I was looking forward to this day. Elora called me a while ago to ask what I am going to wear. I told her I'll be wearing something black. She said okay.
I'm just overthinking some silly questions, like 'Does Elora Noelle like me? Does she think I'm cute?'
And I might be making assumptions based on the way she asked me.
Without any delay I reach her apartment.
She opens the door.
She's wearing black too. No wonder she asked.
She looks beautiful.
I'm sure she's already reading my mind so there's no need to tell her.
She glances up at me. I'm not sure whether she's reading my mind or not.
"You look beautiful", I say, looking at her from top to bottom.
She smiles appreciatively. She grabs my hand and starts to walk.
"You didn't read my mind?" I ask hesitantly.
"No", she grins.
That's strange. "Why?"
"Well I decided not to read yours anymore. You're an exceptional". She quickly looks away.
My heart instantly feels better.
Though I don't pretty much believe that vampire exists. I mean no one would, right?
All these could be a coincidence just. Like thinking alike. She didn't read my mind now maybe because she haven't thought the same. Though that was pretty obvious. Or maybe she wanted me to compliment her before she would even compliment herself by reading my mind.
Silly thing.
I'm counting every steps as we walk.
Twenty, twenty one, twenty two...
I stop counting. I'm not walking anymore. Neither is she.
She stands in front of me. "I bought a key ring for you"
She smiles as if she's proud of herself. So I smile with her too. She doesn't make any movements.
"So are you gonna give it to me or what?" I ask glancing at her.
"Of course", she shrugs.
She takes out a packet from her purse and gives me. She even wrote her name on top of it. She inhales a deep breath and I look at her. She smiles at me and points to my hand.
"Do you like it?" she asks.
She looks nervous. I like that.
"Um.. I don't like it. Its just..."
"Its okay. I know many shops nearby. We can go buy one". She looks sad. Almost as if saying goodbye to me.
Silly girl.
"I love it", I assure her.
"Are you doing so as I'm not reading your mind anymore?" she arches her eyebrow. "Anyways I wouldn't buy another one for you".
Rude.
I love it.
Half an hour passes and I'm feeling good just by looking at her. The way her hair falls on her cheek as she looks through the menu and she keeps tucking it back behind her ear. She checks time on her phone. She keeps looking outside and again at the menu.
"How long are you gonna stare at me?" she laughs.
"I can't just stop", I say looking into her dark brown eyes.
Her hand is not steady anymore. She looks nervous again.
God! I love it.
I order food for us. She was staring at the menu for like twenty minutes, and now she says she doesn't want to eat anything.
How can I eat sitting here in front of her when she is not eating?
I tell the waiter to pack our foods.
"Where do you want to go now?" I ask her.
"The Amusement park", she glances at me and smiles.
I shake my head. "Roger that!"
I grab Elora's hand and start to walk. Her hand is cold like before.
"I want to play that". She points to the claw machine. "I'm so good at it ".
Confidence. I like it.
"Let's see", I grin.
She stands in front of the claw machine. I insert coins for her. And the very next moment she grabs a stuffed animal.
Ok wow.
"Cool", I say laughing.
"Some people think the claw machine is so hard to win because the stuffed animals are packed so tightly together. But actually its easy you know", she says as she continues to grab toys.
She picks up 5 toys consecutively.
Wow! I wasn't expecting that though. She is too good at it. I feel so proud of her. Some kids gathered around to see her. Well its actually worth watching. I pass some of the toys to the kids as she said she doesn't really want all of them.
I notice her hand. She seems okay. But why she is dropping the toys even though she picked them up?
I look up at her. She is not smiling anymore. She looks sad. But why?
"What happened? Are you okay? Why do you look sad?" I ask, facing to her.
"I'm sad because I can pick all of them".
Elora stares at the claw machine for a while then starts walking. And I follow her. I don't know what she meant by that. Maybe I won't understand either. I want to ask her about it. But I'm not sure how to bring it up.
I glance at her. She even looks beautiful from behind.
I love her hair. Dark brown long wavy yet lustrous hair.
She stops walking and turns around.
"How about we eat an ice cream?", she says, pointing towards the shop.
I agree with her. "Good idea".
I hope at least an ice cream can lighten her mood up.
We stand in line to order.
She stands in front of me. "I like chocolate".
"Me too", I smile, holding her hand.
Cold.
She looks tired.
We take our ice creams and head towards home.
Her apartment is on the other side.
I grab her hand and we cross the road.
I stand facing her.
"Goodbye. um... see you.. tomorrow?"
"I have some work tomorrow"
"Oh... okay. No problem.. okay", I say hesitantly.
She comes closer to me, and wraps her arms around me. I can feel her breath on my neck.
I rest my chin on her shoulder and close my eyes and inhale. The way she makes me feel is so overwhelming; I find it difficult to continue standing on my feet. My legs tremble.
"I want to see you again", I whisper.
She nods.
She let go of me.
I look into her eyes and smile softly.
Then I turn around to walk through the crosspath.
I look behind. She is still standing there, staring at me.
Suddenly I see a car approaching me.
Its way too fast and I find myself being stiff.
Is this how I die?
The very next seconds I find myself in a safe spot and I feel someone's cold arms around my waist. It's her. She just saved me. That startles me.
she glances up at me.
"Why the hell were you standing in the middle of the road?" she yells.
I can't focus on her question right now. I have one of mine. Does she really has some kind of power or something?
"How did you even get here so fast", I ask, hoping that her answer doesn't scares me.
"That's not the answer to my question". She looks angry.
"Not to mine either".
"Just go home, stupid". She walks away.
I don't have a single sense about what just happened right now. The driver apologizes to me. But what I need right now is not the apologies but the answer to my question.
I really do need to do some research.
