Everyone was working their hardest, except Jerry and Kasey, because they were still injured. "So, you guys still have live stock?" Nick asked, while watering some tomato plants. "No, we learned that the aliens must have some kind of thermal detecting technology when we heard on the radio that all the densely populated areas had those ships above them," Donald replied. "So we decided to slaughtered all of the live stock and cured as much meat as we could," he said. "So, that must've been how they found the base we were at, there was a lot of people at that place," Nick said. "Thank you again Nick, I'm not sure if we could push forward without our boy," Donald said. "Well, he is my best friend, I wouldn't leave him behind back there," Nick said. The water in his watering can was emptied out on a tomato plant. "Where's the hose?" He asked, needing to refill his can. "By the house," Donald said, while pointing to the hose by the side of the house. Nick went back to the house to refill his watering can so he could continue watering the plants.
"How are you doing?" Kasey said, while walking towards Nick, who was filling his can. "Good, you?" He said, looking over his shoulder to make eye contact. "I'm getting used to doing this kind of work, but I'm getting the hang of it," she replied. "Yeah, I don't think it's that bad, considering we'll be eating from here," Nick said, as water began overflowing in his watering can. He gave the hose to Kasey, "so, what do you think we should do about the aliens?" Nick asked. "I don't know, maybe you should test that static weapon on them," Kasey replied. "What if it doesn't work?" He questioned. "Well, then I guess we're screwed, unless there's a backup plan you make on the spot," she said, smiling a little. "I'll come up with one, I kinda doubt that it'll work, but you never know," Nick said, walking back to the field to continue watering.
"So, you really just saved that woman? Did you even think of consequences that would bring?" Mary said, looking at Nick. "You and your son are too much alike," he said. "It's called being realistic," she said defensively. "Well, there's aliens flying around, taking over the world, I think you're being a bit picky," he replied. "Don't you know about the thermal technology those bastards have? They might find us if there's too many of us," Mary said. "I'm sure one more person won't hurt," Nick said. "Oh yeah? This one's hurt, pretty bad too," she said. "So is your son," he said. "Well, he's my son and she's just some stranger you found," Mary said, thinking she was about to win the argument. "She's pulling her weight, isn't she? And besides, she's already here, we can't just kick her out, it's immoral," Nick said, winning the argument, and walking away.
"What was that about?" Jerry asked Nick. "Your mom thinks we shouldn't have brought Kasey here," Nick said. "Well, it seems like you already have her to yourself dude," Jerry said. "Nah, that won't be happening anytime soon, with all these damn extraterrestrials around, and she's probably still thinking about those dudes who attacked her," Nick said. "I'm pretty sure she killed them all man," Jerry said. "We don't know that, and we already have enough on our hands," Nick said, and his watering can ran out of water once more.
