Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Secrets of the Relic

After Fedyenka started following the man, she felt a little hunch. The hunch slowed down her a little.

"What's wrong, Your Highness? Being tired already? Or something has slowed you down." said Sabio Tenth with a poker face.

"Your second guess is the right one." said Fedyenka coldly.

Suddenly, Sabio Tenth stopped and said, "This is the place."

Since Princess Fedyenka was a vampire, she could clearly see that there was a door in front of her in the dark. It took Sabio Tenth a while to figure out where the lock was. It gave Fedyenka a thought that maybe he isn't so used to that place. He opened the door and went inside. He took a match box from his pocket and lit it. With it, he lit up some candles. He pulled a chair for the Princess. Fedyenka sat down on it and Sabio Tenth shut the door and pulled a chair for himself then sat on it.

"I think it will be the best to call me by my name from now on Your Highness. My name's Yuri Lewis." said Sabio Tenth.

Right at the moment he told his name, Fedyenka felt like she has heard the name somewhere before. it was written on her face that she's in deep thoughts with something.

"Is something the matter? By the way, would you please give me the permission to call you by your name-"

When he was going to say "Your Highness" Fedyenka stopped him and whispered to him saying, "If you keep calling me that there's a chance that we'll be in trouble. I think that someone has been following us."

"Is that so...Okay, I will call you by your name from now Miss Balandin."

"I think that you have already done it. You've been calling me "Your Highness" since we've started going this way." said Fedyenka being annoyed by his ignorance.

"I think that the one who's been following us is no one but my friend Kristen." said Yuri.

"Oh? I think you missed the 'girl' before friend" saying this Fedyenka joked.

"I wish to make her my one but she refuses every time I ask her." said Yuri. He tried venting to Fedyenka a little.

"Aw, too bad. Hey Kristen did you hear that?" said Fedyenka hoping that Kristen would hear.

"I don't think that she can hear us. Maybe she's outside." said Yuri.

"Alrighty. It isn't raining so there's nothing cruel if we let her stay outside. Now, spit it." said Fedyenka. In a while she has completely forgotten her royal attire.

"My my your words-, do you hang around with commoners too much? said Yuri being surprised.

"Yes I do and they are the most fun people to hang around with. By the way, can you please get to the point Mr. Lewis?" said Fedyenka.

"Ah yes. You are really impatient, I have to say. The secrets I wanted to share were about the relic."

The moment Fedyenka heard that it was about the relic she got herself all ears.

"Go on, I'm listening." said Fedyenka.

"Before that I want to ask you something. Why do you trust me?" said Yuri as he lit up a cigarette.

"Get that thing out of your mouth will ya? The smell sucks." said Fedyenka with an annoyed tone.

He snuff out the cigarette and said, "Okay. Now, where is my answer?"

"You've told me the truths so far that's why I trust you with this." said Fedyenka straightforwardly.

"Oh? How do you know that the things I have told you were true?" said Yuri as he crossed his leg.

"Well, you've told me that the person who's been following us is a friend of yours and is a girl. I can tell by her footsteps that she is a girl. Her footsteps had high frequency. I have the instincts of a bat after all. I can hear the faintest of sounds."

"Ah I see. And there I thought you already hold the secrets I wanted to tell you about. Anything else you've seen trustworthy in my words, Miss Balandin?"

"You told me that Sabia Third lied to me and I already knew that by her expressions and deeds." said Fedyenka with the usual cold face she holds to unknown people.

"Very well. You are a cunning one which saved me from a waste of lot of time. Your father is indeed a suspect. Just like all of us in the room we've had the meeting at." said Yuri.

Yuri tells her the whole conversation between the leaders. Since, Fedyenka didn't know what happened at first, she paid all of her attention to his words.

"The first thing I want to tell you is about the Relic. Sabio First told all of us about it. He said, it's a relic that stores genes of a powerful mutants. The relic cannot be used but the things inside of it can be used for various wrongdoings like creating mutated lifeforms and misusing them. There was once a brilliant mad scientist who took unique mutants as test subjects and stored there genes in it. When the scientist was discovered, the scientist was burned to ashes as well as his works...but there was still one thing left and that was this relic. Thus, there lied the unharmed relic which was about to be sealed forever but now is stolen."

After hearing this, Fedyenka thought, "What if it was used to make the mutated lifeforms we see today? Are the stories and legends we've been told about them all a big lie?"

"Woah...You are a great storyteller. Why is my father a suspect though?" said Fedyenka like she doesn't care a bit about the relic.

"Well thank you. And about your father, he is a suspect because the one who stole the relic was wearing a badge of your nation's troops." said Yuri.

"Seriously? What if he stole it?" said Fedyenka.

Yuri replied, "Yes, that is why everyone is a suspect."

Yuri repeats the rest of the conversation afterwards. Since Fedyenka already knew everything except the story of the relic, she was just listening to it having no choice but to be bored.

After telling Fedyenka everything, Yuri said, "And that's everything that happened."

"So, everyone's busy investigating now huh...I think that the Sabio Second guy is suspicious. He was the only one who was straightforwardly blaming my father. My father even mentioned that there is probably someone who is trying to frame him." said Fedyenka.

"I have the same hunch as yours, Miss Balandin." said Yuri nodding his head a little.

"Can I ask you something? If you call me 'Miss Balandin' over and over again does it really make much difference than calling me 'Your Highness'? asked Fedyenka.

"Well there is no one except the two of us that is why I feel more comfortable calling you formally rather than pretending to be informal." replied Yuri.

"You're too ignorant. Maybe this is why you don't get promotions." said Fedyenka as she smiled.

Yuri replied with saying, "Ouch..."

There was suddenly someone knocking on the door. Yuri opened it. The moment he opened it he became cautious. Because even he couldn't tell whether the person is someone he knows or not. The person they saw was a woman in a strange dress with her face covered with a mask. The woman had a mismatched pair of top and bottom which looked horrible on her.
