Chapter 5 - Chapter 5:A Very Unnerving Tale

Well," Dorothy began.

Dorothy was standing by the door, beside Dennis. "How could you let this happen dorothy?" George Lewis questioned. "Well, my lord, I.. I.." Dorothy stuttered. "Father, please." Dennis began. "Diane isn't a child anymore that Dorothy should monitor her every move. Besides, she wanted a breeze of fresh air, how on earth is that Dorothy's fault?" He inquired from his father while arching a brow. "I am just worried about your sister that's all." George said. "We are all equally worried about her, so you are not the only one sailing this boat." He cut his father off. Out of all of the sons of George Lewis, Dennis was the only one that could speak to his father this way without batting an eyelid.  Mostly because the more he spent time with his father with issues concerning the business, the more he saw his father for the crooked man he was. He began to slowly realise what his mother had to endure when they were still kids.

As the sun began to set, a black and white horse could be seen pausing at their gate. "Sapphire! That's sister's horse!" Morris yelled out, while Dorothy tried to restrain him. "I will go and check." Dennis instantly said, while the others trailed behind him.

"Halt! State your business here" an authoritative voice  commanded. "My business?" The blue-haired man began with a smirk. "Can you not see that I have the daughter of this family in my arms?" He asked with a smile, while raising his head and gesturing at the blonde haired lady who was sound asleep in his arms. "That.." the guard began but was cut off by another voice. "What is going on here?" Dennis began, until he saw the already familiar face and one resting in his arms. "Diane.." He muttered as his eyes softened. "What are you waiting for?! Open up the gates!" He commanded.

Moments later, the same blue haired man was sitting in the living room of the Lewis family while Dorothy and Morris stayed with Diane in her room. "So, that's what you said happened?" Sylvester asked a little skeptical. Diego sipped a little of his water before saying: "your father may have my head if I'm lying." He said with a smile. (Which was ironical, because he WAS lying). What he had told them was while he was out riding, he saw a little damsel( Diane) wandering around his neighborhood. He was intrigued, so he decided to approach her In order to initiate a conversation with her and clear some of his doubts. She was impenetrable at first, but soon began to feel at ease around him, to the point that she told him almost all her troubles. "She passed out from crying." He said as he dabbed his mouth "She has quite a weak body." He added, looking up at George and his sons. "How are we supposed to believe you?" Dennis asked, while arching a brow. "Well, if you still have any doubts, ask your daughter when she wakes up." He said standing up to leave. "I will see him off, father. " Dennis said, equally standing up. "Hmm" his father responded.

Whe they were walking out of the gates, Dennis suddenly tackled Diego and pinned him to the wall. "Oh my, such courtesy to display to a guest. As expected of the house of Lewis, I guess." He said with a smirk. Dennis, on the other hand, frowned. "It's not like you to let your guard down." He simply stated, releasing Diego "I am not in the mood for your childish games, Dennis." Diego  said dusting himself, but the smirk of earlier was still present. "I don't know what you are scheming, but if you ever tou.." "I have absolutely no interest in your sister, Lewis. " Diego  abruptly cut him off. "She needed help, so I rendered help. Besides, if I were you, I would be worried over more pressing issues. " Diego said, and then whistled. A magnificent horse got to him in a matter of seconds. "See you, lewis" Diego said as he got up the horse. "And take care!" He added as he rode off.

Diane's lower jaw was at the brink of touching the floor. "That bastard!" She said, clenching her fists. "You shouldn't use such foul language, lady." Dorothy, a little embarrassed at the young mistress's behavior. "Dorothy, how do you know about those parts when you were already with me in my room?" She suddenly inquired. "Tom was my eyes and ears" She said with a wry smile. "I saw him peeping at them through the thick bush. Even at his age he does not know how to stop eavesdropping."

Tom had been the family's gardener for years. He was reliable as he knew much about agriculture, and for that reason, George Lewis couldn't kick him out because it was rare to find someone as learned as him nowadays. In his early fifties and already a grandfather, he usually takes a break now and then from his family to relish the scenery and smell of the Lewis mansion.

"Fine, you may leave." Diane said, waving her fingers. "Oh, and tell sebastian to book me a meeting with 'that man' " She added with a smirk.
