Chapter 1: The coming of Age

It was a quiet and peaceful spring morning. The roses had bloomed overnight and th morning air was currently filledThe roses had bloomed overnight and th morning air was currently filled with their fragrance. A certain blonde haired girl turned over on her bed, apparentlyapparently enjoying her sleep. Her contentment,  however soon proved to be short lived.

"Young Master, you can't

WHAM.

"Morning, sis" Her five year old brother said, Jumping on the bed. She turned round to face the smiling, bubbling, cheerful, green eyed kid. "Good morning, Morris" She said, ruffling his hair. An anxious lady came in. "My lady, don't be mad please, I really tried to stop him." "Never mind, Dorothy " She said, interrupting her. "He is my baby brother, after all. But Morris, before coming in next time make sure you knock, okay?" "Okay!" Said the enthusiastic five year old. "Come, young master. Let us give the lady sometime to freshen up." " Bye, sis." Morris said, holding Dorothy's hand. The eighteen year old yawned and stood up, allowing her beautiful blonde hair fall about her shoulders.  After spending quite sometime in the bathroom, she walked out just to bump into her older brother. He had the same blonde hair but had sky blue eyes, instead of Diane's bright blue ones. Diane drooled at the sight of her brother. Didn't he realise all the ladies that had their eyes on him? He could beat anyone in a beauty contest. Dennis smiled and ruffled her hair. "Hey, you haven't seen Sylvester anywhere, have you?" He asked.

Meanwhile on the terrace, a pair of blue eyes gazed far off into the distance. "Hey, Sylvester, Sylvester, hello..." A small fist waved impatiently into his line of sight. "Oh, Morris it is you." Sylvester said, breaking out of his reverie. "What are you doing?" The young child asked, sitting himself next to his older brother. Sylvester shrugged. "Nothing really." He replied. "Sylvester!" A booming voice came from the passage way. George Lewis was in no mood for games. Walking behind h seemed to be a younger version of himself. George's eyes darted sharply into the corner. "What is he doing here?" He asked with a growl, as Morris tried to shrink into the darkness. "Father, you might be scaring him a little." Dennis calmly said, as he looked at Morris who was shaking in fright. "He is still your son, afterall." He added. "No weakling is a son of mine." George said, scowling. "You." He said, turning to Sylvester "Come with me."

Diane looked through her window with a sigh. She saw the carraige as it moved out of the gates. Not long after, Morris burst into her room(again) and began to cry into her frock. "Oh my." Diane began. "Who broke our little Morris's heart?" She asked Patting his soft brown hair. "Sister." Morris sobbed, tears falling out of his baby like eyes. "Do you think I am a weakling?" He asked. Diane placed him on her lap, and cradled him tightly. "Who said that? My little Morris is very strong."

It was noon, and Morris was asleep in her lap. She patted his soft hair, humming a lullaby steadily in her breath, the one her mother had always sung for her. Her mother, who turned out to be late years back. Morris was the only sibling that looked like a male version of her mother, and that was probably why her father could not bare to look at him. Her mother had passed away years ago while giving birth to Morris. There were a few complications during pregnancy, which led to her death. Morris was lucky enough to survive with just a minor ailment, which will pass away as his immune system gets stronger. She had recently turned eighteen, and her father was sure to find a suitor for her soon. But she didn't want any of that. She wanted to get married to someone she actually loved. She had seen several instances what her mother went through in her loveless marraige. Those fake smiles, just creating a facade that she and her Father actually loved each other. Well, she tried. Unfortunately, during her third pregnancy, the poor soul had endured enough. To be frank, her father also had a hand at her death. Her hand maid, Dorothy, walked into the room. "Wow, my lady. I couldn't make him fall asleep that fast even if I tried." Dorothy commended her. "Give him, I will take him." She said, as she took the sleeping toddler from Diane's arms. "No, I should be thanking you Dorothy. You have been a good mother to him these past five years." She said, standing up and straightening her Frock. "My lady..." Dorothy began, moved by the comment. "And your daughter Alice makes an excellent playmate. She may be four years older, but she still keeps him busy." Diane said, as she tied her hair up to a ponytail. "Are you going somewhere my lady?" Dorothy asked, as Diane got out of her dress, and changed into a more comfortable attire. "I am going out for a ride. I need to clear my head." Diane said. "What if the lord comes back?" Dorothy asked anxiously. "I will be back before then" Diane said, as she walked out of the room.

Diane proceeded to where a brown colored barn stood, where all sort of neighing and snorting sounds could be heard. She walked in, patting some of the horses and caressing some. She soon stood in front of a magnificent black and white horse. "It's been a while hasn't it, sapphire." Diane said as she caressed the horse, but all she got was a snort of displeasure. She smiled and fumbled her trouser pockets, bringing out a sugar cube. "Here, a treaty of peace." She said, as Sapphire ate it, feeling contended. Without further ado, she led the horse our of the stables, and climbed onto it. "Ready?" She asked as the horse's mane floated in the wind. The horse walked around in a circle for some time, before charging into the great beyond.
