Chereads / Reborn: To Save My Students / Chapter 26 - Communication Network

Chapter 26 - Communication Network

"It's me."

"Who are you! And how are you in my head?!"

"It's big boss..."

Once I said those words, I felt embarrassment deep in the pit of my soul. I wouldn't say it was cringe considering a guy like him calls me it... but it's still embarrassing.

"Big boss? How can I hear your voice inside my head?"

"Eh... it's one of my skills... I recently found out."

"Ah! As expected of big boss!"

"I just wanted to test it out and you were the first one I tried it out on."

"It's an honour."

"By the way where are you right now?"

I was curious about the map that displayed in front me. The map showed every one of my members in the two companies, along with my students that were currently in their rooms. It didn't show any other people which disappointed me. I was now currently staring a dot that blinked near the kitchens.

Gunther hadn't said a word for a while now.

"Gunther?"

"Oh... Sorry! I was placing an order for dinner to the chef. To answer your question, I'm at the kitchens right now."

Nice! This meant, I can track everyone's movements and also talk to them as well.

"Okay. Thank you for your help. Enjoy your dinner."

"I will. Hey big boss, while I'm here, would you like me to order you something? They have this mean roast pork dish that has squash and pork dripping gravy."

I could hear the hunger in his voice as he described the dish. I felt my stomach turn when he said pork, even though I've recovered from the pork incident, my stomach would grumble to even the mention of pork.

"Maybe next time."

"Okay, suit yourself. Call me when you need me. Ah! My dinner is ready! Thanks chef."

{To end the link you need to say, 'Disconnect link.'}

"Disconnect link."

Since this new discovery was successful, this would help me to communicate with everyone on my network. There's still a bit of time left to head to dinner, so I decided to make one last call.

"Connect to Malos... Hello?"

I could see Marlos was still in his room with five of the knight's order guards outside guarding his chamber.

"Who's there?! Show yourself!"

"It's Ryan."

"Oh. My liege, how you can talk inside my head?"

"It's a skill l've learned."

"Impressive."

"Marlos, I want to ask you, do you know anything about vice councillor Ezekiel?"

"Ezekiel? He's my father's advisor. He tells everything my father would like to hear and controls the narrative."

"And what about his skills set? Do you know what powers he has?"

"Not a clue. Never seen him do anything other than being a vice councillor and kissing my father's ass."

"I see. Marlos, I want you and your men to find out everything you can about vice councillor Ezekiel and anyone else that's connected to him."

"As you wish, my liege."

{Teach him the skill.}

How do I do that? I thought this skill was only useable from the system.

{It is, which means anyone who's in the system can be taught and use. The knight's Order and Baihu are both in the system, so they can use it's features given if the owner of the system gives them permission.}

So I just tell him the same command I use?

{Correct. But first you need to say 'I give permission to the knight's order to use communication link'.}

"I give permission to the knight's order to use communication link."

"My liege, what are you saying?"

[Permission granted. The Knight's Order can now use Communication Link.]

"Marlos, I want you to repeat after me."

"Repeat what?" Marlos sounded confused and rightfully so considering I said something cryptic just then.

"Connect to Loc."

"Connect to Loc..." Marlos repeated the words once I said it but in a confused tone.

"Now say something to Loc."

"Say what to Loc?"

"Who said that?" A voice came into my mind and startled the shit out of Marlos.

"Loc, I said it."

"Who is I?"

"Marlos."

"Prince? How can I hear your voice in my mind?"

"My liege taught me the skill."

"I sure did."

"Master!"

"Hey Loc."

"This is amazing!"

"You don't need to shout considering we can hear you in our minds. Now I taught Marlos the command, his going to teach you and then you will teach everyone else and soon we all can talk to each other."

"That's ingenious, master."

"Marlos, when you want to end the link say, 'disconnect link' and the link should end. Like this. Disconnect link."

As soon as I said those words, the two voices of Marlos and Loc disappeared and now only my own thoughts remained. Not to long after as I continued to stare at the map, lines started to appear. It was like watching a kid play connect the dots. Soon all dots of the knight's order were connected. It looked amazing and that when I realised that before my very eyes was a communication network.

With this l... we could gather information without anyone noticing or send for help if someone was in trouble. I need to teach to Baihu next so we all can link up together. Soon after that I would have a whole communication system within the kingdom and I would soon know everything with in these walls.

