Diane tossed and turned in her bed for the past few days, waiting for Diego's reply. Her engagement with Cole was bound within a few days from now, while that of her brother was taking place a week after. It didn't make sense since Dennis was older than her, but her father just claimed that it was so that her brother could be mentally prepared, and not to cause another scene. "He's crazy!" Diane said as she clutched her pillow, thinking of strangling someone. Recalling the incident that occurred the other day, she was guaranteed that she was even more crazy than him. Did she just threaten the heir of a renowned family? She was out of her mind!
"Who is?" Dorothy said as she served Diane tea in her room. " My secret admirer. " Diane flatly replied. Dorothy nearly spilled the tea. "My lady, please don't talk like that, you will be engaged soon." Dorthy said, wondering where Diane's upbringing headed south. "Ha!" Diane scorned as she sipped the tea. " I won't get married to anyone but my lover. It's him and only him. " Dorothy was speechless. "Don't worry, when I leave I am taking you, Morris and and your daughter. I won't leave you all behind in this house . No way!" Diane declared adamantly. Dorothy however, was thinking. "I am dead if the lord finds out!"
As the days went by, Dennis began to give Diane the cold shoulder. Diane was greatly saddened by this, so she locked herself indoors most of the time and played with the children.
Soon, the day to be engaged with Cole kant arrived. As she went down the stairs, people were awed and stunned by her beauty. Dorothy however, was muttering under her breath: "Diego Raymond, you better hope that we don't meet again in this lifetime. Otherwise, I will Kill you!" Her father was laughing cheerfully with Cole's father, Sylvester remained indifferent, Morris was In the brink of tears, while Dennis pretended that she was invisible, while ignoring poor Beatrice, who was standing next to him. Dorothy led her to sit down with Cole, who was staring at her as if he would devour her right away. Diane sat next to him, trying to hide her feeling of disgust. "It is an honor to meet you my lady." Cole was the first to initiate a conversation, giving her a wet kiss on the back of her arms. "Mm, same here" Diane replied indifferently. She eventually beckoned for dorthy pulled her gloves off her arms, and said "Dorothy, take these gloves and burn them." Dorothy could only sigh inwardly. "Sis, you won't leave me would you?" Morris asked, stumbling into her arms. Diane held him and tried to pacify him. "Morris, don't make a scene." An icy voice said. It was Dennis. Diane was surprised to see dark circles under his eyes. "Hush." He said sternly when Morris was about to start bawling, and tugged him away from Diane's arms.
"Go and get the rings." Diane heard her father say. Diane clenched her teeth. She night as well higher an assassin to kill a certain 'someone' now. As the rings arrived In Front of her and Cole, she stood up abruptly. "What is the matter?" Cole asked also equally standing up. "Please forgive me, but I have to use the restroom." Diane said with her head lowered. "Diane, don't even try to make a scene. " George Lewis said sternly. "Father, I am not making a scene." Diane shot back. "You had all the time in the world to use a rest room, but you didn't. What else is it if not making a scene?" Dennis asked sarcastically. Diane was stunned silent. Was this still the same Dennis she knew? The old Dennis would help her out even if she was up to no good. No. This man was not her brother. "I..." Diane tried to speak, but as she did, the main door to the hall burst open.
