Gunther eyed me before nodding to his sister. He let's go of Rolan's hand and straightened up.
"Sis. He's all yours." Gunther then walked to my side as Rolan shouted obscenities.
He's sister, the head librarian, walked towards Rolan and stared him down. With one look from her, Rolan's haughty attitude crumbled in an instant.
"How dare you use that language inside my library. How dare you threaten and treat my librarians or anyone of my patrons in such horrible manner. HOW DARE YOU WILLINGLY DISRESPECT MY LIBRARY!"
The head librarian pinched the ear of Rolan and dragged his ear along with himself all the way out the door. It was a sight unlike any other. I knew back in my home world, the librarians would never do such a thing even if the patron broke all the rules. Most likely they would call for security and asked them to deal with it. What I've just witnessed there was like an angry mother, pinched and dragged the ear of her disobedient son out the door.
"HO ooo! I just love watching my sister unleash her wrath on someone else other than myself..." Gunther looked at me from his perpetual vision with a warm smile etched on his face before continuing. "She raised me all by herself you know."
Gunther looked at his sister with such admiration for she was not only his sibling but a parent figure. Gunther was a burly of a man and the head librarian was tall and slender.
The comparison was that both of their features were on the opposite side of the spectrum. Gunther was like King Kong whilst his sister was like the girl, King Kong took up the tall tower. Whilst I did talk to her in my past life, a few times in passing, I felt that what she showed me today was a different side of her.
I was very curious of these two back story and when I thought exactly that, both of their profiles popped in front of me side by side. What caught me off guard from a glance at their profiles were their age. Gunther was 32 but his sister was 35. I thought when I looked at her appearance compared to Gunther, she was the younger sibling but it was flipped.
The head librarian name which was my first time knowing it was Lavira. She hadn't actually introduced herself to me in the past nor had she to anyone of her patrons. Nearly everyone in the library would address her as the head librarian, even her staff would do the same.
From reading their back story, the two had lived on their own when their parents died in a war when Gunther was only 2 and Lavira was 5. They stayed at one of their aunties house for 5 years before the both of them decided to run away.
The Aunty had a gambling problem and squandered most of her money away and she had placed a bet with Gunther as her betting money. She had used a 7 year old as betting cash. When Lavira heard about this, she quickly grabbed Gunther and left the house without any of their possessions. It was a hasty and impulsive move but the thing she cared the most in this world is her little brother.
The two without money or a home, lived on the streets for many years. Lavira would often dove into trash and rescue old books that had thrown away and read them in hopes that she could educate herself, find a job and take care of her little brother.
Over time, her smarts blossomed and found her first job at an old library. An old librarian had asked her to work for him, when he found her looking through the trash for books outside his library. He was intrigued by the girl's tenacity and her willingness to better herself and the drive for a better life for her and her brother. He took both of them in and Lavira would work for him as an assistant librarian. After the old man died, he had left the old library in Lavira's hands, where she worked as the head librarian and made the library a house hold name.
Many years later when Gunther was old enough, he sighed up to join the military to his sister dismay. Her impulsiveness like when she took the initiative to run away with her brother a long time ago would go to the kingdom's royal library and asked for a job.
With her reputation already established with how she held herself with the old library, the royal library was originally going to scout her but she came to them instead. After that, the siblings had lived in the kingdom until now.
Later, Lavira found a husband who's in a company predominantly houses tankers. Tankers are people who are trained for being on the front lines and 'tank' the brunt of all oncoming damages from the enemy. Gunther has also found himself a wife, a combat healer who was the very first friend he made when he joined the military.
After that Gunther was selected to be in the king's guard and Lavira became the head librarian. I felt goosebumps as I read their back story and nearing on becoming emotional.
I gave Gunther a returned smile, with a strong meaning of admiration behind it. Lavira had returned to us once she threw Rolan out of the door with his three friends closely behind him.
"So, why does my brother call you 'big boss'?" She asked curiously. "He told me a lot about you this morning. I've never seen him act this way before."
I scratched the back of my head as I tried to think of an answer. I couldn't tell her that I used a mind control skill on her brother and now his acting this way... definitely not.
"The king's guards came to the training grounds yesterday to observe us. He must've found me interesting and the guards approached me after the training session. They asked me if I and one of my student would like to have a sparring match with them and we agreed. Rex, my student would be the tanker and I would be his support, whilst Gunther would be the tanker for them and their leader, Tavish would be the attacker."
I was making all this stuff up on the fly as I took a sideward glance at Gunther who nodded to my every word... what? Gunther could've called out my bullshit but he didn't and instead reaffirmed everything with a nod. Feeling flustered now, inwardly, I continued as his sister stared at me with an raised eyebrow.
"We fought off and even though we lost, Tavish was impressed by my skills and he called me boss from then on which was probably why Gunther started calling me big boss."
Lavira's eyes narrowed when I finished my story but then soften.
"I don't really know why you would give me that kind of story or why my brother would hold you in such high regard but what you have done here today, I would like to show my gratitude."
She bowed down low which caused tiny pin pricks all over my body as embarrassment sets in. I felt my face reddened as the head librarian showed her gratitude. It was something no one would have witnessed in their life time but here we are as a large throng of people from all over the library had gather to witness this...

A bunch of warning notifications popped in front of me which cause my heart to beat faster.
Ba-dump, Ba-dump
[Warning: Target involved with your death has been detected.]
An image of a map with many dots were moving down a hallway towards the library. Amongst the dots was a red dot that was moving behind the many dots.
As the dots moved towards the library entrance door, my gaze wandered towards the direction of where the entrance door should be. A group of people lead by Rolan headed our way.
"Father, it's her." Rolan pointed a finger at Lavira. "She's the one that dragged me by the ear and threw me out of the library."
I looked at the dots now blinking on the map with the people in front of us but something was not right. The red dot which I presumed to be Rolan's father was in fact not and as the dots moved around, the red dot stayed in the one spot.
An elderly man with a sourly face watched the antics between Lavira and the father, son duo from the back of the group. His gaze swept and landed on me.
Ba-dump, Ba-dump
I watched him as he watched me. Even though we were far apart, we were locked onto each other in an intense staring competition.
At least I thought it was a competition but the elderly man gave off a weird feeling that gave me the heebie-jeebies. The elderly man unlocked his eyes from mine when his name was called.
"Vice councillor Ezekiel!" Rolan's father shouted. "This women has defaced and humiliated my son! Do something about it!"
