. Everything seemed to be fine, including the kid." The Policeman weirdly insisted.

"I see, well let me hold your body can. Your shifts are nearly over so I'll let the chief know I have it." Detective Eli said as he waited for him to place it in his hand.

"For what?" The Policeman said as he covered his camera.

"…Just in case me and my partner run into some trouble." Detective Eli said in a sharp tone.

"H-here sir." The Policeman said as he Reluctantly gave him the camera.

"...Goodnight officer." Detective Eli said as he got into the car.

"R-right sir." The Policeman said as he watched them drive off.

As the detectives drove off, Detective Eli tried to watch the Policeman in the side mirrors, it was like he vanished.

"That officer was hiding something." Detective Eli said as he looked at the buildings ahead.

"Is that why you took his cam? You know he was supposed to return with that."Detective John said as he drifted around a corner.

"The chief will let it slide." Detective Eli said as he saw a blood stain near a pole.

As they drove towards high #86, the Policeman ran down the street and into one of the open buildings. There he met the kid he described to the Detective.

"Are they all gone?" The kid asked as pulled his hoodie off his head.

"Yes master." The Policeman said as he kneeled down in front of him.

"Alright, take me home. It's too far from here but make sure no one sees me." The kid said as he walked past him.

"Yes of course master." The Policeman seemed like a simple minded servant as he followed the kid's orders rather obediently.

After nearly 25 minutes of driving, the Policeman finally dropped the kid off, nearly three blocks away from his home.

"Go." The kid said after he got out of the car.

"Yessir, Milord." The Policeman said as he closed the door.

"Why the hell do they all talk like that?" The kid thought as he watched the car drive away.

"It's getting harder and harder to stop myself from getting blood straight from their veins, I might need to start working more hours for the blood packs." The kid said after he turned around and started running to his house.

[Nearly 4 minutes later]

He frantically searched for his keys as he made it up to the entrance of his home although just as he made it to the door, it swung open.

When the door swung open a man who seemed to be near his 20s was now standing in his way. "Yeah I'm about to get in- I'll call you back." He said while as he slowly put his phone away.

"Christian! When did you get here?" The kid said in a surprised tone.

"You just finished hunting didn't you." Christian said angrily as he walked up to him.

"What? No, I was on my way home after school." The kid said before he tried to walk past him.

"There's no need to lie, I just spoke with dad and he said three more victims with the same wounds appeared downtown." Christian said as he pushed the kid back. "Kyle, you're starting to lose control so after tonight, we'll be the main source of blood." Christian said in an assertive tone as he stood in his way.

"I'm not losing anything and I don't need someone else to get me what I need. I could do it myself and I won't get caught once." Kyle said as he rushed past him and headed into the house.

"Fucking brat. You're gonna get us all killed." Christian said as the door was slammed shut and his phone started to ring. "Hello." Christian said as he answered the phone while heading to his car.

"Something happened?" A male voice replied from the other side of the call.

"Nah… nothing. Also we got to talk about Kyle." Christian said as he stood in front of him.

The kid watched as Christian got in his car and drove off through the curtain and waited a couple of minutes checking if his parents car would enter the driveway. After a couple of minutes he quickly turned off all the lights in his house except for his room and the bathroom that was across the hall from it.

He entered his room which was dark and cold, like a chamber. He took off all of his clothes and went into the bathroom and stared at himself in the mirror. The kid had curly hair that hung just above his ears and two small dot shaped scars on his chest, right above his heart. He also had blood around his lips which he tried to wipe off but gave up as it was just spreading. He quickly went into the shower.

The detectives were on their way to the hospital that the surviving victim was sent to after inspecting the dumpsters that the policeman reported earlier.

"He went for two people tonight and you couldn't catch him once?! There's witnesses! At this time of night this guy should've been caught already!" The chief yelled over the police radio, obviously trying to remain calm.

"Well sir, there were actually three, one of them reported that a young boy saw a man dragging a body towards one of the high school dumps." Detective Eli said in an indifferent tone, knowing that the Chief was going to get pissed off again.

"Detective Eli." The Chief said in a completely flat tone.

"Sir?" Detective Eli said in a confused tone.

"Detective Henry." The Chief said in a somehow flatter tone.

"Yeah?" Detective Henry said after he wasn't listening.

"(Sigh) Disconnect from this channel until you can get me updates relating to this case." The Chief calmed down after he took a deep breath. "There's too much going on at the moment, before this I received a report from the officers near 125th street about a shootout going on in one of them and they need backup. I want you two to stay on this case while we deal with this over here. Stay safe Detectives and I apologize about earlier." The Chief's voice was sincere before he kicked them off the channel.
