Levina broke into tears when she saw Lucien running towards the cell. Finally, she would be leaving this dump, she thought. She had only been there for a few hours, but it felt like years to her. She stood up from the corner where she sat and raced to the door.
On seeing Lucien, the guard standing at the door opened it, and when Levina tried to step back, the guard pushed her and staggered backward.
"If you touch her again, I will saw off your hands!" Lucien snapped in rage.
"I am sorry, my lord," the elderly man apologized, bowing his head repeatedly. Lucien ignored him and hurried into the cell. Levina fell into his open arms and wept.
"It's alright. I am here now," he said softly, rubbing her back gently.
"I didn't do anything wrong. I told you the truth, Prince Zarek tried to harass me," she cried.
