Rylan managed to avoid Wade for the next two days as instructed by his aunt. These two days were particularly boring and he convinced himself it was because his assistant was avoiding him and for some reason even his best friend.
On the third day, he gave up and decided to call Wade. "I'll just pretend I called by mistake." However, his call was surprisingly not picked up.
It seemed the alpha had finally gotten bored. With this thought, he decided to surprise Elliot. That man had given his ear trauma.
"R... Rylan...I mean sir..." Elliot forced a smile when he saw Rylan's angry face.
"You've been avoiding my calls," Rylan walked to his seat in the office.
"Of course not sir, I didn't see your calls."
"Stop calling me sir like that, it's cringe," Rylan shook his head and looked up, "I'll pretend I'm not angry. So, tell me, why did you shout my name like that?"
"It's not my fault, it's your best friend."
"My best friend? Jaden?"
"Yes! He came here and and inappropriately touched me! I can't believe you're friends with him!"
"He did?" Rylan knew what kind of person his best friend was but he never thought he would do something in his company.
"I'm not lying, if I didn't kick him maybe I wouldn't be standing here with you. I would have been in the hospital!"
"I see," Rylan decided he would speak to Jaden.
"You see? What do you mean you see?" Elliot felt that he was not being understood. Was his boss also like that?
"Elliot."
"Yes?"
"Sit," he offered and Elliot sat opposite him, "Jaden is... not a good person. But, the truth is, he has never done anything to anyone. He just makes people afraid of him, or else he wouldn't have left you intact after hitting him."
"But that doesn't make him better," Elliot argued.
"Yeah, it doesn't and that's why I'm not asking you to forgive him. I'm just telling you I can't stop being his friend. He had a bad childhood which made him like this and I'm his only friend. If I leave, he'll lose someone really important and I believe even bad guys deserve something important."
"Wow, I never thought you're so..." Elliot paused, not knowing which word to use.
"I'm not, it's just that we grew up together and I witnessed how he grew up."
"Okay then, I understand now. But you should at least advise him to be better."
"I've tried but it's not easy. His father basically raised him teaching him that men are supposed to be at the top."
"I pity him,but I don't think he'll end up well."
"Let's forget about it," Rylan could smell the stronger pheromones coming from Elliot, "Did you read the book I gave you?"
"Oh yeah, why did you give me such a book? I mean, I read it and it was interesting but why would you give it to me?"
"You'll find out soon, don't worry."
Elliot didn't ask further, knowing his friend would just be more mysterious.
Rylan was worried. Elliot would become an easy target since he didn't have any protection. Plus, he had never seen Elliot working out.
No, he had to make sure when Elliot became an omega, he would protect him.

Wade sipped his juice and sighed, "I mean, if I loved him, wouldn't I be feeling bad right now? But I'm fine, I don't mind us not talking for days."
The person opposite him also sipped his juice but he didn't speak. An hour before, he had arrived at a restaurant as Wade had called him. For the last hour, Wade had been speaking nonstop about Rylan.
"Tell me Rael, do I sound like I'm in love?" Wade looked at him, waiting for an answer. Rael opened his mouth to answer but was interrupted for the umpteenth time, "I even ignored his call! Why would I ignore his call if I'm in love? Julian was just speaking nonsense!"
"Wade..."
"I mean..."
"Wade..."
"I even..."
"Wade!!!"
"Huh?"
"Listen to me," Rael took in a deep breath, "I know I'm your best friend but, you've been talking alone for the past hour about him. I'm tired."
"Ooh..." Wade realized what he had done and embarrassment came at full force, "I'm sorry."
"It's okay," Rael stretched, "I think you are in love."
"What?" Wade was confused. He had been speaking badly about Rylan, how is it that he's in love?
Rael saw his confused look and silently agreed with Julian, their future alpha was not bright.
"You have low EQ for someone I had low expectations for."
"I don't have low EQ!" Wade narrowed his eyes, "and I'm not in love with anyone. I'll prove it to you!"
"How?"
"I'll go get evidence that he's a lynx and I'll show it to dad!"
"Sure, go ahead. It would actually bring a lot of fame for our pack."
Wade sighed, feeling defeated and confused. Was he really in love? But he hardly knew the person.
Maybe he was interested but love? It just didn't make sense. Now he didn't want to continue with his mission.
He was scared Rylan was really a lynx. The night before, he had a dream that Rylan turned into a huge ugly beast and came to kill him.
In the dream, he had begged Rylan to spare him and turn back to the good person he knew. However, Rylan didn't listen and opened his mouth revealing his huge sharp fangs.
Before his skin could be touched by those huge fangs, he woke up. However, it was only scarier since he didn't know if the dream was a sign that something like that would happen.
"Rael, what should I do?"
"Show him your love?" Rael answered as if it was the easiest question in the world.
"But what if he's a lynx?"
"So what? He has never done anything wrong before, why do y'all think he's dangerous?"
"That's not even the point. If he's a lynx, dad will never agree."
"That's true, but we've read them any books about forbidden love and it always works. Don't give up."
Wade gave him the worst look he could master and held his head deep I'm thought. He had to do something.
Somewhere in his heart, he hoped Rylan was an omega, it would make everything so much better and easier.
"I'm going to see him," Wade claimed and stood to leave.
