Chereads / Reborn: To Save My Students / Chapter 20 - An unexpected Surprise

Chapter 20 - An unexpected Surprise

[The King's Guards would like to be renamed, would you like to rename the King's Guards? Yes/No]

"Yes," I answered, now thinking of a name suitable for them.

I pondered for a while until something suddenly popped into my head.

I remembered a character in the romance of the three kingdom novel about a bandit leader known as Yan Baihu. I thought he was cool when I was young, when my mother would read the novel to me.

"Baihu." Chinese for white tigers.

[Confirmed. The king's Guards will now be known as Baihu.]

After the notification, a pop up screen appeared with the name Baihu on the top and a listing of all the members on the screen with Tavish at the top and the Captain title next to it. There were six members in Baihu and have four spots available for future members. The group is currently at level one and can add more spots once certain levels are met.

At entry level, only ten members are allowed. At level 2 the members are increased by 10 and so on until you reached level 10 at 100 members. The Knight's Order, my main group screen popped up and showed that they are level 3 and could hold 30 members but currently has 23 members.

This was the same group that had royal in its name but when a pop up asked for me to rename the group, I just took out the royal part, partly because it sounded more proper and one less word to say made a whole lot of difference.

Marlos name was at the top with the Captain title besides his name. Grayson's name was below his with the position of Vice Captain. He was the previous leader of the Royal Knight's Order who guarded the prince. The name below Grayson was Loc who has the prestige role of guarding me. Loc now has been promoted to Royal Elite.

The number of groups I could have in total was ten which meant that if everything was maxed, I could potentially have about 1000 troops across ten groups of 100 in each. At least that was the impression I got when the system portrayed it as such. Hoping my impression of it was real, the prospect of this brought a smile to my face. At this point in time, I have 29 troops out of 100 with the potential for growth. To prove my point a pop up screen appeared in front of me.

I was already out of the Royal hospital wing when I wrapped my mind around the whole prospect and was now walking through an arched walkway towards my room but spotted a place I was all too familiar with. On a whim, I decided it was time I visited this place, like I was meeting an old friend again.

At some point from the royal wing to this place, Tavish dismissed himself, saying he was going to inform the others about the news which I arched an eyebrow at. I wasn't sure why but beside the chain icon next to their names and are now on my side thanks to the converter skills, they still retained their personality and image. I chuckled to myself as I stood outside a door with the words 'Library' written at the top.

I walked in and knew exactly what to do and where to go. I've been in here so many times in my previous life that I knew this place like the back of my hand, even though the inside was spacious. The library was filled with many thing's I would've never seen at the libraries back home. I would describe this library more as a museum within in a library considering if I looked up, I would see big predator skeletal replicas hanging above me within a place that are filled to the brim with books.

I walked around until I found the spot where I mostly spent my time at. I wasn't actually looking for books at the moment but a quiet place where I could dive deeper into understanding these skills and the system. I'm treating this system the same way I would treat it in any of the MMO's I've played.

I sat down on a chair near the historical section where not many foot traffic are visible. I pulled out my skill set and started reading the description thoroughly.

Skill: Helping Hand Lvl 2

5% energy

Description: Recover and boost 20% more and give a 5% status resistance buff for 5 seconds.

No wonder my energy was depleted. Before, it said no cost but now it cost 5%. The skill must've levelled up without giving me a notification... I frowned at that but at least the upgraded effects justify the cost.

Skill: Master's Eyes Lvl 2

15% energy

Description: Upgraded enhanced eyesight with links to information network, this skill can not only read someone's physical profile but also mental profile. It can detect weakness and foresees suitable paths. Passive stat: when activated gain perception* 50.

*Perception: Allows the user to see better and quicker.

My eyes nearly shot out of my eye sockets... perception with 50 points? Doesn't that mean in a fight and I do have to fight sometimes, I could see their attacks coming and be able to do something about it even before the attacker was aware I had done something? I felt my mouth dry up as I gulped.

Skill: Information Network

No requirements

Description: Like the name suggests, all the information the user wants will appear before their very eyes like magic... Poof. It can also be linked up with other skills.

What the f... what kind of description is that? But the last part intrigued me. It can linked up with other skills? Wait... I remembered back at the banquet where I avoided the detection of the person who tried to detect me... was information network linked up to master's eyes? I needed to test this out later...

I moved on to the Ultimate, the ominously named 'Mastermind' skill. When I clicked onto the mastermind skill, 6 slots appeared around the skill. 4 of the 6 spots was filled. When I read the description for the 4 skills, I nearly burst into laughter but held it in because I remembered that I was in a library.

Skill: Converter

10% energy

Description: Come over to my side, I have cookies...

