Chapter 5 - Legrandeus

Verzo didn't bother asking at first, but had to now. "What happened to your shoulder?" He asked in curiousity. "Oh, that.."

Eguru didn't put his hoodie back on so it was quite obvious he was wounded. "I hurt myself while climbing down a hill", he lied.

"I see. How very unfortunate." Verzo didn't believe him but Eguru didn't notice it.

Later, they both talked about life and Eguru asked a few questions about this land. He wanted to know in which year they were in, who ruled it, and so on and so forth.

Some of his questions wouldn't want to be answered. Eguru didn't complain though as he had already gained an understanding of what was going on.

'So the year is 918, the ``3rd sacrifice``... The country is ruled by multiple authorities and the other side has been like this for hundreds of years...'

He had also been told that people coming from the other side are possesed by demons and devils, are undead or curse-marked. Nothing good was coming that side.

Both of them also wanted to find out about one another, however, they had already reached the city's gate.

Eguru was astonished by how beatiful Legrandeus was on the outside. He expected something rather medieval themed like a huge entrance with watch towers beside it. But he was fooled of his thinking.

Buildings like skyscrapers, residentials and beautifully aligned houses filled his sight. Some of the skyscrapers even had flat screens on them showing all kinds of different advertisements.

Just as he looked up a bit higher, one stood out the most. Farther behind, he saw a gigantic majestic villa instead of a castle. 'There has to be something like a king', he then thought. On Egurus face, there was a wide smile and his eyes shimmered in excitement.

Verzo just laughed seeing Eguru's reaction. "So, what do you think?" he said, now smiling too.

"It looks so beatiful! Can we go in??" He couldn't wait any longer. Verzo then talked with the guards and they opened the gate. Those guards had firearms and even swords on their belt.

While entering Egurus excitement grew even further. Even in the world of his he hadn't seen such gorgeous man-made architectures. Even the roads were fancy as hell. And advanced too! Eguru thought he was in a cyberpunk game but at the same time thought he was in a regular city.

"Damn man, this is awesome..." He was stunned and Verzo was not surprised at all. "That's only the beginning, Eguru", he tapped him on the shoulder and pointed at a big building north-east.

"You see that? THAT's the best casino you'll ever find in all of Raiherd!" Verzo almost shouted in excitement. "Even famous people like the king go there to play! If you ever feel like testing your luck, go there. Trust me."

"Meh, I got to be honest with you Verzo. I don't really like gambling. Especially not in a casino", Eguru shrugged, "always hated it though I cannot really explain why." Verzo then just told him that gambling really isn't for everybody.

He then turned around to see if there was something eye-catching. But the moment he found something Verzo dragged him away from that store. "What are you doing??" Eguru asked surprised of that mans actions. "You don't have a legal license to be in this kingdom right? We're gonna get you one. On the black market."

"On the black market?! You want to get one illegally?!" "Yes. Getting one legally is way to expensive and I bet you don't have any money, let alone our currency." Verzo explained.

And he wasn't wrong. Eguru indeed was not possessing any kind of currency he could buy anything with and so just realized all his curiosity was half pointless.

Eguru also ignored the huge crowds and density on the roads up until now where it was impossible to do so. Hundreds, probably even thousands of people were shopping, walking, day-dreaming and doing other kinds of things. 'How did I not see all these people?' He felt stupid. Verzo even looked at Eguru as if he was the most brain-dead person on the planet.

As they were walking past hundreds of people trying to not bump into them Eguru took a glimpse of everything he thought was interesting. Soon enough the number of people decreased. They entered the black market.
