Chapter 7 - Love at First Sight

"How are you my friend?" Wade's voice was heard immediately after Rylan picked up the phone.

"What do you want?" He asked instead of responding.

"You know, for someone everyone says is innocent, you sure do speak coldly to me. Can't a friend call to say hi?"

"For someone who forced me to be his friend you sure do expect a lot from me. Now, what do you want?"

"I just wanted to hear your voice."

"Heh. You heard it, shall I hang up now?"

"Actually, it's sweet to hear it over the phone but I must say, it sounds better in person. How about we meet up?"

"I'm busy."

"Okay. Then when will you be free?"

"I don't know. Maybe tomorrow, or the day after or even next week. It might even be next year."

On the other side of the phone, Wade's lips formed a smile, "I see. Then I'll just have to follow you around again."

Rylan also smiled, "You're threatening me."

"Of course not. Why would I threaten my friend? I'm just saying if you're too busy I'll just follow you. That way, I won't ruin your busy schedule."

"7 pm, True bar."

"Pardon? What did you say?" Wade teased but the other person had already hang up. He didn't mind though, he had gotten what he wanted.

At 7 pm, Wade was already seated in True bar, holding a drink. With how comfortable he was, Rylan wondered for how long he had waited. Didn't he say 7?

Well it was not his fault so he wouldn't care about it.

"My friend!" Wade greeted loudly as soon as he saw Rylan. His voice was so loud that Rylan thought he was scared his friendship title would be stripped off. It was as if he wanted to announce it to the world.

How weird. Was being his friend this wonderful? His eyes darkened. Sure enough, this person could not be trusted.

Wade, on the other hand, had no idea what was going on in his friend's mind. He pointed to the seat next to him but Rylan sat opposite him instead. He didn't feel upset, instead, he smiled.

This was something that Rylan found disturbing. Wade was a smiling machine. No matter what he always smiled. People like this were dangerous. He knew this because beyond his innocent guise, was another smiling machine worse than Wade.

"Did you call me to look at me and smile?" Rylan asked as he pushed his thoughts back. No matter how much he suspected this person, he really hadn't done anything to him.

So far, he only wanted to be a friend.

"Well, what do you expect with that pretty face?"

Oh yeah, there was flirting too.

"I always wonder," Rylan lowered his eyes to hide his cold orbs that held no innocence, "Does the prince lack friends?"

"Ooh?" Wade's smile widened, "I'm glad you think about me."

Only Rylan knew how much strength he had to use to not glare at the shameless alpha, "Well? Do you really lack friends?"

"Not really. I just find them boring compared to you," the said prince answered without worrying about his only real friend who would probably faint if he heard him.

"I see. I also have friends and to be honest my prince, they are much more interesting," Rylan spoke while still holding the innocence in his eyes causing Wade's smile to falter.

Didn't that mean he was boring compared to them? So Rylan just used his words against him but in a more polite manner?

"We should stop talking about others. I prefer to think about you when we're together," Wade wisely changed the subject, or so he thought.

"But I don't. You're not being fair my prince, you find me interesting so of course you would prefer thinking about me but I... I find my other friends interesting."

Wade almost choked on nothing. What innocence? What cuteness? What respect? All that was his eyes! At this point he wondered if Rylan would still hold his reputation if he lacked his eyes.

'Hmph! Maybe he is a lynx!'

Still, Prince Wade swallowed his grievances and forced a smile, "Well it's too bad that I'm the only one here."

"Indeed."

An awkward silence fell. Now they realized that there was music in the background.

Wade was thinking that he might be wrong. What if Rylan was a lynx? However, he still leaned more on omega since it was much more believable. After all, omegas were not identified by innocence and it could be proven by his own brother.

Rylan was also thinking about Wade. This alpha prince had been really been determined to make him his friend. It was suspicious as much as it was not. Suspicious because he didn't believe he was interesting to the point of attracting the prince. Not suspicious because he was getting too close as of he wasn't scared. Now the question was, what should he do?

Rylan cleared his throat as he decided to break the silence, "Be honest, why are you suddenly interested in me?" When Wade heard this he opened his mouth with a smile ready to speak but he was interrupted, "Don't give me your nonsense. I want the truth."

"I don't know," Wade answered.

"Huh?"

"I don't know."

"What do you mean you don't know?"

"I just had the urge to followed you around and make you my friend and maybe even more."

"More?" Rylan frowned. Was it really 'love at first sight'? It made Rylan even more confused.

"Yes more. But you don't have to think about more right now. For now we're friends."

"But why?"

"Huh? You want more right now?"

"What? No! I meant, why would you want more with me?" He had done his best to make himself unattractive to other alphas. He was quiet and minded his own business. Whenever an alpha approached him, he would walk away and sometimes even run away.

What was this now? An alpha said he wanted to get close to him?

"Haven't you ever heard of love at first sight?" Wade asked as he sipped his drink.

"I don't believe in such stuff."

"Well, believe it today."

"How can you love someone you just met?"

"It's possible. But I also said we're friends for now because of that."

"I'm not interested."

"Okay. But we're friends, right?"

Rylan didn't answer and another wave of silence came.