Skill: Mass Converter

25% energy

Description: Cookies not enough? I present to you cake! Everyone loves cake... cakes for everyone!

Ah! ha... phew, I thumped my chest to calm myself. Dang I should've done this in my room...

Skill: Absolute Converter

70% energy

Description: Your mine now bi...

When I looked at the energy cost, I was utterly speechless... that is a high energy gap... 25% to 70%? That's almost 3/4 of my whole energy just by using this skill... but wouldn't that mean the conversion rate is at 100%?

The last skill out of the four available was a helping skill which fortunately had a normal description... sort of...

Skill: A Helping Skill

10% energy

Description: Blessed by yours truly, I will give you a skill in a time of need... (Borrowed from your allies.)

Roha Cha, she has a sense of humour that's for sure.

The last two of the six skills present were greyed out with a question mark. I wondered if they would unlock themselves once I levelled up to a particular level or I would have to do something to unlock them hmm...

I went to my stats next to allocate the 5 points. I thought about it for only a few seconds when I noticed ability's power which I assumed raises the effectiveness and power of all my skills. I placed 3 of the points into that and 2 points into intelligence which was something I hoped was what as it's name implied...

{Ryan Huang's Stats}

Power: 17 (10+7)

Ability's Power: 123% (103+20)

Defense: 20 (10+10)

Intelligence: 12

Preservation: 10

Agility: 12 (10+2)

Control: 110% (100+10)

Will: 16 (10+6)

Heart: 15 (10+5)

[Passive stats]

None

(Available points to distribute: 0)

I then moved onto my inbox which contained items that I needed to open.

{Inbox}

[Beginner's package]

[Roha Cha's Welcoming Gift]

[Rewards for 'Teacher's heart' quest completion]

[Special Reward for 'Teacher's heart' time completion]

I looked at the beginner's package first and it's information popped up.

{Beginner's Package}

Description: For newbies, a ray of hope. A starter kit to aid you in your survival.

I frowned as I opened the 'beginners package' first.

Ting!

[You have gained 1000 exp]

[You have levelled up]

[You have levelled up]

[You have gain 5 additional stat points]

[You have obtained Storage Ring]

[You have obtained Newbie's Magical cloak]

My jaw opened wide as I saw it's contents. Exp that levelled me up twice, seven stat points, a storage ring and a magical cloak. The ring and cloak was on the table in front of me and I couldn't help but to stare at them.

The information of the ring popped up first.

{Storage Ring}

Grade: C

Description: Made from Gem stone found in the Dragon's cave. This fine ring will hold all your personal items.

Holds up to 10 items.

Can be upgraded.

"Not my best work but it has potential." -High Order Craftsman

Even though the storage ring grade was on the lower side and with only 10 slots... I knew I needed to be careful of what I put in it. I just don't know if some items would take up multiple slots. I knew that in some games I played, larger items would take up a few slots which infuriated me. I really hoped that when it said 10 slots, it meant it. If I had to place a large item in and it took up 2 slots, I would really be upset. I sighed as I moved on to the cloak.

The magical cloak screen popped up on cue.

{Newbie's Magical Cloak}

Grade: D

Description: A cloak made from the barebones of magical material, this cloak is rated worthless.

+10 energy regain

+5 ability's power

+3 intelligence

"Good luck newbie, may this cloak aid you in your survival in this cruel world." -High Order Tailors

There was a small print underneath it that I could barely read and had to squint.

"I'll pray for you, newbie every single day... May the Gods save your poor soul!"

Well that's not ominous at all but why would he down play a finely made cloak... I mean look at those stats.

The next one I wanted to open was 'Roha Cha's welcoming gift' and it's info popped up.

{Roha Cha's Welcoming Gift}

Description: I hoped you enjoy the contents of this gift, my precious champion. This is my welcoming gift to you! ^.^ *Kisses*

"This girl sure is something," I muttered to myself as I opened the gift.

Ting!

[Congratulation! You have obtained [Epic] Rune Orb Weather Creation]

[Congratulation! You have obtained [Legendary] Rune Orb Elemental Shift]

[Congratulation! You have obtained [Mythical] Rune Orb Nature's Aura]

[Congratulation! You have obtained [Godly] Rune Orb Catastrophe (Ultimate)]

[You have obtained Roha Cha's Power boost ring]

[You have obtained Roha Cha's blessings box]

My jaw unhinged as I was completely surprised and stunned. I felt more of the former as I stared at the Rune Orbs that laid on the table in front of me.

No fricken way! My old skill set.

Ba-dump, ba-dump

I heard my heartbeat loudly in my head.

I may need Dayana do that check up after this because I sure will need some medical attention. A small grin danced on my lips at the thought.
