Chapter 3 - The Heir Of The Matter House

Episode 3

After seeing what Ursula did to Melanie, Edgar couldn't help but to have a bit of fear, everything had changed and it wasn't the one he knew right now, thou Edgar was one of the smartest people in his previous life. He chose to hide it because he knew the expectations that came with being intelligent.

But then again as it happens that sometimes, a smart person tends toward take time to accept reality if it doesn't corresponds with his doubts and his beliefs, this was the case for Edgar.

Who could blame him though the first world that he once lived in and grew to love wasn't like this new place, which by the way he hasn't fully discovered where he actually was.

Where he is originally from wasn't like this world seeing a person mutter just a few words in just a matter of seconds, then boom the victim gets possessed by something and does whatever the other person says.

To him this was madness, this was impossible to him and to his doubting mind these kind of things tend to happen in places like fantasy movies, series, and even animation.

The strange unfamiliarity of this modern world mediaeval castle had something that Edgar couldn't shake the feeling that he knows this from somewhere, especially when it came to that; Matter family crest and motto, the name like Ursula and Melanie.

Something limited him from processing everything and figuring out what the heck was going on, these kind of things don't exist in the normal world.

Of course, like the rest of humanity he was very well aware of the God that created everything he knew, he was taught between two places that shouldn't be named because of the disputes it will cause amongst everyone.

Edgar knew all about all different kinds of religions and their gods, culture, and beliefs. Yet he kept his mind open for new things.

The world that he was familiar with and was easy for him to adjust was a world with it's own magical attributes; things like religion, science and technology though those three things weren't so magical after all. Where he was from it was idolized.

The first few things that Edgar had noticed but couldn't remember why they were so familiar to him, is because they reminded him about a fantasy novel book that his mother used to read him too. Right before he went to sleep, every night.

Though he couldn't remember the book's title name, he remembered every single detail about this book after all it was his favourite, and not because it had a cool story line and allowed him to dream beyond the impossible.

Nope! That wasn't the case, that book was special to him for just one minor, and uncomplicated reason.

It was his mother's favourite book, because as she would read to him every night, she would do differently voices, act out scenes that she believed Edgar needed to learn how to visualise.

The book that Ursula, Melanie, and the Matter crest reminded him was a book about a young strange boy who walked into a different world, due to being lost and upon his discovery. This world was magical.

It had all different kinds of mythical beasts, wizards, warlords, demi-humans, elves and all kind of mythical beings a magical world should have.

It's main plot was that this mysterious new boy was destined for great things, and hence was adopted by a very powerful and we'll respected family of wizards called the Sun family and because of his destiny he was forced and groomed to fight against powerful warlords especially the ones called the Matters.

They were the most troublesome antagonists, reason being that they wanted the Hero's Chest, and they couldn't have children so the really bad guy was the other heir of the Matter family. A guy called Anos Matter, who wasn't born but created with dark magic.

His mother also used to teach him about this book, some teachings that he would never ever forget in his lifetime.

'Always remember little Ed not everything you read or even see is ever written and set in stone, take the book here. The villain here is just a guy who is fighting for his family who want something for their family's legacy.' These were one of his mother's teaching.

But his favourite was thou he'd always butt heads with his mother over and over with was this one, 'Good and evil both coexist to keep the world in balance; like the sun and moon, both different but have their parts to play and we need them both.'

All these different kinds of memories were floating in his head remembering the good times he shared with his mother, role playing and he was the hero and his mother was the villain.

Just reminiscing about the good old times, got his eyes all teary and the most painful memory that Edgar could never forget even if he ever tried, was losing his mother to cancer at the age of ten.

Right after that painful memory Edgar began to cry and his cry was so loud that it could be heard all over the castle.

Someone came running and without even knocking just budged in Queen Ursula's bedroom.

"Leviticus! Didn't your parents ever taught you not to just throw yourself to a lady's bedroom?!" Melanie covered Ursula and Edgar with a sheet.

"Please forgive me master, but please remember that I don't have parents. I am a demi-human." Leviticus bows down showing respect to Ursula.

"It's okay Leviticus, come meet the prince of the Matter House." Ursula removed the sheet thrown by Melanie.

Embarrassed by what she just did, "I'm so sorry my Queen I don't know what came over me!" She apologized.

Ursula ignored her and handed Edgar over to Leviticus, who was just as happy and excited as Ursula and Melanie were.

"Wow! My Queen, the young prince is really beautiful and he has your eyes and hair." Leviticus admiring Edgar.

Leviticus was the house of Matter's butler, and he wasn't your ordinary butler. Leviticus had grey-ish hair with a streak of black, his eyes were black and not just dark brown black, literally black, and his face was covered in a X scar. Beginning from both sides of his eyebrows, crossing over to both sides of his cheeks.

He was an old man but charming if you only ignored his scars, with his well groomed beard.

Edgar had stopped crying thanks to Leviticus who was just singing him a lullaby that was in some kind of language, Edgar just watched as Leviticus played with him. He attempted to touch his beard.

Something about Leviticus seemed so familiar to Edgar, the way he was staring at him as if they had met before.

"My Queen, the young prince is very special I can tell." Leviticus looked at Ursula who just finished dressing up her robe.

"I know he's the rightful heir of the Matter House." Ursula walks towards Leviticus.

"My Queen, do you think now is the right time to show them the prince we've all been waiting for?" Melanie asked with concern.

"Yes my dear servant the others need to know of their prince, the one who will save us all!" Ursula looks closely to her newborn son and she couldn't just believe what she had brought to the world, was actually real and true.

"And what do you think we should name the young prince?" Leviticus asked.

"Oh my lord! I was so excited I forgot to think of a name how about Ares?" Ursula suggested.

"Ares, huh? It's really not bad." Leviticus commented.

"No my Queen, please don't forget that Ares represent our enemies." Melanie said.

"Oh, yeah you're right then how about Serius?" Ursula asked.

"As much as that name will suit him, but we can't do that to the young prince. Serius is a cursed word and once he catches on it. You know what he'll do." Melanie reminded her.

"My Queen, why don't we give the boy the name of his father?" Leviticus gave an idea.

"That will be his second name, I want him to have his own first name. But what could it be?" This question not only bothered Ursula because each name she picked was either picked or there was something wrong with it.

The three really tried to come up with all kinds of different names; like Messiah, Kross, Alister, Maximus, Magnus. Just to name a few but none sounded right.

Then out of nowhere Melanie came up with a name just right for him, "I got it my Queen, why don't we name him Edgar?"

"Mmmh, Edgar?" Ursula thinking, "You know what I like it." Ursula looked at Edgar with so much love and warmth in her eyes.

They left Ursula's bedroom and walked to the great hall of the castle, waiting for them were the other servants all waiting patiently.

Ursula, Melanie along side them Leviticus stood over everyone else watching them.

That's when it hit Edgar and he recalled why this place and everything about it seemed so familiar.

"My trusted servants please welcome the heir of the Matter House." Leviticus takes Edgar from Ursula, and he raises him in mid air. "Your prince; Prince Edgar Anos Matter."

Just after the servants heard the name all of them bowed and submitted their respect to the new heir of their house.

And that was the moment Edgar realized where he was and what had happened.

'Oh shit'
