"ARE YOU OKAY!"
"AH JIN" sound of strange voices echoed all around.
The first thing Devin felt the moment he became conscious was pain but a duller kind.
One that slowly thrummed through his body, and felt like it had been there long enough to have merged with it.
"Is he dead…"
Devin twitched slightly at the cold words he couldn't help but feel were directed at him even as he did his best to move off the cold floor he was sure he had been left lying on.
Ignoring all else, he opened his mouth and spoke.
"What kind of shitty hospital did these idiots leave me in…" he groaned in his heart right before he slowly struggled to pop his eyes wide open, blinking furiously as he struggled to adapt to the brightness of the afternoon sun on his face.
"So you're alive…" he heard the voice that had previously spoken speak again.
This time around he finally managed to fling his eyes wide open trying to confirm from the glimpse of the world around him he had previously seen the first time he popped his eyes open that he wasn't actually stuck in a dream.
In front of him was a plumped-up man wearing what seemed to be ancient robes, that looked like the ones he had caught his secretary watching in a historical Asian love movie, when she should have been working...
To top it off, their clothes matched the scene around him of the houses and even the carriage and horse that was right behind the man who stood in front of him.
"Is this someone's idea of a joke?" Wondering who would dare to do such a thing to him especially when he still had a mega company to run.
As difficult and painful as it felt to get up, he still did surprised to feel a certain throbbing and wetness behind his head as he did so.
He touched it and looked down at where he had been lying, shocked to see a consequential amount of blood, one that would have definitely caused his death or instantly sent him to a hospital considering it was a serious injury to his head.
"You seem to be more durable than you look…still, Is that why you suddenly ran in front of my carriage? I'll tell you now…I HAVE NO MONEY TO GIVE A BEGGAR LIKE YOU…" The plump man in front of Devin asked as he slowly raised his voice with a look of absolute arrogance on his face, one that Devin was completely familiar with.
He wasn't exactly sure of what was going on around him but one thing he was sure about was the fact that he wasn't someone that would simply stand around and allow himself to be bullied.
"What nonsense are you spitting out of that dirty mouth of yours?" Devin yelled at him, his voice at almost twice louder than the one the man in front of him had used.
For a second, he felt the tension around him instantly double and raise as it seemed like everyone had suddenly decided to collectively hold their breath, still, Devin continued without a care in the world.
"How stupid are you? How can anyone decide to suddenly jump in front of a carriage?" He asked in an extremely loud tone as the silent gasps around him became, even more, clearer than before.
"Ah, Jin… How dare you?" A deep manly voice suddenly asked from behind him, stepping forward to vigorously bow to the plump and richly dressed man in front of him who seemed like he was mere seconds away from exploding in anger.
"Please …Sir Wang," He pleaded.
"There's still blood on his head and it seems like the hit he felt might have affected the workings in his head…" saying the first excuse he could think of, while pulling Devin's still aching body closer to him in a body to protect him.
But it quickly became obvious that the rich man in front of him wasn't having it.
The rich man in front of him though, clearly wasn't having it. His cheeks were puffed up red and the frown on his face made the creases in his face even more visible than before, as he glared at Devin who expertly glared even harder, completely ignoring the person pleading beside him including his sharp whispers.
"Ah, Jin…beg this instant. Don't you know who he is?"
Of course, Devin couldn't help but continue to glare at the person in front of him who was the reason for his pain disregarding everything else.
"I don't care who he…" but he had only just begun to speak again when he watched two hefty men move forward from behind the fatty behind him.
"What the .."
"Beat him up…" Sir Wang, the rich plump man with clothes gave the order and instantly Devin felt a wave of panic hit him as he looked around to see that none of the people around him seemed intent on making any moves to protect him or intervene.
"What…"
"You can't do this…"
"You can't…" he cursed before the blows descended, with him doing his best to protect his head and other sensitive areas on his body.
