Levina was about to say something, but Lucien signaled her to stop by touching her arm. However, she ignored the plea in his eyes and continued speaking. If she was going to die, she might as well speak her truth.
"I don't expect you to remember what happened last night because you were drunk! You passed out on the ground before you could get a chance to hurt me."
"I woke up on my mat!"
"Do you remember how you got there?" she fired back at him.
Zarek huffed in anger but did not respond.
Lucien sighed. He loved how fierce Levina was; it was one of her many endearing qualities. She was bold, unafraid, and certainly not weak, nothing like any of the girls he had met. But in that moment, he wished she would take a step back. Getting Zarek riled up would only make things worse.
"Zarek, you probably don't remember any of the things that happened last night. But you can stop all this, just let Lev go," Lucien said quietly.
