Chapter 5 - 3h 45mins

"This drug…" Vana spoke up with a hint of hesitation in his tone. He lived in the city and had heard enough about the drug to know that it was nothing but bad news.

"All you have to do is get it into his car….I'll give you as much money as you want," Sephra responded giving a blank check, knowing that Devin dying in such a gruesome manner was worth even half his net worth.

Fifteen minutes went by, which was more than enough time for Vana to call his man into the office to cart away Holi's sliced-up body in a suitcase and clean up all traces of what happened there.

Vana was still considering stepping out for a smoke while Sephra continued to sit on the couch with a largely excited expression on his face when they both suddenly heard a solid knock on the door.

Vana got up to open it, but the person behind it had already stepped in before he could make a move.

Covered in yellow lab clothes from head to toe, three people stepped in with the one in the middle carrying what seemed like a small suitcase in his hand.

Sephra jumped up the next instant moving towards them while still maintaining more than enough distance something Vana noticed and couldn't help but frown at seeing as how he was supposed to be the one to deliver it.

"How much longer would it be contained?" Sephra asked trying to hide the slight anxiety he felt even as he asked.

Out of the three people wearing protective lab clothes, the one in the middle carrying the suitcase trembled a little even as he went ahead to place the suitcase on the table in the middle of the room before instantly taking a couple of steps back.

Vana's frown got even deeper and fiercer than before.

You all are wearing protective suits what the hell are you running from?

"CEO Sephra. The containment should last for about four hours," The one in the middle said even as he went ahead to take a few more steps back, wanting to get close to where the other two that accompanied him stood beside the door but he couldn't since he needed to speak to the CEO.

As much as he would have liked to disobey the order he couldn't, especially when he had gone as far as to use to the emergency code.

"Might I ask what this prototype would be used for…" He bravely asked bowing a little to show respect, " I need to put it in the report when I get back…" he quickly added, since although the company was going under, until he did the person in front of him was the boss.

"Oh it's simple actually but you have to write it in the report and keep it a secret…" Sephra responded with an extremely friendly smile on his fave.

"I got in contact with CEO Devin of GMD Pharmaceuticals and he needed a prototype. Their company is willing to take a second look at it to see what we missed,"

A complicated look of delight and something else flashed on the lab technician's face even as he nodded and made to take his leave.

"Right now it's already 3 hours fifty minutes…" he hurriedly explained before he quickly moved towards the door, saying his goodbyes in the blink of an eye and leaving the office right behind the two others he came with.

"So I'm guessing I'm to carry that with my bare hands?" Vana asked with a huge frown on his face pointing at the suitcase on the table, one Sephra finally got the courage to walk to.

"We 3 hours 45 minutes before the protective cover springs open so you'll be fine…" Sephra responded snapping the suitcase open and going ahead to show Vana the smaller case inside, one that looked like it was meant to house a ring or a wristwatch.

"Thankfully Devin leaves his office around five, which should be more than enough time for him to be exposed to it,"

"...what if it's not and he leaves earlier or later?"

"Then you deal with it. There's a remote in the suitcase for changing the time left for the drug to be activated and spread," Sephra explained pointing at a small remote timer with 3h 43 minutes boldly written on it.

"But remember once you bring the time forward you can't shift it back, which means that you have to tile it exactly, just before he gets out of his building,"

"...how many people exactly can this thing affect and is it really that dangerous?" He asked mostly for his own safety more than anyone else, since he wanted to know just how much distance he needed to put between himself and the car.

"Mostly one person per drug but this is a stronger dose…so the driver is bound to be affected too. It really doesn't matter if they both die," Sephra quickly explained slamming the suitcase shut the next second.

"3h 39mins…you should get going," not once forgetting the timer on it even as he distanced himself away from the suitcase and went back to sitting on the couch, where he poured himself another drink, not at all caring whether or not he got the drug.

He was ruined and his company was beyond saving. If it were up to him, he would drown the entire world along with him if he could but he couldn't.

The only thing he could do was ensure that Devin didn't go unscathed.

Recalling the protective suits the three people that had brought the suitcase wore, Vana was tempted to also grab a pair of gloves first before grabbing it even at the risk of damaging his macho reputation, but he didn't.

With a sight expression of annoyance on his face, his heart racing a little more in his chest, he moved towards it and grabbed it, slightly shocked to see feel how light it actually was compared to what he expected.

"3h 34 mins…" he mumbled to himself knowing better than to forget even with the timer in his hands.
