Diane heaved a sigh as she stood at the door of her brothers room. She quietly knocked on it. "Go away." Her brother's stern but quiet voice drifted into her ears. "Dennis it's me." She stated, trying to sound as consoling as possible. There was a silence. She was about to turn around after a few more minutes of waiting but just then, the door opened. "Diane." She heard her brother mention her name. "Come in."
She walked into her brother's magnificent room. It had been quite some time that she had last been here, and she could see the changes her brother made. Her brother sighed as he sat on his bed while she sat right beside him. "I am sure you already know what happened." He began. "Yes, Sylvester informed me." She replied. "That brat." He added with a smirk. All of a sudden, Diane began to feel warm on the inside. She wished she could be like her brother, who could still force a smile even when the claws of despair were digging into his soul. At least, unlike her now unstable relationship with Sylvester, Dennis and he still shared quite a connection. "Brother, did you really have to do that?" She asked. "What kind of a question is that?" He said, turning to her, his eyes fierce. "Would you also have agreed to get married to someone you barely loved?" He asked, demanding an answer. Diane swallowed. " But it seemed that she loved you." He said silently, with her head lowered. When she raised her eyes, her brother was looking at her as if she were a stranger. "Pffft" Her eyes widened as Dennis inexplicably burst into a fit of laughter, which lasted for quite some time. "I am glad that you still retained the same sense of humor that we had since we were kids, dia." He said as his eyes turned colder and sharper. "So I should just get married to her just because she loves me even If I can't reciprocate that emotion? How highly selfish of you, Dia." He added. Well thinking about it, it did sound pretty self centered. "I am just saying that you should give her a chance. Who knows, you two might actually be destined." She added. "It seems like mother told you too many fairy tales when we were kids." He said as he stood up. "If you don't have anything reasonable to say, please leave." He added. Of course she wouldn't leave. Not without putting up a fight. "Thames." She began, but her brother didn't even turn around to face her. "I know that it may seem selfish but aren't you also being selfish too? Just think about Beatrice's feelings. How shattered she will be if the Same man she loves, rejects her." She added. "All I need you to do is just to give her a chance. If it is not conducive after three months, you two can split up for all I care." She said as she angrily turned around to leave. But as she placed her hand on the door handle she added one more thing while still facing the door. " And what about what YOU did? Imagine how she and her family felt. If it was me in Beatrice's shoes, I know that you will have killed him by now. It's the least you could do for her after humiliating her family, after all. Since she wants the marriage so badly, let her have it, even if it won't last" She said. "So you want that girl to live a life full of misery with me?!" Her brother asked as he turned around raising his voice. "All I said Is that you should give her a chance!" She said, equally raising her voice. "For once in your life Dennis, think about what others want, not what YOU want." She added as she opened the door and closed it with a bang, leaving her brother to the company of his thoughts.
As she laid on her bed, she couldn't help but recall the memories when they were still children. Even as children, they had barely ever fought. He never really listened to anyone as a child but he listened to her and their mother. This greatly infuriated their father to the point that he almost lost it. "Learn to make decisions for yourself, by yourself." Their father would always say. "Don't go running to accept the counsel of women." Now she could only help but chuckle. She and her brother really gave their dad a hard time as kids, and even so as adults. She sighed as she closed her eyes. She wondered if things would have been different if her mother was still alive.

It was morning. Dorothy had a smile on her face as she picked up the pillows which a certain blonde girl kicked away in her sleep. She was no longer lying upright but upside down the bed, with one leg headed north and the other south, while the blankets were crumpled and looked like they had been ambushed. "She still hasn't changed since she was a child, her sleeping habits that is." Dorothy muttered as she placed the pillows down carefully, and pulled aside the curtains. She could hear Diane groaning and turned around to see her shielding her eyes from the sun with her hands. "My lady, it's time to wake up." Dorothy said as Diane ducked underneath the covers again. "My lady,..." Dorothy began, and all of a sudden yanked the covers from Diane. Diane was so surprised by this action that she fell off the bed. "Ouch, Dorothy you meanie. You are supposed to be my personal maid not my personal bully." She said, looking up at Dorothy with a glare while nursing her rump. "Well my lady, you are the one that made me to resort to strict measures." She stated. Diane was still looking at her with a menacing glare when a sudden thought flashed Into her head. "Dorothy, how did I get home yesterday?"
