Chapter 8 - Otherworldly beings

Verzo had a really nice home. It had two floors and even a small pool. He wasn't rich at all, yet somehow had one in his house. 'Maybe they're way cheaper than where I come from?..'

Eguru also noticed that Raiherd may even be more advanced than all the countries in his world. Consoles that were only compatible with VR, PCs with so much power they could easily surpass super computers and so on. He was fascinated about all these things.

Another thing he had realized: Food is almost as he had known it. The only big differences he saw was that more ingredients were used to spice everything up.

Before going to bed he then proceeded to take a shower. Something he hasn't done in almost 700 years. Verzo borrowed him some old clothes for the next few days, so he could clean his old stuff. Well, he needed go buy new clothing, actually. His clothes were worn down and some parts were already missing.

Eguru was relieved as he let hot water pour on him. It felt so nice and he wanted to shower longer but he didn't want to raise Verzo's water bills.

Later, he finally laid down. He was tired as hell and didn't have any more energy left in his body yet he wasn't able to fall asleep.

Thoughts about his previous life and the question about why he was even here trapped him in his mind.

'It's actually crazy how this world has so many similarities to where I come from... It somehow only feels like I've travelled into another country and have not been reincarnated or teleported into another world.'

He put his arms under the blanket. 'Why am I here though? Just this morning I was in a massive chamber filled with horrifying creatures with some kind of system in front of face. And now, after coming here it's just gone. It doesn't make any sense to me...'

Those were his last thoughts before closing his eye-lids and shutting down.

Do you really think it was a good idea to take away the ``system`` we gave that human?" one being calmly asked the other while sipping tea.

The other being just shrugged and said "I'm convinced it was a good idea. That human doesn't need that power as of this moment and should focus on learning about the world. He may face some difficult situations sometimes, but that'll probably not happen too soon. No need to worry."

It made some gesture with their hand and walked away. "Where are you going Tamiel?" someone asked.

Tamiel didn't bother turning around and just said "Business." "Ah I see. Good luck then. Probably won't be easy to spend time with him."

"Yeah, yeah whatever. Bye now."

"See ya."

That being returned to talking with the presence in front of it.

"So, what do you think of this world our little man is in right now? I absolutely think it's going to be exciting once he reaches the other side!" It laughed.

Putting down their cup of tea it replied only with a name.

"Radia. I know you enjoy those kinds of things a lot but please take it seriously. He must, no matter what, destroy the core of that world. It's corrupted and only damages the system."

Radia unsurprisingly didn't pay attention to anything that just has been said to her. She then realized a rather serious gaze on her. "Oh, um. What did you say?" she then asked while smiling wryly.

The other being then just sighed and began drinking tea again. "Come on, Aqeen! You know very well I don't listen to you when you're talking in such a serious manner. It's so boring hearing you talk like that."

Radia cleared her throat before continuing. "Why don't you take it a little easier?"

Aqeen didn't really seem happy about her words and slowly began to look rather annoyed. "Because we can't take it easier! You know exactly what happens, when we, Rulers fail to to the job given to us."

"But-", she got cut off immediately. This time, someone else was talking again.

"No Radia. Aqeen is right. If we don't do our job what will the Judges and Executioners think of us? Do you want to end up getting replaced?"

"Yeah", Radia said and seemed to be in a bad mood now. "I guess you two are right. No fun, but right."

"Thank you, Srillus", Aqeen said and stood up walking past him. Srillus just chuckled. "You're welcome old geezer."

This is marking the beginning of a long journey...
