Chapter 8 - Static Shock Ch. 8

Lights turned on inside the house after Jerry knocked on the front door. Jerry's dad shortly opened the door, with a shotgun nearby for protection. "Jerry?" He said, surprised to see his son still alive. "Yeah dad, it's me," Jerry said, before the two hugged each other. "Oh thank god, I thought I'd never see you again," Donald said. "I know, I know," Jerry said, while patting his father on the back, comforting him. "Donald? Who's there?" Mary began to asked, as she came to the door. She gasped when she saw Jerry hugging Donald. "Oh my god! Jerry it's you, you're safe!" She cried in joy, and joined the two in their reunion hug. Nick and Kasey were standing by the porch patiently, waiting for the three to notice them. "Oh, yeah, I brought Nick and a injured woman with me, also, I'm injured too," Jerry said, as he realized that he and Kasey needed new bandages. "Oh, well then, come inside, Nick and... err, what's your name sweetheart?" Mary said. "It's Kasey," she said, before walking towards the door to enter the house. Nick and Jerry soon did the same.

"So, they just found you in the woods while they were driving?" Mary asked, while she was wrapping new bandages around Kasey's shoulder at the dinner table. "Yeah, that's what they told me at least," she replied. "Oh, they're good boys, they wouldn't lie to anyone," Mary said, as she was finishing up on wrapping the bandages on the wound. "If you say so," Kasey said. Donald came into the room with cans of food, "dinner's served," he said, as he sat down to eat the contents in his can. "What about the crops outside?" Jerry asked, puzzled by the lack of fresh food on the table. "We don't want to get the attention of those alien bastards, with all the loud machinery we use to water and harvest the crops," Donald said, continuing to eat. "We still have food, don't we?" Nick said, trying to reassure Jerry of the current situation. "Yeah, I guess your right," he said, before eating the food in the can that was in front of him. After a couple of hours of talking with each other, everyone, except Nick, went to sleep. Mary and Donald in their bed, Jerry in his old bed, and Kasey on a futon that was in the living room. Nick decided to finish his static electric weapon once and for all in the dinner table, he worked throughout the night, until he passed out from exhaustion.

In the morning, Nick woke up and saw Kasey looking at his creation. She noticed him, "what is this thing?" Kasey asked, pointing at it. "Something that better kill those damn aliens," he grumbled, as he sat up and rubbed his eyes. "Really?" She said, wondering if Nick said it as a joke or was telling the truth. "Yeah, it's a weapon, it can increase the amount of static electricity within someone's body, allowing them to send off static electric shocks more powerful and lethal. At least, that's what it's suppose to do, but I haven't tested it out again yet," he said, as he got up, stretched, and picked up the weapon to put it somewhere more safe. "What happened the first time you tested it out?" Kasey asked. "It worked perfectly, but I was told that it wasn't powerful enough to do anything to the alien's advanced technology," Nick said. Jerry came inside the house, covered in dirt and sweat, "guess someone's awake," he said, as he wiped his forehead. "Come help us water the crops outside," Jerry said, waving for Nick to come. "I thought your parents said they weren't doing that," he said, while coming towards the door. "Yeah, with the machines, but I convinced them to grow them manually," Jerry replied.

Outside, Mary and Donald were in the field, watering the crops. "Grab a watering can and help us," Jerry said, before walking towards the field to help water the crops with his parents. "Wanna come and join the fun?" Nick sarcastically said to Kasey. She smiled, "sure," she said, before joining the others.
