Chapter 4 - A Prince?

"How was it?" Tyler immediately asked his son.

"I don't know. I need more time," Wade said.

"Fine. Take this," he gave his son a book.

The cover of the book was clearly written {LYNX}. It was a huge book. "There's these much dad?"

"Yes and you must read it all."

Tyler left after a while and Wade took the chance to read the book. He was a fast reader and by staying up the whole night he had managed to read every key information.

Lynxes were complex creatures with both luck and no luck. Their wolves were huge and had a unique symbol on their forehead. That's why they were easily notable.

Their pheromones smelled like omegas' but they underwent rut. During rut they were uncontrollable and worse than alphas. It would take a lot of effort to control themselves.

Their weakness was mates. Yes,mates. Lynxes were possessive and protective of their mates. If their mates died, they would not only suffer heartbreak but they would also lose a lot of strength.

Lynxes could mate with any other gender. A wolf mated to a lynx could also suffer since they had to do everything they were told to do by their lynxes.

"So this is why dad wants me to make him fall for me..." Wade whispered.

What was more, he could not allow himself to get mated with him. Both of them would be at a disadvantage due to the fact that he had bad intentions.

The reason lynxes could control their mates was because they were their weaknesses. It was better to control them when they got out of hand to maintain their strength.

Wade sighed and stretched. It was tiring to read all night.

He decided to return the car. Maybe he would get some clues from Jasmine considering he couldn't see Rylan.

...

Jasmine couldn't sleep all night. Not only was her worry too much but the noises her nephew made were also deafening.

It was a good thing that it quietened down in the morning. It would be for a short while though hence she took the chance to rest a bit.

However, just as she closed her eyes, the doorbell rang.

She sighed.

Slowly, she went to open the door. Whoever it was she was never going to forgive him!

"Yes?" Her voice was rather rude. It wasn't her fault, her ears were still crying from hearing the noises all night.

"Ooh,I.... Um... I'm sorry if I woke you up. I came to return your car," Wade nervously spoke when he saw that Jasmine was not in a good mood. If he offended her then there was no way he would get close to Rylan.

"My car?" She examined the face in front of her and sure enough she didn't know him. "Why do you have my car?"

"I was the one who brought Rylan home yesterday. He was in heat and I had no other choice. I didn't do anything to him though."

"And you took his car because...?"

Wade laughed nervously, maybe it wasn't a good idea to leave with the car, "My home is quite far and it was dark."

"You're not an alpha?"

"I am..."

"Then what can happen to you?"

"Well you see, I am... a prince... so people can try to harm me."

"You're a prince?" Jasmine didn't hide her disapproval, "There's only one alpha prince in Ethereal Pack, so you're Wade Kastiel?"

"Yes."

"Thank you for bringing my nephew home, I believe you taking his car can be counted as repaying the favor. You can leave now."

Wade opened his mouth to say something but didn't know what. He was sure Jasmine was telling him to go away and never come back and that was something he could not do.

However, seeing the woman's stoic face that was the colder than his father's, he decided to leave. He would wait for Rylan to come out, he couldn't handle the aunt.

When Jasmine saw that he had left, she sighed. She didn't know why his nephew was suddenly spotted by those monsters.

She was not as innocent as her nephew, she knew these packs wanted him for power.

They underestimated the Alpha. Should they run away? But since the Alpha didn't make a move, didn't it mean he wasn't sure? Besides, if they ran away, their secret would be known.

With a frown and a sigh, she turned to enter her house. She had to be more careful.

She was no longer sleepy and she went to Rylan's room. The wolf was asleep. She pushed a button under the bed and the room was closed by the wall.

This was what Rylan always told her to do as the room was sound proof but she stubbornly refuted because she wanted to hear him. She wanted to feel his pain I'm any way she could.

Too bad it was now dangerous. Who knows if there were people outside wait to hear a growl then barge inside?

On the other side, Wade got home and decided to sleep. Rylan would probably be stuck inside for another two days so he was free until then.

Just as he jumped onto his bed and closed his eyes, his room was loudly pushed open.

"Wade!" Came the high pitched shout.

"Argh," Wade frustratingly covered his head with a pillow. Was this karma?

"Wake up you butthead!"

His pillow was snatched and he slowly opened his eyes. There it was, his brother's annoying face.

When he once wished to wake up and see a beauty, this is not what he meant!

"What now?" He asked annoyed.

"Look!" Julian shoved his phone in his face.

He looked at the phone and when he didn't see anything wrong he raised his brows and asked, "What about it?"

Julian angrily pointed at the upper left part and when he looked carefully, he saw a tiny crack. It was barely noticeable and he wondered if a human being would be able to see it.

"It's cracked?" Still, it had nothing to do with him, right?

"Exactly!" Julian's eyes narrowed, "I left it on the living room table for one minute to get something and when I came back it was on the floor like this!"

"Okay?"

"And when I asked the guards there do you know what they said?" Julian paused, "They said you dropped it when you passed! You! How dare you!?"

Wade held his forehead as he wondered how he missed the sound. Maybe it was due to the many thoughts he had.

"Julian, the crack is so small, I don't even know how you noticed it," he tried to get out of this trouble.

"Small? Small?!" Julian carefully put the phone down and Wade realized something was wrong. Purely out of instinct, he got off the bed. It was good too because Julian had jumped onto it.

The latter looked at his older brother and with gritted teeth, ran towards him. Wade could only ran away as fast as he could.
