From this chapter on, I'm sorry but, the author have to interject and, have all the facts crosscheck.
Ashlin and Cleys ventured through Earth's cities: an archangel accompanying Death as he collects souls. Most seeped and beg to stay alongside their loved one yet it was a request he could not fulfill. Ashlin's heart clenched at their screams and pleads as their claws sank deep into the ground, trying to become a foundation; unmoving but they fail miserably. Their last soul collect was memorable; her red hair and caramel eyes weren't her most noteworthy quality instead it was her attitude towards the unknown. First, Harley cried unable to comprehend her current situation then it was, as though a switch flicked inside her. Tears stopped their downpour, a smile smile slowly spread onto pale strawberry lips.
"I'm not afraid to die, I have eagerly awaited this moment and believe it or not I've begged for your presence most of my life but, now you're here, I cant help think about those I'm leaving behind. They'll be sad, weeping and mourning my departure"
Cleus agreed to allow her one last walk down familiar streets and specially appointed spots. Cleus stared at the young soul, her joyous smile was opposite of her fate and he was spell bound by her aura; innocent sparkle swimming in caramel pools. Ashlin stood on the sidelines observing their innocent interaction. She hid a smile witnessing an unbelievable sight; Death falling for a mortal. They guided Harley safely to the netherworld; Cleus stood stunned after receiving a peck on his cheek as farewell.
"Ash? What just happened?" Cleus asked dazed.
"I think you discovered your heart's obsession and your soul's familiar part" he gave her a narrowed looked before walking into the city's atmosphere, "Hi! Wait up!" Ashlin shouted running forward.
"Don't mention this to anyone" Ashlin did a zipping motion across her mouth.
"I have no idea what you're talking about" she furrowed her eyes, tilting her head slightly, "Did something happen? What is it? All I've seen since we entered Earth, is dying mortals" Cleus smirked.
"Smart response" he complimented.
They roamed through the city, observing different scenery and displays, adding life to everything it touch. Humans were lost in the bustle of life; chasing time. The duo got dinner at a nice restaurant before journeying to a remote area; tall cliff overlooking a breathtaking, flowers ridden valley. The moon's glow created a mystic atmosphere. Cleus sat silent, he wrestle with thoughts; he was being devoured by guilt, feeling as though he was betraying Ashlin by keeping his conversation with the devil twins secret.
"Cleus" Ashlin called snapping her fingers near his ears, "Cleus, hello? Anyone there? CLEUS!" she shouted jolting him out of his thoughts, "Are you alright? You seem bothered, I don't mind listening if you need someone to talk to".
"Have you ever thought of returning to heaven?" voice barely audible.
"Where did that come from? Are you trying to chase me away?" her eyes glowed in an unnatural way piercing into him.
"No, no....it's just...you're...."he searched for the right words.
"I'm what?"
"We've been researching everything ever written about Chaos Children. You are the reset button; you're existence starts as a warning and grows into action. When all, is chaotic a warning to unify is given, if the chaos grows it causes the 'warning' to gain enough power to take action. From the moment you were born, any power exercised, you obsorbs; since you were given birth to, you've been observing energy fromAngel's, demons, celestial beings etc" he cast his gaze down solemnly, " We've been trying to think of a way to keep such a fate away from you and....."
" What are the solutions you've thought of?" Cleus eyes widened in a pain.
"Ashl-"
"What is the solution Cleus?" her breath hitch in anticipation.
"It was suggested that you should drink from River Lethe and....and" he drifted off into thought.
"You guys think it's better if I return to Heaven where I am monitored" she rolled her eyes.
"Ashlin, it's safer" he argued.
"Why would you all care, what's safer or not? Wasn't it you who kidnapped me and dragged me to Hell? You stood guard at my cell and refused to let me free, two years I begged you!" she stood extending tainted wings, "Now it's no longer about your lust and attractions, now the fate of your world's at stake you're ready to force me somewhere again" she tried acting unbothered but her eyes betrayed her allowing tears to freely flow.
"Ashlin, it isn't-"
"It's not what I'm thinking? Well that's how I feel, how foolish of me. I believe I found good in a realm of evil. Listen carefully, the saint always thinks of everyone before themselves but I never claimed to be a saint" with this she flew towards Hell and straight to Lucan.
Lucan sat in his office unable to focus on work, there was too many conflicting feelings swirling inside him. He need to choose between love or duty, who had his loyalty? Wooden door flew open with an angry Ashlin steadily behind. She was barely in the room when her anger exploded.
"You're thinking about making me drink from Lethe and handing me over to Heaven, like some sort of gift?! You lair" she drew her sword from thin air.
"Ashlin, it was a suggestion" he tried to reason with her.
"A suggestion? And you all are contemplating it, how is that, only a suggestion?" he stood without a reasponse, "Were your words, all sweet lies? Were there no truth in them? Were any of your joy and laughter genuine" tears streamed down velvet features and she looked utterly shattered.
Lucan tried approaching but she held up her weapon daring him to risk her life. Ashlin found it hard to breathe as she began to choke on her cries. Stumbling out a nearby window, she staggered falling motionless near Styx. She laughed weakly; how ironic fate was, no matter where she ran, the truth caught up with her. She didnt belong, nowhere.
