"What do we consider as life? We live it but we know so little about it. Is it an order from the divine or something that's invisible yet a part of us? A part has to be visible in some way right? Or maybe not. Who knows? Can a person keep pondering even after death? Even though we are not sure about that we can ponder in our sleep. Wait...why the hell am I thinking all these? Maybe I should try opening my eyes a bit."
"Wh-What's going on...What is this place...and what am I? How did I even know that it's called a place? I don't remember anything...There're so many sounds of different things. What is that light...why can't I get up?"
The being in the lab was brainstorming with questions while staring at the celling. They had no other choice than that because their body was covered up in a wrapping made of many fine materials. At least it was looking fine except the left leg which was looking incomplete. The being soon heard some people's voices and then was put to sleep again.
Later on, there was a voice calling them. "Oh dear, you are finally awake. My dear girl is finally awake!" It was confirmed at the moment that the being was a girl. Before that she was confused even about that. With a confused face she asked, "Who are you?"
"I'm your mother. Don't you remember anything?" said a woman sitting on a chair.
"No, I don't. Damn it hurts...ugh!
"Where does it hurt? Fedyenka, calm down let me help."
"Fed- what? Is that my name? By the way my left leg hurts a bit."
The woman told her to stay there and went to get something while Fedyenka was pondering about the things she knows and how she knew. Soon after, the woman came and with a warm smile she hugged her and said "Does it still hurt?"
"Of course it does. Why would it magically stop hurting anyway?" said Fedyenka with a calm voice.
"You are right." said the woman while cutting a small part of the leg. The girl was startled and kept telling her to stop. There was some clotted blood getting bled from that part. It seemed rotten. "Only if Kristen didn't make that mistake." said the woman.
Fedyenka asked her mother about the mistake. Her mother just ignored the question saying, "It's the best to keep some things secret. So that I can tell you more about it when the time comes." Fedyenka's mind was filled with more and more questions the moment she heard that.
Her mother then told her that she should call her 'Mom'. Or else she will get mad at her. "Okay mom." said Fedyenka. "Good. Now lay down on the bed like a good girl and I'll call your dad and tell him the good news." The woman then left the room.
The girl was feeling a bit of delight in her heart while thinking how warm her mother's smile was and what kind of person her dad would be. As her mother told her, she laid herself down. Hours passed...yet there was no sign of anyone coming.
Suddenly a voice approached her, "So you are awake."
"Dude, at least make some sound before approaching someone. Who are you? said Fedyenka.
The man told her that he's an assistant of her mother and has known Fedyenka since she was little. "Don't you remember anything about me, Fed? asked the man.
"It feels like it's a weird nickname. Why don't you call me something else?"
Right after Fedyenka finished her sentence, her mother came with a man wearing the same medical apron as her. The man rushed to her and started weeping. "All my years of work finally paid off. I got my daughter back. All thanks to this place. No, I should thank God for this." said the man with an overwhelmed tone of voice. Fedyenka then got a hug from both her mother and her father while the feeling of doubt was slowly fading away.
"Oh! Where are my senses! I forgot to introduce you to Mr. Lewis. He's like a big brother to you." said Fedyenka's mother.
"Yeah, we've already met." Fedyenka showed no interest toward him.
"By the way, what's your name mom?"
"My name's...Maria. If someone asks you about your mother's name just tell them that her name's Maria. If you tell them our full name you're gonna be in a crowd of people."
"Wow mom, are you famous? What about dad?
"Your dad and I are well-known scientists. I almost forgot to tell you your dad's name. It's Oleg."
"I see...what's our last name again?"
Oleg interrupted while Maria was going to speak and said, "Come on Darling, you aren't letting me speak. Anyway, it's Baladin. I know that you are stormed with questions right now but we need to go for a bit now. We'll announce a holiday for two days later."
"We can't. We haven't successfully recovered her left leg yet." said Maria with a worried face.
"Why didn't you tell me earlier? I've already told some of my subordinates that-"
"Enough honey, You always make decisions before asking anyone and I'm used to this. I'll deal with it later. For now, let's get back to work. Yuri, you take care of her"
Maria and Oleg left in a hurry after kissing on Fedyenka's forehead. She has just woke up and yet she was showered with love. At least that is what she was thinking.
"So, you're Yuri. Mind telling me a bit about yourself? I'm curious."
"Before that you need something to eat or else you'll pass out. You haven't eaten anything in the past twenty four hours. I'll go make you something. Don't move an inch from the bed"
He also left the room...leaving her all alone. After a while she felt asleep and later on someone woke her up with a plate of beans and a boiled egg. After she ate her fill, she was about to drink some water from Yuri's hands and suddenly she felt an immense pain all over her head. She couldn't bear it. She screamed. She could hear no other sound but her own voice. As if it was death itself giving her this pain.
Suddenly she found herself laying on a luxurious bed wearing a beautiful dress with her hair so silky and soft that even she could feel it. Her memories begun to fade as new ones starts taking place.
