A black shiny automobile comes to a sudden stop in front of a massive skyscraper: GMD Pharmaceutical.
A small group of people stood waiting in front of the walkway leading to the entrance of the building, it was obvious that the car wasn't just any ordinary car.
The car door swings open and a black designer shoe, drops down and touches the ground even before the person fully steps out, a few bodyguards rush forward to block every part of the person's body from the curious gaze of the passerby.
Still, patches of a black designer suit could be seen, and black pants that screamed "Specially Tailored", as the person finally stepped out of the car.
Before he could take a breath, a bodyguard had pulled out an umbrella, opening it to shield his skin from the glare of the sun and another had already moved to help him close the door.
God forbid he move his billion-dollar hand to do such a mundane thing.
He began walking and already two steps ahead were even more bodyguards clearing his path, lest he come across something unpleasant to the eye that might ruin his morning.
Elevator A had been booked ten minutes ago, even before his arrival, since the idea of waiting for an elevator was unfathomable.
Let me remind you that this is the CEO of the biggest Pharmaceutical corporation in the entire continent of Europe.
To most people who laid eyes on him, he was like a God walking amongst mere men.
The lobby was completely silent and even after he entered the elevator it stayed that way until every sign of him was completely gone before the heavy whispering began.
"To think CEO Devin would actually take a car… Doesn't he always take his jet and land on the hover pad on the roof of the building?" The first receptionist whispered.
"Are you new here? Don't you know that every weekend he decides to grace us with a glimpse of his awesomeness when entering and leaving the headquarters?" The second whispered right back.
"I barely caught a glimpse of anything though. What I would give to get a look at that sinfully handsome face?"
"What wouldn't I give for him to take one glance in my direction?"
"Both of us might as well keep dreaming," The third finally spoke up, even though the dreamy look in her eyes could clearly still be seen even as she bent her head pretending to work on her computer.
Elevator A dinged, and out stepped the tall CEO with only two guards accompanying him on the topmost floor where only the most executive people in the company were allowed, including secretaries.
His hair bellowed slightly as he walked through a long corridor, past other offices, and made his way to his own office, which was at the extreme end of the huge floor.
This time around, the top bosses all got a good look at their boss, and each of them, both men and women couldn't help but sigh within themselves, as some went to the extent of blatantly staring as he passed.
A chiseled chin…perfect nose and ears and proud eyes that looked down on everything and everyone.
His hair was styled forward touching most of his forehead and teasing the edges of his brows.
The arrogance in his gait and shoulders couldn't be missed or faked as he walked forward with his left hand in the pocket of his pants at a pace that was neither too fast nor too slow.
His dark gaze was unyielding as almost no one dared to meet it without a genuine reason to.
He finally got to the front of his office, where his stoic gaze came to land on a particular person that stood at the entrance of his office.
"Gaen…" He said staring right into the face is the man who stood right in front of his door, right before his gaze on him slightly softened as he continued to speak.
"Haven't I given you permission to wait in my office?"
"There's no greater pleasure for me as a personal assistant than to welcome my boss. Moreover, I figured it might help me win a few bonus points in your books,"
"You know it won't…" He responded in a gruff manner signaling for the guards to wait outside right before he made his way in, with Gaen following closely behind him.
Regardless of his boss's behavior Gaen though doesn't miss the small smile at the edge of his lips when he responded as he intended to continue his bashful behavior.
It was 2045 and there was absolutely nowhere where he could get a higher-paying job than where he was.
"How is my schedule?" Devin asked as he made his way inside his office, almost completely ignoring Julia, his office assistant who instantly got up to greet him, to show respect.
"Good morning CEO Devin,"
Devin though simply nodded and passed right beside her and through the large area that was her office instantly making his way to his.
His office space was even bigger and about five times that of the space leading to it.
It was lavishly furnished and behind him were high windows that gave him a magnificent view of the city of New York where he was.
"Your schedule is pretty mild today," Gaen responded, flipping open a small electronic tab in his hand and turning the contents into a hologram before passing it over to Devin before he began reciting it to him from memory.
Right after plopping into his high seat in front of his huge table, Devin began to flip through the tab and listen to Gaen speak at the same time
"Eight o'clock- A cloud meeting with the CEOs of the other company divisions across Europe about the new drug bone-growing drug we just developed,"
"Ten O'clock- A meeting with the upcoming divisions we're still setting up in the Asia and Africa regions,"
"12 0'clock to One- Is a little break I placed there for you,"
"Why thank you Gaen…" Devin said, and Gaen could clearly hear the sarcastic tone his words came coated with especially since Devin usually always spent it working anyways.
"One 0'clock- The CEO of AQI asked for a meeting and I placed it there. Figured it would be good to hear what he has to say,"
"Sephra…?" Devin asked with a slight frown on the otherwise perfect features of his face which only served to make him look even more handsome than before.
Gaen simply nodded without responding since he was sure that Devin wasn't actually asking him, and was merely speaking out loud.
"I already know what he has to say though…," Devin continued to speak with a bored expression on his face that showed that the last thing he wanted was to meet him,"
"AQI might currently be in serious trouble but they're still pretty influential and just like you, he's the CEO," Gaen reminded him even though he was sure that he was most likely not paying attention and would simply do whatever he wanted to do.
"Schedule him for that time. I'm curious to know whether or not his pride has gone down a notch," Devin continued to speak with a smirk on the corner of his lips, one that Gaen understood to be Devin's signature for when he planned to cause trouble.
But even if he knew, it wasn't like he could do anything about it, moreover, the reason Devin liked him was mainly because he knew how to mind his business.
"What's next?" Devin asked in a largely bored tone even as he continued to listen to Gaen drone on about the other things on his to-do list for the day.
When Gaen was done, he left and Devin settled right into his seat waiting for the time his first meeting of the day would start, while thinking of Sephra, who he hadn't thought would fall into his trap.
Their new drug was an idea he had pretended to be working on, and he had even gone ahead to formulate real-fake laboratories for it, before stylishly waving it in Sephra's face almost like he was begging him to steal it, which he stupidly did.
"A drug that could take over a human body after death…How dumb are you Sephra?"
"I'm going to be the end of you Old man…and I'll watch as you fall and burn…," Devin whispered to himself with a proud look in his eyes.
"...then you'll call me Lord Devin or should I say The Devil," he chuckled slightly to himself swiveling his chair around and crossing his legs with authority as he looked down at the view of the city below wanting to be the only God in the Future of drug making…the one who stood above them all.
