Chapter 11 - Lia

The next couple of days were all the same once again. Eguru studied and Verzo corrected his mistakes and explained a lot to him. He then went to random people in that massive libraby and talked to them. All of them should definetely know that Eguru is a foreigner but still were super polite to him and didn't bother asking about it.

In general, he found that almost all of the people he talked to were raised very well and had a lot of respect towards each other. Of course there were some folks who weren't nice at all and basically did him dirty. Nonetheless he liked the place.

Another good thing about the libraby was the fact that as long as you didn't take books home you didn't have to pay for them. Basically everything was free yet the owners of this place weren't facing any financial issues. At least Verzo and Eguru were sharing this belief.

He also spent more time writing and reading than talking now. Each letter was easy to write and only consisted of some very simple lines. It was 22 letters in total.

Suddenly Eguru noticed someone bump into him. "Oww, sorry I didn't see you there sir.."

What bumped into him was a child. Probably around six years old. 'I'm glad this happened now and not two weeks earlier', he thought. 'I wouldn't have been able to understand a single thing'.

He smiled at the kid. "It's fine, don't worry about it. Are you okay?" Hearing how Eguru wasn't speaking fluently and had a light accent little one had to ask him about it. "Why are you talking so weirdly? Have you not paid attention in school??"

'Surprisingly polite the kid', Eguru thought and glaced over at Verzo who apparently had the same words in mind. But before he could answer the kid's question he heard a young woman rush in and put her arms around the youngster. "Where have you been Puck? I was so worried because you weren't near me anymore!"

She sounded relieved. "I don't know.. I just went somewhere and then ran and then I hit this man in front of me." Puck explained in all honesty. The young woman then got up and apologized not only to Eguru but Verzo too. "I hope he didn't cause you guys any trouble."

She had a warm smile on her face. Only now Eguru noticed how pretty she was. She had shimmering, long brown hair with silver hair-strands and blue eyes with a grey touch. Her skin looked smooth and she was wearing an oversized hoodie which made her look even prettier in his eyes. Eguru was also taller than her. By about two- to three inches.

Verzo stepped beside Eguru now and gave Eguru a nod as if he said "go for it man". He of course immediately knew what Verzo meant. "Oh don't worry about it. It's not like he caused any trouble", he was smiling and crossed his arms. The other woman smiled in relieve.

Eguru didn't notice it but he somehow managed to speak so fluently Verzo had to hide the fact that he was stunned.

"So, what's your name?" He asked. "I'm Eguru."

"I'm Lia, it's a pleasure to meet you", she looked over to Verzo. "And what's your name?"

He actually wanted to make Eguru the center of attention but he also didn't want to be rude. "My name's Verzo." Still not the most polite but he didn't bother.

Eguru was in a relationship before which lasted for about five years before he eventually died. He remembered and wondered how she was doing. Reality hit when he realized that she was already dead. No way she'd live for as long as 700 years.

Suddenly an unpleasent feeling of emptiness was overcoming him. Thinking about it hit him like a truck.

All of a sudden he felt a hand on his shoulder shaking his body. He drifted away and didn't even notice. "Oh, uh what?"

"Dude did your soul leave your body or something? You weren't reacting for two minutes!" You could really hear how concerned Verzo was. "Lia was about to call someone because we thought something happened!"

"Who is Li.. Ohh", 'right.. I drifted away before she even got the chance to tell me her name...' Eguru then made them clear that he was completly fine and only spaced out. What an understatement.

The next hour they spent talking and getting to know each other a bit. Verzo didn't reveal much about him but Eguru already knew that. Lia and him on the other hand were just clicking. They talked and fantasized about all kinds of different things. Puck was ignored almost all of the time and only Verzo cared to give him some attention.

One thing Eguru didn't expect was that Lia was one of the most skilled soldiers in this country. She by no means looked like one but yet was that strong? He couldn't believe it at first.

She was using a sniper rifle with a caliber of 7,6 millimeters, a katana and a dagger. Most of the time she wouldn't carry around the sniper though since it was too heavy to be worn casually. Raiherd was also at peace so besides the occasional occurrence of beasts there was no danger. Well, except for Fabio, or any other kind of guy from the black market.

Lia wanted to exchange numbers before they went their own ways again but Eguru didn't have a phone. Verzo offered to take her number and save it for when his friend would have an own phone though.

That's how Eguru slowly turned into a simp... Just kidding.
