As he was climbing the rooftop he checked if he found anyone chasing him. It was a good thing he had Lia's number and proceeded to call her for help. While explaining everything that has happened until now he continued to go from roof to roof.
"So what should I do? I killed him by accident!", he stated once again. "Well yeah but that won't change anything. The mere fact that you killed someone innocent is undeniable. Authorities won't just let you slip because you murdered the wrong person. I get what you're trying to say, however I believe it is best to leave this city."
Verzo hid on a school's rooftop to take a small break. "I understand. I'll try to stay hidden and find Eguru. I'll have to explain the situation to him and best believe he won't abandon me. Could you by any chance hold them off for me though? They start to gather in masses I won't be able to hide from."
"I can try but don't take it for granted. It might not work. Watch out and call me once you two made it out. If you get caught there's no one being able to help you anymore."
Those were her last words to Verzo before she hung up.
Very carefully he made his way to his house. Eguru wasn't there. 'Maybe he's in the libraby?' Not there either. 'Restaurant?' Nope. He couldn't find him.
Even more guards were gathering and the citizens were told to go inside their houses to avoid being involved in this manner. Verzo found out because he eavesdropped on some of the guards. Information was valuable at the moment.
He tried his hardest to stay out of sight and it worked for a long time. But time was something he didn't have. 'Where are you?! Damn it.' He began to lose patience.
Just where was he supposed to search? Legrandeus was one of the biggest cities in Raiherd! Of course it would almost be impossible to find a single person in such a huge area. 'Could he have entered the black market? No... That's unlikely. He hasn't been there for too long. I'm sure he didn't remember the correct path.'
With that much in mind he could basically scrap a searching a fourth of Legrandeus. The black market was that big.
'Right, Fabio! Don't tell me he found Eguru!' Slowly starting to worry he thought about possible locations. Where would a killer chase down it's victim? That's when it clicked. 'He's definetely in some dark ass alley. No one would even notice someone dying there as no human being ever goes there! Dude, why didn't you think Eguru?!'
Immediately rushing to every alley he knew he had to check the most likely spots first. Eventually the guards got less the deeper he went. Lia probably managed to distract some of them, too.
But it was also destined for him to meet Fabio and his companion at some point. And so it happened. Verzo immediately turned hostile and only wanted to know one thing.
"Where is Eguru?", he asked rather aggressively. "Woah calm down buddy. No need to get so angry." Fabio's companion looked down at Verzo. Little did he know that was the last thing he did.
Again, with rapid speed and presicion the throat of that man was slit open. Verzo stood at the exact same spot from 5 seconds ago. The man just fell on the ground livelessly. He proceeded to clean his knife and ask Fabio once again.
This time Fabio looked rather concerned though. "Man. I'm sorry to get it to you but my companion that you just killed murdered him. I swear, I wasn't the one who did it."
"He's... dead?" Verzo was in disbelief. "Yeah. For about 10 minutes now. He thought you were gonna save him but that was just my companion."
Fabio tried his best not to anger him even more. He could escape anytime but facing Verzo's wrath is something he didn't want to do anytime soon.
Eguru's friend spoke up. "Give me one reason not to kill you, a certified murderer, right now. I'll wait."
In front of Fabio was that Verzo. That man he didn't want to face. That man he was afraid of. Could his speed stay unmatched? Or would he get caught by him if he tried to flee?
"I know where he currently is. I know where his body is", he somewhat calmly replied. He tried to hide the fact that he was scared.
"What if it's a trap?" Another question he had to answer. One wrong move and Fabio was dead.
"I promise I won't stab you in the back. I swear on ..."
"Good."
Fabio guided him. Verzo followed. Never did he ever think it would come to this. His new, best friend was dead.
