I have seen her before. Those green eyes and brown colored hair. That unforgettable smile. I know her. I can't be mistaken. But why my memories are so blurred? Why can't I remember her face? My head is spinning. I can't take this anymore. I don't know how to solve these puzzled feelings. I follow her as she leaves the flower shop. With my every step I am getting closer to her.
My phone buzzes up. It's Jason. Now is not the right time to talk to him about his problems. I need to solve mine first.
He always makes trouble everywhere he goes and I'm sure he's in one right now and that's why he called me.
But I'm sorry.
I can't. Not now.
I silenced my phone and put it back in my pocket. I look up but she is... gone.
I run. I run as fast as I can to find her. I know her. I know that I met her before . But why can't I remember? I need to find her.
It's 8 pm. I have been searching her for over 5 hours. I couldn't find her. I take out my phone. 23 missed calls!
Oh sh*t! I forgot about Jason. I call him back.
"Where have you been, Edmund?"
Well, I don't have an answer for that right now.
"I'm sorry, Jason. We will talk over this. Meet me at my place".
Before he could even say anything, I hang up the phone. I don't wanna talk about all this over the phone. I reach my home.
I hear someone knocking at my door. I open the door. Jason came with a bouquet in his hand.
That surprises me. That's not like him at all.
He smiles at me showing his teeth. He does have a wide smile. I raise a serious brow. What's wrong with him!! He walks past me and goes straight towards the kitchen. I notice foods too.
Oh wow! That's really not like him.
"What? Are you just gonna stare at me or gonna help me too, bro?" Jason asks as he starts to unpack the foods he bought.
I'm little confused right now. I pass him a bowl. "Is today a special day or something, Jason?"
He laughs.
My head is so heavy to even think. I better take a shower right now.
I come downstairs to see Jason... wait what? DANCING?!
Damn! That was loud.
He approaches me and asks me to dance. Surely something happened. Has he gone mad or what?! Jason turned off the music.
"I got a job at the restaurant, bro", he hugs me.
Oh that's what really happened. I'm at ease now.
" I am so glad that you got the job", I pat on his shoulder.
He turns on the music. " Let's have dinner".
"How was your day though?" I ask Jason.
"It was better than other days, of course. I always end up getting in a mess and you come in my rescue. You know I always land up with bad guys doing bad stuffs. But today was a different. The president called me. She liked the dish I made. She offered me the post of head chef. I was so damn happy to hear that. I assured her that I will be present tomorrow sharp at 9. Anyway how about yours?".
I sigh.
My day!
I was chasing after a girl for almost the whole day! He keeps staring at me, waiting for my reply.
I look up and say, "I saw her".
He stood up. "You finally found her?!!" He started clapping. I don't wanna give him false hopes of course.
"I'm not sure yet, Jason. It may not be true. I don't know yet. I just..."
"You will find her soon or later. Don't worry, bro. Just be patient. For the past few months you never mentioned about her. But today you saw someone who looked like her. It can be her too. We don't know. Just hope for the best"
"Yeah. Hope for the best", I say.
My phone buzzes up.
I got a mail. I open it. I didn't expect that I would get two good news today.
Firstly, Jason got the job. And secondly, this mail. My book got published. I can't be more happy than this. I have waited so long for this day. This is my first book. I posted my novel on a site long ago and from there I got a contract. Finally it got published. Jason took my phone for confirming. He started freaking out.
Okay that was expected.
"It's time for celebration, Edmund. Let's go to the café and grab some coffee", he winks.
I nod. He surely does know me well. He is a good guy. He's the kind of guy who has a good humor and a sweet soul. Whenever I'm happy or tensed I prefer drinking coffee. It makes me feel good.
We are at the Café Rio . I check my mail again. I check the site I published my book on. It feels good. Finally people are gonna read the story about a mystery girl. I don't know how I came up with the idea of a mystery girl. Maybe it's because I always had some kinda weird feelings about this one girl.
Some bizarre moments. But it felt so real sometimes. So real that it made my heart ache. Whenever I think of her, I get some offbeat feelings and thoughts. But everything's so blurred...
It received so many comments over the last 1 hour. Sky joined us too. Sky is Jason's girlfriend. Jason and Sky have been dating for more than 3 years now. They seems pretty good together.
"I saw your book. The first chapter is so good. It's definitely gonna attract people's attention due to the mystery girl", Sky says while taking a sip.
"Thanks, Sky. Yeah, that was the plan", I wink.
I finish my coffee and head towards the door. Jason is busy with Sky so I don't even bother him asking. I step outside the door and suddenly a woman rush past me. Before I could even realize what happened she left.
I look down. She dropped a key ring. It looks too familiar. I have seen this before but...
Jason and Sky came outside and handed me over a piece of paper. I open it...
'You wrote about me'
I stare at the piece of paper for a while. I don't know what's happening.
I ask Jason about the paper. He said a girl kept it on their table and walked away before they could ask her anything.
It's gotta be her. I know it's her. I crave for our memories. These memories are scaring the hell out of me. Why is she running away from me? No matter where she is I will find her. I have to...
