*Be-* Just as the alarm clock went off, Kyle accidentally crushed his alarm as he slammed his hand on the off button.
"Damn it, I didn't even hit it that hard." Kyle said as he sat up and stared at the small desk near the head of his bed.
*Knock.* *Knock.* "Are you okay? I heard a loud noise! Did you fall? I'm coming in." A middle aged woman in a sweet and gentle tone as she opened the door. "Oh good morning sweetie. Are you okay?" She said as she saw pieces of his alarm clock on the floor.
"Good morning and yeah I'm fine but my clock fell." Kyle said as held his hand under his covers while also hiding throbbing pain coming from the sharp pieces of glass lodged in his palm.
*Sniff* "You smell that? It's odd. Smells similar to mother. Was someone else in here?" Her tone changed almost instantly as she looked all over the room.
"I used one of the liquid vapors from your room. Why do you ask mom?" Kyle said as the pain lessened.
"Didn't I tell you not to use them! The smell is abhorrent." His Mother said as she looked down the end of the hallway.
"Is he up?" Christian said as he walked out of his room and started walking towards Kyle's room.
"He is but you're not taking him anywhere until after he eats." His Mother said in a pissed tone as a small red glint in her eyes appeared.
"I know, you already said that." Christian said in an obedient tone as he walked past her.
"…..Where's Dad?" Kyle asked as he got out of bed.
"He got called in today." His mother said before she walked away.
After Kyle finally got out of bed, he noticed the pieces of plastic were no longer lodged in his hand but they fell on the bed and left his hand covered in dry blood.
"I need to hurry up and prepare for when I fully turn." Kyle thought as he walked out of his room and into the bathroom..
Once he closed the door, Mother started walking up the stairs and towards the bathroom and pressed her ear up against the door and started listening. Inside the bathroom Kyle was looking into the mirror. The screen popped up again, this time instead of floating in thin air, it looked like it was inside the mirror.
"Your skin has yet to transform, you are 90% close to completely turning. Consume 50,000 liters of human blood to completely turn." The old voice said as a counter appeared on the screen.
"Fifty-" Before he could finish his thought, the voice started again. "Your blood servant's capabilities are capped at 40% until you consume 50,000 liters of blood. You do not have a choice." The old voice said as it noticed his hesitation.
"Really? What would you do if I choose not to?." Kyle asked in a somewhat hostile tone.
"You have 2 hours to change your mind. If you decline, you will be forced to cooperate." The old voice said in a strict tone before it abruptly disappeared.
As the voice disappeared, a 2 hour countdown appeared in the corner of his vision. As he tried to look at the countdown it became blurry but once he looked away from it, it was as clear as if he was looking straight ahead although it remained in the corner of his vision.
"…." Kyle was speechless as the countdown suddenly started but he quickly ignored it as he thought "It's just some voice in my head." And started brushing his teeth.
Although as he started brushing his tongue, he started worrying about the countdown as it occurred to him that the voice was inside of his head and could block his vision whenever it wanted. "Son of a bitch." He said to the voice in frustration.
"Ha ha-" The old woman's voice started laughing and then abruptly cutoff as if it was laughing at what he said.
Kyle tried to clear his head as he wanted to ignore the old woman's voice and suddenly his mother started knocking.
Kyle tried to clear his head as he wanted to ignore the old woman's voice and suddenly his mother started knocking.
*Knock Knock* "Call your dad when you're done, he wanted to talk to you about something earlier." Mother said with an upset look on her face before she walked away.
As she got downstairs, Christian turned the tv on while the news anchor talked about the incident that occurred last night.
"Drey, a 35 year old Caribbean male who was thought to be a victim to the man from the first night- until a couple hours of being in a deep unconscious state with no hope of ever waking up, had suddenly awoken just a couple minutes after entering the hospital, took a nurse by the name of Melissa White as hostage before breaking the bones of a Detective then fled the scene with the nurse quickly after." The News Anchor said as Kyle started walking downstairs. "What they talking about." Kyle said, hoping it wasn't what his blood servants did.
"Damn- we missed today's forecast. Open the window, it's getting hot in here and it's about the man from the first night. " Christian said as raised the volume on the tv.
"The detective woke from the injuries a couple hours ago and revealed that Drey- the criminal who took the young nurse hostage is in league with the man from the first night. Although the detective is alive and conscious, he still needs some time to heal. So let us pray for the detective's speedy recovery." The News Anchor said as a picture of Detective Eli appeared on the screen.
"Well at least we know what Dad got called in for." Christian said as he looked straight at Kyle as if he was tryna tell him he messed up..
"No wonder he was so upset yesterday, he probably feel bad about his partner getting injured like that." Mother said with an indifferent tone as she noticed his Christian was looking at him and walked into the kitchen.
"Oh! We have more news about the man from the first night, it seems we have gotten footage of his appearance although it still leaves speculation as to what or who the man is." The News Anchor said before a video took over the screen.
Kyle saw his Mother immediately head back into the living room as she heard what the man on the TV said. This seemed strange to Kyle because he never saw his mom so interested in a case before, in his eyes his mother seemed to be almost as carefree as if she was invincible, she showed no care for specific politics although she stayed up to date with the world's drama. His mother never showed much interest in things they did unless it involved them getting hurt- in which she would immediately discourage them from doing so. Not to say his mother was a neglectful parent. Actually Kyle likes to think the opposite of her, in his eyes she was a loving and genuine person, who rarely tells lies. So when he saw her looking at the tv with so much intent, looking for the man from the first night, he felt chills in his spine "Is everything alright?" Kyle asked before gunshots were heard from the Tv.
The footage shown of the man from the first night from the news seems to be taken by a man- recording a man with the lower half of his face by an eloquent red cloak, that also covered his entire body besides the front which showed part of a beautifully black dress. He almost looked as if he was Royalty. The man from the first night stayed on top of the roof and started looking around as if he was looking for something. The man from the first night abruptly stopped moving.
He quietly stood there with the wind lifting his cloak, the cameraman's curiosity got the better of him, rather quickly and he moved as quietly and slowly as can but as he began to slowly open the door to get a better look at the man, fear suddenly struck his body which was apparent as the screen started shaking and his breathing became rugged and sloppy. Although he kept his breathing as low as he could, he didn't understand why he had so much fear just from getting an inch closer and this curiosity drove him to try to get even closer. He didn't know why he was intrigued.
The camera lowered quickly and one of his fingers in the lower corner showed that he was kneeling on the ground to easily hide in the darkness that laid behind the door.
The cameraman spoke as quietly as he could as he crept through the door, and let his curiosity get the better of him. "W-w-why is he j-" he choked on his words as the man looked straight at him with eyes that glow as if they were the opposite of the luminescence shining from the moon.
"Shi-" Before the words could leave his mouth the door suddenly flew open and the man stood in front of him.
"Name." The man said with a tone as sharp as a knife whilst he stared into the cameraman's eyes.
"T-Trevor." He answered with his tone becoming more controlled as if the fear was leaving his body.
