Chapter 6 - He's Turning

"Sir..."

"Shhhhh! Keep it down!" Rylan spoke in a low voice. The person seated opposite him gave him a questioning gaze. "Someone is following me and he can't know you are my employee. He's seated next to us. Act naturally." They were at a restaurant.

"Ooh," the assistant used every power he had to not look at the next table. Who was it that could make his boss this worried?

At this point one has to know that within the humans, Rylan was your typical cold CEO who no one should mess with. His identity there and with the werewolves were completely different. However, he wasn't worried someone would notice since not many humans had seen him.

"I don't think we can talk about business today. I'll have to ask you to take care of my company alone for a while, Elliot."

"Aren't you ever scared that I'll steal everything?"

"I trust you. If you ever steal anything one day, then it's okay. I'll just move on or start another company," Rylan spoke as if it were the most natural thing.

It left Elliot wondering if he was normal. Seriously, who says that? He didn't even threaten him!

But even though there were no threats, Elliot was sure he would never get away with it if he ever stole anything.

Besides, he was paid quite a lot and he and Rylan were close friends.

"Okay, I'll take care of everything for you."

"Thanks," Rylan glanced at Wade who gave him a wide smile. He sighed and wondered if this person would really follow him around the whole day.

What he didn't know was that Wade was willing to follow him every day until he accepted him.

It was the only method his mind could come up with. Rylan was not a normal wolf who could be moved easily so he just had to make himself accepted as a friend first.

Rylan and Elliot stayed for a while longer before they left separately. Wade still followed.

Rylan drove to his favorite bar, the place he first met Wade. He sat at his favorite corner and waited for Wade to join him. He did.

"You like this bar?" Wade asked.

"I like it better when I'm alone," Rylan smiled, "Tell me, what do you want from me?"

"I told you, I want a friend."

"There are many people out there, what's so special about me?"

"You have quite the reputation for being the most innocent one."

Rylan sighed, "Fine, we can be friends as long as you stop following me."

Wade raised a brow, that easy? "Great! So can we exchange phone numbers now?"

Rylan agreed since he really did not want to be followed. He especially did not want the alpha's son to know too much about him.

"Now will you stop following me?"

"Yes! Why should I follow you now when I can just ask to join you? We're now friends, aren't we?"

Wade raised his glass and so did Rylan with a roll of his eyes.

That day, Wade went home with a smile. When Tyler saw him, he was sure the mission was a success.

Why else would his son come home smiling like a fool?

"It's him, right?" Tyler asked with cold eyes. He was waiting for the confirmation so that he could send wolves to capture him.

"What? No... I mean... I don't know yet," Wade quickly stopped his father.

"Then why are you smiling like that?" Tyler looked at him weirdly, "Don't tell me you're actually falling for that lynx."

"Dad, I've known him for five days and out of these I've seen him in two days only. How is it possible for me to fall for him?"

"Good," Tyler spoke but didn't stop judging him with his eyes, "I hope the mission is still going on. Don't waste too much time on him."

"I won't dad."

Tyler left him to do his other duties. Wade released the breath he was holding.

It's not that he fell for Rylan, after all it was such a short period. It's just that he didn't think he was a lynx at all.

How could such a person be harmful? He didn't even look like he was strong.

Forget it, he just had to prove that he was just the innocent omega everyone knew. How hard could it be?

With these thoughts, he felt that he could sleep well at night.

...

The next day, much to Rylan's delight, Wade was nowhere in sight. Feeling safe, he headed to his company.

Employees in AxisTech knew they had a CEO but they had never seen him. It was said that he used a private elevator that was out of view.

This was true.

Rylan used his private elevator to get to his office. There, he met Elliot who was quite surprised to see him.

"The person stopped following you?"

"Yeah."

"How?"

"You can say we reached an agreement. Let's not talk about him. Fill me in on everything please."

"Okay sir," Elliot went back to being a formal assistant. He professionally started explaining everything and Rylan listened attentively.

That was until he smelt something. He couldn't be wrong, pheromones.

However, these were no regular pheromones. These were pheromones of a turning human.

Years ago, humans strated to turn, that is, they became alpha, beta or omega. The only difference between them and the werewolves was that they had no wolves.

They were just humans with a new gender to make them more powerful or weaker.

When they were just turning, one can't tell what gender they are. The pheromones couldn't be distinguished.

With this thought, Rylan carefully looked at Elliot. This man was not particularly strong and wasn't tough. He was always nice and sweet and fought against men who used unjustly methods.

This kind of person...could only be an omega. No, if that were to happen, wouldn't his life be in danger?

Rylan felt like burying his head in the wild as he thought of this. How? How could he help this person?

He couldn't possibly explain everything, he would be taken to an asylum!

All he could do was wait for him to figure it out on his own. The best he could do was giving him a guide in the name of fantasy novels and movies.

"Elliot?"

"Sir?"

"Do you like reading?"

"Reading?"

"Yes, reading. I have a book that I would like you to read."

"Okay?"

"Great, I'll bring it tomorrow."

Elliot didn't understand why Rylan would ask him to read a book. It was quite random.

However, Rylan didn't bother explaining. Why would he explain something he didn't how to explain?

He just finished his business and left as always. No one knew that their CEO had come and left.

Right as he left the building, Rylan got a call. Who else could it be apart from his newly made enem...friend?