A knock on the door snapped me out of my thoughts. I slid myself off the bed and walked toward the door. I unlocked the door and to my surprise Rex was standing on the other side.

"Rex."

"Hey sir, I wanted to talk to you about last night before we go to dinner with the others. I know they all are going to ask questions but I don't think I could answer them."

"Come in and have a seat on the bed."

Rex walked in and went straight to the bed and sat down. He had a serious face on which meant something was weighing heavy on his mind. I went over to the bed and sat next to him.

"So, tell me what's on your mind."

"I have a wife..."

"You have a wife?"

"Yes, I had a dream last night and in that dream I had a wife and her name was Rona..."

"Wait you said 'had' and 'was' does that mean..."

"Yes, she died from a heart disease..." Rex's voice was low and soft, almost a whisper. Even though it was a dream in his mind, the way he sounded almost sounded like a man in mourn.

A image of him crying in front of his wife grave flashed into my mind. I felt my heart thumped to his cry in the scene. As I looked at the Rex sitting next to me, I swore, the current Rex was replaced by himself from his past life. A rugged looking older Rex was now sitting next to me. I tried shaking my head to dislodge the illusion but it wouldn't.

[Past life memories has overlapped. Time of overlap: 10:00]

"Sir?"

In an instant my bedroom was now an opened field and I was standing over a crying man hunching over a grave. His head was tilted left and looked at me with little droplets of tears cascading down his face and onto the tombstone.

Overwhelming emotions enveloped me. Remorseful, mournful and pain. Rex lifted himself up, off the tombstone and stared at me, eyes still flowed with tears. The tombstone written words were now visible. On the tombstone wrote, 'Rona Lanison Harus. Beloved daughter, wife, mother. 1608AR - 1635AR'.

"Daddy, who is that?" Asked a little girl who was clinging onto her father's shirt. There was another child next to the girl, a boy who was also clinging onto his father.

"That's your uncle sweetie, say 'hello uncle Ryan.'"

The little girl spoke in the most soft and sweetest voice I've ever heard.

"Hello, uncle Ryan."

"Adri, why don't you say hello too."

Rex's son voice didn't sound like an innocent soft spoken child like his sister but in a well mannered and mature way.

"Hello, uncle." He dipped his head a bit when he addressed me.

"Sir, these are my children. Ava and Adrien."

I crouched down to their eye level and gave them the warmest smile I could muster.

"It's nice to finally meet you, Ava and Adrien."

I then tilted my head up to their father's eye level.

"It's nice to see you again Rex."

"Sir, I would like to introduce you to my wife, her name was Rona."

Rex's eyes gaze shifted from me to the tombstone next him. I too shifted my eyes.

"What was she like?" I asked him, I've seen her a couple of times in the current time and boy was she a firecracker."

"Like a firecracker. Fun and full of life. After your deaths, I found my self in a dark place and she pulled me out. She became my light and surrounded me with warmth. I owed her a lot."

I placed a hand on him but when I did, my hand went through him.

Rex looked at my hand that was now in his shoulder. I looked at the timer for the first time, I got here.

[Time of overlap remaining: 0:30]

"I hope we can see each other again soon. Time is always so short."

Rex gave me a saddened smile as the area started to switch back. I wanted to say something but couldn't.

[Past life memories overlap has ended.]

"Sir, are you okay? It looked like you spaced out for a second there."

The younger, current Rex watched me with concern in his eyes.

"I'm fine. You said Rona died with a heart condition?"

Rex nodded his head meekly.

"The dream felt so real sir. It's as if I had lived it once before. I... my thoughts... I'm scared sir."

I could feel his fear pulsating like a wave from him. He looked so terrified and if he knew it was all real... I don't know what will happen.

"Do you remember anything in your dream? Like a cure? For example."

"Everything was hazy, the further into the dream I went but I think I heard someone said a flower? On top of an mountain... I think... I don't know."

Rex rubbed his face on the palms of his hands in frustration.

"If you like, I could look into this flower for you?"

Rex perked up at my response.

"Really?"

"Of course. It may only have been a dream but it couldn't hurt to look into it. I'm your teacher and it's my duty to look out for you and to help any of my students in a time of need."

Rex looked up at me with tears in his eyes.

"Thank you."

With a resolute smile on my face, I gave him a single nod. Though I told Rex that I would only look into it, in reality with the nod I've just made and the truth held deep in my heart; I promise that I will save her no matter what and to save Rona I needed find more information on the snow flower.
