Chapter 4 - The vampire

"Trevor, you've been recording me for quite a time now haven't you. I noticed earlier that the sight of this city is too beautiful not to embrace but the buildings are awfully tall." The man said as he picked up the cameraman by his hair.

"I- agree." The cameraman said obediently as he stood up and ignored the throbbing pain from his hair being pulled.

"You're taller, this boy is really small compared to you adult humans." The man said as he let go of his hair. "Come." The man said as he started walking back to the edge of the roof.

The cameraman obediently followed him like a dog as he kept the camera up and followed along the man's every step until they reached the edge.

"Wait, give me the camera." The man said as he bumped his chest with his hand.

"Yes milord." He said as the camera footage paned to the ground before quickly turning back to the city.

"Line up your feet up with mines and then look down." The man said as he pointed the camera at him.

The cameraman almost seemed as if he was dead, while he lined his feet up with the man's feet and looked down but then once he looked down, his facial expression was warped immediately as if he just awoken from a nightmare.

He started to lose his balance as the shock from staring down the 40 story building with his feet near the edge. "W-w-where he-" before he could finish his sentence, the man pushed him.

His screams filled the air as he fell and soon faded as he got too far from the roof. The camera footage cutoff once the screaming disappeared but resumed- looking up at a building. A building that had screams getting louder and louder.

"Ahh~ the greatest delicacy man has to offer us. Blo-" The footage suddenly cut out as the cameraman became a bit easier to make out.

"That's all we are able to release as the rest of the footage shows the man falling to his death. This was the first death by the nan from the first night, the man who was killed by him was Tommy Ckoljak. He is the reason we are able to identify the man from the first night and shall be missed. Prayers to the family of the victims who died by his hand. And we all hope this maniac is caught and detained for the safety of not only us but our children." The News Anchor said as Kyle's mother looked at the tv with an expression he's never seen. Mother quickly headed into the kitchen as the subject in the news changed.

And Christian waved to Kyle- signaling him to come over. And as he did, he stood in front of him, rather than sitting down. He stared at the seat next a couple seconds long before trying to walk to a chair so he wouldn't have to hear what Christian had to say. But just as he decided to turn around, Christian pulled him down onto the couch.

*What the fuck is wrong with you?! Why didn't you tell us about this one?* Christian whispered in a slightly perplexed tone as he unintentionally started squeezing Kyle's arm.

*..I never went to that area, get the hell off me.* Kyle whispered back as he tried to pull away from him.

Christian's head flew back in shock as he stared at the tv screen, remembering how the man in the footage looked and turned his head back to Kyle with a frustrated look on his face.

*Don't fucking lie to me, I just saw you on the fucking news and fucking Eli is investigating you as well.* Christian whispered through his teeth as he squeezed his arm tighter.

*I saw the footage too but I don't remember that, and detective Eli is out of commission right now.* "I'm not going to repeat myself." Kyle's tone suddenly raised as if he suddenly switched personalities while his eyes flushed in a red light.

"That doesn't-" Just as those words left Christian's mouth, he let go of Kyle's arm.

"If you touch me like that again, I'll develop a pedestal." Kyle said as he stood up and brushed his arm off.

"What the hell." Christian said as he looked at his arm.

Kyle's eyes immediately turned brown although they seemed to be darker than before- more black than brown. *Like I said, I don't remember doing that. I probably went on some type of rampage when i turned.* Kyle said as he sat back down.

*….Where did you wake up?* Christian asked with a hint of suspicion in his voice.

"You still don't believe it," Kyle replied as he immediately noticed his tone and Mother's footsteps heading towards the living room.

*No I don't and I don't have a reason to believe otherwise, especially after what I saw on the news. I don't know why you insist on this bullshit excuse but now we have to clean your mess up-* Christian whispered in a pissed off tone before his phone started ringing.

"Kyle, your food is on the counter-" Mother said as she walked out of the kitchen and saw Kyle and Christian a seat away from each other. Although Christian was in a phone call, the tension between them was heavy enough to crush her feet. "What the hell is wrong with the two of you? Why are you sitting like that?" Mother said in a weirded out tone although she heard their conversation, she acted as she was oblivious to all they were saying.

Kyle got up from the chair while staring at Christian which allowed her to catch a glimpse of his eyes- they faded to brown from gorgeous red color that was dimmed ever so graciously. "After you eat we're going out." Mother felt relieved when she saw his eyes but quickly felt ashamed although her expression was unchanging.

"He was speaking nonsense." Kyle said as he walked past Mother and into the kitchen.

"Yeah I know. We'll talk about the rest, When me and 'Ancient' get there." Christian said as he hung up the phone.

Christian tried to get up but he suddenly felt- what he could instantly tell was Mother's hand from the gentle warmth that was like a signature to her touch which was always followed up with an absurd strength as his shoulder was quickly pushed back down to the couch.

"You still haven't told me where your going with Kyle." Mother said as she sat right beside him. "You better not be taking him to hang out with your grown ass friend- he's only 12." Mother said as a vague red glint appeared in her eye's.

"No, we are going to my job because he wants to know if he can get an internship there." Christian said as he looked all over the room trying to avoid eye contact.

"I hope you know what'll happen if I find out, he is outside with any of these hoodlums because of you." Mother said with a threatening tone as she continued to stare into Christian's eyes.

"I know but none of my friends are 'hoodlums'' so you don't have to worry about him like that." He said as he choked on his words a little bit.

"Really." Mother said as her tone changed completely. "So you know to protect yourself and Kyle right?" She asked.

"Of course. I'll protect him with my life for as long as I can." Christian said after he fixed his tone to show his sincerity.

"What about protecting yourself?" Mother asked.

"Of course, I'm always protected." Christian said in a subtle dismissive tone as he stood up. "But that's a completely different thing, and I'm gonna go get ready to leave before we're late." Christian said as he immediately sat up to avoid any more questions from Mother.

"…Alright." Mother said as she let him go and grabbed the tv remote.

As everyone in the house got ready to start their day, Detective Henry already started his as he was in the hospital sitting by Eli's side since the hospital allowed him visitors. Detective Henry sat watching by him just watching the news.

"This is the first time we even saw the victim since he was reported, where the hell do you think he's hiding it?" Detective Henry asked although he knew he wasn't going to get an answer. "I think he looks strangely familiar but I can't put my finger on it-" Detective Henry said before someone started knocking on the door.

"I'm coming in with some more visitors!" The nurse said as she opened the door and entered the room.

Following behind her were two men in white suits, one had a white trench coat on top of his suit while the other had a dark gray one. The man in the dark gray trench coat held a suitcase which was handcuffed to his wrist while the man in the black trench coat had a large white double bass case.

"Under the Humanity Protection Act branch of the CICA everyone besides the victim and the researchers are to leave the room immediately or will be forced." The man in a dark gray trench coat said as he pulled out his badge.
