"That's a bold claim you've just made, don't you know who I am?"
"Not in the foggiest." I lied. I could tell how cocky the guy was and me telling him to stop when others wouldn't was something of a no no to him. The three other people had smirks on their faces as they stood and watched as things were about to get heated up.
"That's some confidence, what makes you so confident to have the audacity and suggest that I should stop?" He looked at me with a quizzical stare.
I could tell already that while his putting on a face, his face couldn't mask his micro expressions. Thanks to my perception with master's eyes, I could see all his feelings on his face behind the mask. By me saying he should stop was sending him into turmoil. His reputation was like dynamite, once a fuse is lit, the burn of the fuse will eventually ignite the dynamite. But what happens if the fuse was short, then the time of the explosion will be upon us sooner.
"It's not whether I have confidence or not but whether you should 'keep your hands to yourself.'"
The number one rule in a school amongst other things was to 'keep your hands to yourself'. I know this isn't a school and we're adults but the rule still applies in basic common sense.
"What did you say?! No one ever tell's me what to do!" He was shouting now because the fuse has been lit and was heading at a breakneck speed towards the dynamite. The fire in his eyes said it all.
If this ended up becoming a full on fight, I hoped my stats holds up. I had no idea if me being level 9 meant anything, realistically speaking I could still be the weakest amongst these people and whilst my stats looked good, it only meant I would beat anyone at my stat line or below.
"Maybe you should calm down and think before you act."
I wasn't trying to provoke him but from the words I've just said, his eyes sharpened. I felt my heartbeat quickened as his eyes narrowed onto me. His hands were clenching and unclenching like crazy and the sockets in his body popped and crackled as if he's readying to do something. I wondered if he could use magic or not since the majority of people in this world weren't capable in manifesting magic.
[Warning: hostile intentions detected.]
I guess the fuse was nearing the finish line and firework were about to explode inside a library. His friends from the sideline watched with amused faces as they watched their friend about to lose his shit onto a nobody like me. I looked with my peripheral vision to where the librarian was but she was gone. Probably the distraction I've caused had let her make her escape. Now it was only me, three fluff boys and a ticking time bomb.
Ba-dump. Ba-dump
I looked at the three behind him, wondering if they were going to be in this fight as well. I may have a chance if it were one person but if all four came at me then...
I didn't finish my train of thought as the spark in the guy's eyes exploded...
Boom goes the dynamite.
"Oi! Rolan, hit that guy real good."
"Yeah! Kick his ass."
"Boss! Hurry up and beat this guy, so I... we can eat."
The guy that I now know as Rolan, charged forward with all his might with his fist raised, aiming for my head. My awareness heightened with the perception stat and dodged the first with only a millimeter gap between my face and his fist smashing into it. Rolan tried to be clever and used his other fist with the remaining momentum for another swing but that too was dodged. I felt like neo dodging bullets in bullet time. I saw the moment his fist flew past me and the reaction on his face. His face said it all, things like 'how could I missed', 'impossible' and 'I'll kill this fucking bastard!'
His face grew bright red as his ferocity in trying to land a hit continued but that was only half the story. Though Rolan was doing most of the work, I too took half the work in trying to dodge his. I felt the tiredness starting to sink in and both the tenacity and preservation stats kicked in. As Rolan's punches started to feel sluggish, I went in with my own. My ones connected, causing Rolan to shake his head in stunned amazement but it didn't last long as I didn't relent and continued with my own assault. The places I hit felt hard like I was hitting a rock.
A smirk formed on his face as he noticed my discomfort. He watched me as I tried to hit every part of his body but to no avail. It was like a coin flip where both of us tried to damage each other but instead injured ourselves. At first the coin landed on his side, then onto mine but now the flip was on his side once more as he took the opportunity to step back a bit and tried a different approach. From the very beginning, I tried to determine if he could use magic and now my thought was finally answered.
[Warning: Enemy has activated the skill: Lightning fists]
Like the name suggest, his fist came at me faster then before. The speed overtook my perception stat and at points his fists became invisible from my eyes. My eyes and my dodging couldn't keep up as he barraged me with an onslaught of punches that emitted out lightning... I felt parts of myself sting from the discharge of the energy from the lightning.
Even though his fists still weren't connecting, the added lighting gave him a way to connect. He was on his last ropes just a few moments ago, but with his newfound vigour, his punches became more relentless.
[Warning: Enemy has activated the skill: Explosive rounds]
Not only did his punches sparked lightning but now when ever he punched, an explosion would occur.
Boom. Boom. Boom
The explosion from his fist sent air quakes that if connected would've done some serious damage to my insides. He had shown me two of his moves yet I haven't even used one.
Rolan was getting very agitated from all the misses and decided to use his finisher, his ultimate.
[Warning: Enemy has activated the skill: One hit punch]
One of his arm expanded considerably larger and a concentrated amount of power stored inside his arm, ready to use. He wind his arm upwards and launched his fist straight at my face. Though my defensive stats were great, the skill was Rolan's ultimate and a move that could cause serious damages.
I took in deep breaths as Rolan's fist came at me at full speed. I closed my eyes waiting for his punch to connect but it didn't. I felt a presence, as if someone was standing in front of me, so I opened my eyes. Rolan's fist was stopped moments away from hitting my face by someone I recognised straight away... Gunther.
He had blocked Rolan's attack with his own hand.
"I would suggest you to stop."
"Why is a member of the king's guards here?" He was shocked as one of the kingdom's highly ranked knights not only withstood his punch with only a bare hand but also saved the guy that enraged him.
"Sorry I couldn't come sooner, big boss. I was talking to my sister." Gunther had ignored Rolan which infuriated him further.
I raised an eyebrow at him when he called me big boss... why does him calling me that makes me feel like a mafia boss... it was strange for him to call me that but it an't bad.
"Don't you fucking ignore me! Don't you know who I am? Who my father is?
"I don't care about any of that but the fact that you tried to hurt my big boss and was about to land a deathly blow to him!" Gunther was enraged now as he directed all his anger towards Rolan. Gunther still holding Rolan's fist, gripped it tighter as his eyes narrowed down at him.
I could see the expression on Rolan's face as the pain from Gunther's crushing hand intensified. He was not going to relent and I would believe that he was going to crush Rolan's hand with the amount of force he was putting on.
"What is going on here?" Asked a female voice from behind me.
I turned around to see the female librarian that I saved with the head librarian. I've talked to the head librarian many times in my past life to know who she is.
"This Rolan guy tried to hurt my big boss, Sis."
I turned my head back to Gunther with a shocked expression. I didn't know the head librarian was Gunther sister nor had the head librarian told me she had a brother.
"Is that so? Alright, let your sis handle this."
