"What time are you off work Nick?" Jerry, Nick's friend and coworker said as he was about to leave the building. "Same time as usual, wanna meet up at the bar?" Nick replied. "Sure," Jerry said back while fishing for his car keys in his pockets and leaving the workplace. Nick shortly went back to work.
The two friends and other scientists worked at a research facility run by the military, with the sole purpose for warfare advancements. They make upgrades to equipment, vehicles, and weapons. A new department opened up recently, its purpose was to try and discover if any form of electricity, air, and other elements could be turned into more lethal weapons that soldiers could use in the battlefield. Nick and Jerry worked in this department, though Jerry would go back to developing more guns and armor over at the previous department they worked at, while Nick stayed behind with a few other scientists.
After a few more hours of working, Nick packed his things and went to his car to drive to the bar that he and Jerry usually go to after work. When he got there, he saw Jerry wave him over at a booth across the room. He had already gotten a few drinks and some peanuts before Nick's arrival. As Nick was about to sit, Jerry asked, "how come you still work at that department?" "Because the things I've researched there fascinate me," Nick said as a waitress came over with some beers for Jerry and some rum for him. "We've started developing electrical grenades, rail guns, bullets with compressed poisoned gas, and many more weapons," Nick said before taking a sip of his rum. "I don't know man, I think you're better off helping me and the others with making guns and armored vehicles," Jerry said as he began gulping down some more beers. "Well, that won't be happening any time soon, I've started developing tech that'll increase the amount of static electricity in someone's body, it'll help with close-quarter combat," Nick said almost excitedly. "Of course it's still only a work in progress, but I am getting close to making a prototype," he admitted. "Huh, you'll have to show it to me sometime, sounds really intriguing," Jerry said after finishing his drinks. The two talked for a few more hours before going their own ways. "Catch you later," Nick said to Jerry as he entered his car and drove off.
When Nick arrived at his house, he immediately went to bed. After a few hours of deep sleep, Nick was suddenly woken up when air raid sirens went off outside. "What the hell?!" he said as he got out of bed to go outside to see what was going on. When he got outside, he was terrified at what he was seeing. Multiple flying objects in the air hovered over houses and other buildings with intimidating appearances. "Holy shit!" Nick said as he realized that his town was being invaded by aliens due to the advanced technology on the ships.
